i think what people need to do instead of focusing on building a robot for a specific task, they should focus on just building each little finger and replicating exactly what a human does, then move on to the arm doing the same thing, then the torso and and so on, instead of focusing in on the robot as a whole focus on the little tiny parts so it can do everything instead of just one thing.

@TheMetalFAN54 yes, actually in Japan there is the technology to built a super robot but is dispersed in differents laboratories, there are robots doing a lot of different and complex things but are made by different companies and universities mostly rivals, but if all that knowledge get fused in one robot will be 10 times what asimo is.

Thanks for all the comments. Solving the Rubik's cube isn't the impressive part, it is actually the manipulation with the arms and hands along with the video camera in the head that is impressive. There are lots of videos of computer contraptions solving Rubik's cubes.

@boilerbots Actually people have built them with Lego Mindstorms. The reason why this is easy to do is that its a typical robotic task that can be detailed in software. Which means its very good at solving the Rubik's cube... and nothing else. There needs to be more focus on intelligent agents and computer learning to make real robots that are multi-capable and adaptive.
