this version better than Bruce's original? I don't think so, not by a long shot. Bruce's version is far more raw and real. I'll take it any day over this.

no no no no no no not the original. Bruce Springsteen did the original.. Personally I think Manfred Mann's version is the best one even better than Bruce's. The song explodes in the Manfred Mann version. There's an abbreviated, slightly changed version of the Manfred Mann rendition on youtube- not the live one, find the one from the album Chance.. check it out. Greg Kihn did one, not so good. This Sly version is not too good IMO. some euro disco versions too- terrible.
