  • i have all the original blood alpha weapons on my doom megawad, its up to download on the site i provided on my demo videos. it has the alpha shotgun, spear gun, napalm cannon an skinny tnt all from the blood alpha

    No it was the second level of the alpha which is now E6M6 in the expansion.

  • I agree with the shotgun part I only I like from the final version of the shotgun was when you clicked the middle mouse button it shoots differently and wastes more bullet's though and I also agree with you on the textures part

    I've played This alpha version press F7 key your an occultist instead of being caleb.

  • Can anyone please tell me where to get the "windows xp x64 zmbv codec fix" mentioned in the video description? I have windows XP x64 professional edition and ZMBV can't work, it was stupid I even attempted to install the codec from DosBOX's .INF file, and now I can't remove the broken codec gracefully...

  • that strange tilting is code from Ken Silverman's original BUILD test demo, if you go to his webpage and download his build test game the tilting can be done there too, i guess this alpha demo was based on the BUILD test demo itself. i also noticed the sky changing shape too.

  • All of you guys who believe this is idtech1, you are WRONG, it is BUILD. The same Build engine was used in the commercial Blood, Duke3d, Shadow Warrior, and Redneck Rampage.

  • BUILD was its own engine, it had nothing to do with Doom's. Blood is not an upgraded version of the Duke3d source either, it was based directly off of the BUILD source. If you are saying that because you can hear some Doom sounds in this video, they are called placeholders, commonly used in Alphas. You can research this to verify my answer. ^^

  • The release version of Blood used Ken Silverman's Build engine (as used in Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage and others). Did they switch engines? Some of the effects in the video (voxels, bouncing body parts, 3rd person view) are Build features that were not -- to my knowledge -- available or commonly used with the DOOM engine.

  • I never got to play the alpha level.

  • I really enjoyed this Alpha. Lots of artwork and interesting level ideas that I thought really made it rather unique. (Of course that insane, unlimited ammo pitchfork flame bomb that you didn't even need a cheat to get made things interesting too!) And the music was entirely different from what they opted for in the final product. Very nice. Please post some more levels!

  • Ah, alphas of games are always interesting. I kind of like the gib and stone stab sound effects in this one over the official ones. The gargoyles activate very fast in it as well, so you can barely even notice that they do transform from stone (instead of just appear) unless you view the art/sprite editor.

  • I have this. Was really interesting, surprising how many levels were scrapped. I'm pretty sure Blood: Plasma Pak included a lot of these areas.
