I just got my first presta bike tube, on accident, and it's my first time even seeing one. Is there a benefit over the standard valve?

The main benefit is that you can put more pressure (8-9 bars) into a presta valve tube than a regular, or car valve (3-4 bars). That's why most road bikes have presta valve and most mountain bikes have regular valve.

@gasq123 maybe you are right, but the most important thing about having presta valve is the diametre is smaller than car valve. The smaller the diameter the stronger the rim.
