  • london1817, you could've spray painted the tank pitch black (to keep out algae and stay cool) and leave a portion "open" to serve as a water level indicator.

  • @Nekosys Doesn't black attract heat?

  • @london1817 oops, well that's even better, heat the contaminants while it's at it.

  • I am sorry your barrel is "Half Empty". You should really work on that and if you ever need to talk to anyone, I am here for you. Lol!! Cool Videos!!

  • Does that take run off straight from the roof? How do you keep bird shit out of it?

  • awesome...we have one of these same size--was a pepsi container---got it for $25.....we need 2 or 3 more

  • well, I just found the new one! haha, again thanks for the great vid!

  • Yeah!!! I hope you liked it!

It is a way better system!!!!!!! Thanks for the comment.

  • If you guys do a lil investigating into the "Earthship" books, you can figure out how to make your own easily with concrete and some beer cans. Then if you look into a gentlemen named Schauberger, and shape it like an egg on the inside, it will keep the water fresh without the need of pumps!!

  • thats something i have been thinkin about making. i think i will soon but im only 16 lol. very nice collecting system! =]

  • You can make a little one out of a clean trash can....Thanks for the comment.

  • london1817 , You can also make a system using old paint buckets (first clean them of course).

I connected 6 of them in series through a cupper pipe near the top, when full, they contain approx. 110 Litres, +/- 30 gallons I guess.

A bigger system is on its way, I only need to figure out how to best filter the water to make it ready for domestic use, but drinking.

    Thanks for the inspiring video.

    Regards from Mexico

  • That's great! Good idea with the buckets! Hey I love Mexico! I grew up kinda near there in Escondido, CA. Peace !.........

  • Hello,

The bigger system is still pending, though I've connected two buckets more plus a 15 gallon plastic storage box.

Despite being the raining season, it hasn't rained much, though.

I am a bit far from Escondido, in Mexico City. Great to hear that you enjoy the country.

I have been living here for about 7 years now and enjoy it a lot.

May be in the (near) future I will go to the provence as it is pretty crowded here.

    Regards

  • Yeah its very dry here too. My tanks are half empty right now.

I have been to Mexico city...I thought it was awesome! Alot of people but I liked it. The town I live in here in NC has 4000 people.....not too many.

  • Awesome stuff man. The background of Your videos makes me feel at home with nature. :)

  • That was fuuny !

     Haha..Thanks for your comment!

  • in mexico we did something like that but

underground we use a punp up machine to upload the water for domestic use

to bad i cant post a video but i will do on the future

great idea but old .....hasta la vista amigo!!

  • Como asta amigo!! Yes,,, that is a very good idea..

What did you use for the pump? Thanks for the comment...Hasta lawajha!!

  • That's not plywood, it OSB.

  • my bad.

  • Just add fish and and air bubbles and in a few months a few pounds of fish can be added to your freezer

  • Great Idea .. I def need to do this So much better to use our natural rain than city water ... I have an idea mine will be more from my Gutters in say a clean garbage can .. 5 stars !

  • Is big, good job! What I am planning to do in my house is burry them, then pump out the water. That way the City wont see it. I am still working with my son on the solar energy. There is another video incorporating the solar panel and a pump to pump the water out.

  • That sounds like a great idea!! putting the tank under ground would keep the mosquito's away as well.

     Thanks for your comment.
