No, she's not a former bar-girl or from a poor family. I know, every Farang says the same, just to find out that he married a bad girl. I pretend myself to be lucky and I love Thailand and lot's of Thai music. My wife is always going though a hard time whenever we are in Thailand, because Thai people look down o her, coz she married to a Farang. I will continue to learn read and write Thai!

Yes - in Thailand all white westerners are called Farang. This term doesn't really have a negative meaning. The old old Siam Kingdom had their first diplomatic relations with french people. they were ""française", farançaise for Thais, which later became the word "Farang" to describe all white westernes.
