How did you change the brush style of the Healing Brush to be 'Dune Grass' (the hair shaped brush) rather than the standard round brush?! If I could do that, I'd be a happy photographer!
okay, I've tried this tutorial, and when I come to using the clone stamp tool, my results are...orange? like I used lghten mode. but I haven't. I did exactly as instructed. what do I do?
What's the difference between a High Pass filter and the apply image filter you're using? The results are coming up near identical. Also, using the High Pass or Apply Image technique when tweaked you can get a much cleaner sharpen mask when setting that layer to overlay or soft/hard light. Give it a try and tell me what your thoughts are. Just thought it strange to use Apply Image on a this version of Photoshop.
Thank you for these tips!! I was a culprit of trying the surface blur and all these other cheap ways of editing the skin-and they really did look very fake in the end. This way takes longer but the difference is in the quality. (: Btw-where did you find images like the one you used for your video?
PLEASE HELP. It's driving me mad. when i duplicate texture layer all becomes to sharp. how did u do it? i want to have different healing levels and do not know how to set that texture layer in few copies?
Basically. I think learning Photoshop is all about just trial and error. I'm not really a huge fan of tutorials. I make them, but I feel like you don't really learn when there are step by step directions. I try to have my tutorials be more technique based than step by step. Like what I used to do was find images that I liked and tried to just recreate the effect on my own.
i have a question, for your healing brush you have to take a good area of skin in cs5 but its so hard to do all over the face when its really big pores in the skin any tips as well, what brush size and hardness and opacity do I use for heal in cs5?
@littledredre Work in smaller areas and take your time. You can also go over the area lightly with the Clone stamp at 20%. And for the healing brush I change the size constantly and keep the edges pretty soft.
@littledredre I hear you. My sister has massive pores all over her face and her skin is really bad when I zoom in to work on it. I am literally there for a very long time trying to get every pore out... it is very difficult to do with people that have that many deep pores.
hmm..I was using only 2 layers and sometimes the brush tool to even out the skin,though t looked kinda fake..but I pretty much use your technique.well thanks for the tip!

@Lillith13th Set your clone brush to only use the current layer as source.
Where the lighten and opacity modes are for your brush, there should be a setting that says "Sample". Make sure it says Sample: Current Layer.

pieta20 10 months ago
@pieta20 hold down the option key (alt on a PC) while selecting 'Merge Visible', this copies all the other layers on to one layer.

Was there a point to the texture and tone layers? I don't get that part.
ribbononmywristxx 1 year ago
@ribbononmywristxx
because when you use the clone tool, you don't want to clone the texture, just the tone :)
sb85 1 year ago
Hey Great tutorial! Could you explain what the purpose of the tone layer? I don't see much (if any) difference in evening out the tones.

Holy shit dude this has helped me edit photos so hard. The clone stamp technique is like the perfect balance between texture and smoothness. So good.

So, did you just play around with all these settings until you got them right?
In other words, how do people com up with this kind of thing in the first place?

@cameronrad1 what opacity should i use the healing brush on ? and which brush ?? I find it doesnt always match the skin tone and its blotchy
littledredre 1 year ago
@littledredre
The healing brush doesn't have an opacity and just a soft brush. Experiment.
