West IS the one, and only the good die young. Thanks nzoz1978 for this priceless vision of AD and another of his timeless songs.

I love the imagery and blending of 'into the west' themes from a past time with hope and optimism that AD must have felt himself before he found his place where he could be alone.

Great to hear this song in it's entirity again after so long, Andy was a much better vocalist than I remembered & such a great song writer. There is only a very short version at the end of the memorial concert DVD, so thanks for the post. Mals' mullet is a classic, hehe.

The chorus of this song was played on TV and radio in Perth when promoting Western Australia's sesquicentenial year celebrations in 1979, ie.150 years of the Swan River colony.

We were robbed of a beautiful soul the day Andrew passed,,, THIS is what Australian music is all about for me,,, The Very first album I purchased as a kid was THE Andrew Durant Memorial Concert,,, double Vynil.,,or is that Vinyl??, and I still have it,, as well as the CD version,, I was raised on this sort of music,, and as I'm yet to turn 40,,, I still have many more years to keep listening to it .(hopefully)

I forgot just how good this band were. Did they do any recording after Andy's passing? What a loss! I recall a track- was it ?Land Of Fortune? Can't seem to find much. Nothing on itunes?

First album was Paradise in 1978. The Land Of Fortune album followed in 79 and a live album titled 1157 was released in 1980. All were available on CD once but no longer sadly. This is an absolute lost classic song and it's a disgrace that radio no longer plays material like this. Rock on Andy!

Funny I was just listening to Paradise on vinyl yesterday afternoon - thought I'd google and see what happened to these guys and stumbled across this. I knew Andy passed away in 1980 but didn't realise Mick was still performing. I luv Youtube just for this sort of stuff. Really nostalgic. Thanks for posting these :)
