@AutumnSplendors Go tell that to my fellow countrymen, to my neighbors, to my classmates, to every stranger in peru who insulted and discriminated me, my family and fellow evangelicals for being a, how did they called? "Heretic" from the true catholic church....But it doesn't matter now, I am in America, a protestant country and I will defend its evangelical tradition from every catholic here, I mean, if they wanna be catholic, why don't they go to latin america, or to the Vatican?
@QueenBrendaSIV Because that's not how America works. Your religion is something that is protected as is Catholicism and Judaism and Paganism and lack of religion altogether. If you want to defend something please do look to the freedom of religion for all Americans enshrined in the constitution.
@AutumnSplendors The kids and teachers made my life miserable back in Peru because I was evangelical, catholics are deeply evil ppl with rotten hearts, and they shall pay for it! I swear to God that I will murder a catholic before I die. Ever since I as born I have been the enemy of the catholic church, and so my children will be, as soon as they learn to speak I will teach them to insult and harass every catholic in the world.
I must disagree with you. Not all Catholics are evil, just as not all Evangelicals are evil.
My father was raised Lutheran and my mother was raised Catholic- my three siblings and I were raised Catholic and my dad never objected to it. It is only narrow-minded individuals that claim that all members of a single religious denomination are evil.
Bravo, Mary! I don't care if history calls her "Bloody Mary"- it is a great injustice to all she endured and what she fought all her life to retain. She had her faults like everyone else, but she also had good points. Had her reign been longer, like that of her half-sister Elizabeth, Mary may have had the chance to prove that she could be just as great a queen as her younger sister.
Damn, could not imagine some thirteen year old spouting off at the mouth at a grown woman, even if he was a king! So, Mary played her trump card and had him in tears, more power to her!
These comments are rife with Romanist historical revisionism. Where is the evidence that Jane Seymour was, unlike her two Protestant brothers (one of whom was the Protector and king in all but name for a short time) a devout Papist? She had Mary restored to court. Proves nothing. Did Jane hear mass? Where and which priest presided? Was she buried following a Catholic requiem mass? NO! Propaganda is not history. Where are your well respected historical sources, Catlicks?
Mary is going to Bully her lil brother with threats from her cousin to worship as she pleases???!!! But murdered protestants who wished to worship as they pleased??? Give me a f@cking break!!!! She's nothing but a hypocrite. Grown ass woman bullying a lil boy. Then she had the audacity to disrespect the king???

I just Love Mary, you have to understand where she came from, all of Henry's kids suffered a lot, Mary by her parents divorce and her catholic religion, then Elizabeth to be raised as the daughter of a whore must've been hard. Elizabeth and Edward were just english, but Mary was international, the Trastamara's where all over europe (as in the maternal last name of Mary) Spain, Portugal, Holy Roman Empire...she had many cousins, yet was so alone...

I do agree, some people are getting there facts on what the series "The Tudors" are doing but lets be honest, "The Tudors" is an entertaining show, yes some of what they do is in history but then they make up for it by adding there little entertainment to make the story of Henry and all of his ways intresting!, but there is one thing that is true, Henry was a horrible man, he did not care about his people or his courntry and it took Mary and Elizebeth years to make it stable again.
I always feel bad for Mary and the hard life she had. A lot of the executions during her reign were done behind her back by her corrupted advisers who signed her name to the death warrents. I'm just stating the facts.
Actually, it was less then 300, which was a pretty small number compared to the thousands who were killed in 'Bloody Henrys' reign. And if he had been a better husband and father, and if not for the Wyatt rebellions, perhaps things would have gone differently.

Things would not of gone differently for Mary, she was not suitable to be Queen, as she put her heart before her country, and surrounded herself with bad advisors. She did not know what the English people needed in a Queen. Partly her fault, and partly the fault of her mother, who taught her obstinancy and stubborness.
Mary *didn't* put her heart before her country. As well as loving Phillip, she saw the benefits of a Spanish alliance. Plus, she refused to execute Elizabeth and left her the throne when she could have left it to Mary Stewart.
If "Bloody Henry" and the "Concubine" hadn't robbed her of her mother (who was a wonderful and beloved Queen) her rights, and taught her to hate the Protestant faith through their actions, she might have had better guidance and been more tolorant and successful.
If Mary had had her way, England would have been Spain's lapdog. Do you know how Spain viewed progress and women's rights? If Spain had its way, Europe and women's rights would be in the Dark Ages! I shudder to think where progress, Anglo Saxon society, and women would be if it weren't for Elizabeth!
I do agree with you about Elizabeth, but Mary tried with all her heart to help her country and her people it is not her fault that her father really ruined the England for Anne, after Herny's death the damnge was already done! and it took years for Mary and Elizebeth to make there country better, Mary Liked Spain because they were the ones that treaded her nicesly, the reason why Elizebeth did not like Spain is because of her mother Anne, Anne did not like spain because they did not like her.
@evaperonfan and Elizabethan persecutions were not bad??........what about bloody henry????.............if it will reward the most bloodthirsty, henry would be in first place, secondly elizabeth, edward thirdly...........
@kendraMcgraw Mary problem is that she blamed the wrong people for her suffering she blamed Anne for her father divorce, for declaring her a bustard, and breaking with Rome the thing is it was JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE HER FATHER FAULT
@PrincessKarrah Henry VIII was the cause of all problems, it's truth that he was manipulated for a lot of people but that's not a excuse for his acts, he was a awful person

Do some research on Christianity, then you will get your answers. The Romans hijacked Christianity and gave the world Catholicism. You obviously know nothing about the REFORMation.
I beg to differ, sir, it was the Eastern Orthodox Church formed in 1054 that preserved the proper aspects of Christianity. Protestantism, born 500 years later, is a manufactured faith formed in the codpiece of Henry VIII and out of the personal ambition of Martin Luther. It is no less manufactured than Islam, another faith made up by a single man looking to feather his own political nest.
@ligreekguy Come back when you've studied the history of the Christian church, and not what someone has told you in a history book. Then we will talk. Bye now.

i actually have studied a bit about the church of england. i know all about the glorious revoltion and how england discrimated against catholic monarchs. i don't hate anglicans my father is anglican and my mom catholic. i just happened to be raised catholic. i'm just tired of how ppl always try to make catholcism out to be evil, when it had evil ppl in it. just like any organization, but that shouldn't define the whole or what the real message of it is. i have meant many who hate catholics
and i must say it seems to be blinding hate. bc i would never attack all these other christian groups like they attack catholicism. and also the history of catholicism says the church was started by St. Peter the 1st pope so how am i misinformed on that account when that is what i have been taught in religion classes i have taking through out schooling
I agree, Fleurgi. I am Greek Orthodox, so I can be objective. Until recent years, Catholics could not be knighted, and services for Catholics buried in the Chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula at the Tower (executed persons) were not allowed to be said. Other forms of institutional discrimination have persisted, but take heart. Mass conversions to Catholicism have taken place in England, including extended royal family members. My church has also gained numerous Protestant converts. Justice lives.
well u can compete with her if u were raised up knowing for a fact that your father wanted to have a son and not your sister as an heir and you can compete with a woman if you are a king in absolute monarchy
Holy Roman Emperor was far away but 34-year-old sister was right there in front of him and since he was so young he wasnt able to see what a powerful connections his sister had until she actually forced him to c
What does a 13 yr old boy know about religion? he obviously was controlled. The dispute back then between Protestant and Catholic had more to do with politics than theology or personal conviction.
@macpduff edward was raised protestant. and he, elizabeth and his stepmother often discussed and debated about religion. it was one of the only things he was actually very devoted to. of course the 'protectors' had their own agenda and oddly enough his mother was devoutly catholic. we have to keep in mind edward was a bookworm not a athlete so he knew alot about his faith
@macpduff basically both...some like mary was personal...through her mother and she was devout while others changed religion 2 whatever the king( or queen) was doing
@macpduff Don't be ridiculous, at 13 a person know what is wrong and what is right. Ever since I had memory, I have hated the Roman Catholic church with all my soul, I remember when I was 3 yrs-old I hit a boy because he had just been baptized catholic. My parents were proud practicing evagelicals amongst a catholic sea, ever since a baby my mother taught me to stand up for my beliefs and to uphold the real faith, and I swear I will cause as much harm as I can to any/every catholic in my grasp.
No one at 13 knows what is entirely right and what is entirely wrong. Even at 23, one finds it difficult to fully know the difference. It is wrong for one faith to persecute another (Catholics and Evangelicals included). It is also wrong to do any harm to someone of a different faith. I'm sorry that others made your life miserable in Peru, but please understand that they do NOT represent the entire body of the Catholic Church.
I think Mary would have been a good queen, if it werent for the Catholic Church break. But Elizabeth was the best queen England has had though. Good vid!
@tony3918 yes but look at the pattern, Catherine of Aragon and Mary were both Roman Catholic, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth were both Protestant and then you get to Jane and Edward. Jane an extremely pious Catholic who died 12 days after giving birth to a strong Protestant. it's also a bit of irony considering that she tried to bring Henry back to papacy.
@soccergirl97979 No cause Mary was 18 when catherine died and during that time everyone was catholic... so when ann bolyen died elizbeth was already 3 and when she was livin with hernry.. catherine parr she was a protestant so she taught her according to wat her moma was... when it comes down to edward he didnt know his mom he learned in a time where catholics had to really hide in england and so he was raised by protestants.. the seymours and Sir dudley was very very loyal protestants..
@tony3918 i'm not going to waste my time with this; all i was saying was that it was interesting for such a strong catholic to give birth to a king who was a firm protestant even if he didnt know her. i already knew everything you have written, there is no need for rude remarks on a simple comment i made a year ago. i appreciate your insite on the matter but my comment still remains.
@occergirl97979 i did not say anthing to u rude i just was tellin u wat i know i didnt 1 time say u dumb or something to tell u the truth u r being very rude if u didnt know...
@soccergirl97979 No. Edward's mother was Henry's 3rd or 4th wife and she was not Roman Catholic. She also died shortly after Edward's birth so he was not raised by her.
@macpduff its Henry VIII we're talkin about as long as she wasn't throwing her contradictory beliefs at him, he didnt care, he loved her and wanted her as the mother of his son. it does sound weird but he wasnt after her faith if you get what i'm saying. each of his wives had a different religion from her predeccesor when you look at them, Katherine of Aragon was Catholic, Anne, Protestant, Jane Catholic, Anne of Cleaves, Protestant, Katherine Howard Catholic, Katherine Parr Protestant
Even in a royal family like the Tudors, there are the problems of ordinary families like sibling rivalry. Love Starkey's comment about Christmas being a time of family arguments, that is so true!

He had a terrible death too. They gave him arsenic in a desperate bid to keep him alive.

Mary Had a Hard life, No wonder she killed soo many people.
HondurasTLCLeftEye 3 years ago 7
She killed 300 hundred in a short time during her reign where as, henry killed well over 500.000 and Elizebeth too but there reigns were longer.

and what source did you get 'henry killed well over 500,000' from? exactly. There is no source saying that, only guesswork from authors.
TheMrGobble 2 years ago
HondurasTLCLeftEye, her father and sister elizabeth killed much more than she did.

what the hell are you talking about mary did become queen
d1g1talv1rtu0s0 3 years ago 6
I think Mary would have been a good queen, if it werent for the Catholic Church break. But Elizabeth was the best queen England has had though. Good vid!

his mother died shortly after his birth and he was brought up with Protestant tutors-a great tragedy for England
bripat22 2 years ago
@soccergirl97979 well his mother died on his birth.. so who cares wat she was he didnt know her
tony3918 1 year ago
@tony3918 yes but look at the pattern, Catherine of Aragon and Mary were both Roman Catholic, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth were both Protestant and then you get to Jane and Edward. Jane an extremely pious Catholic who died 12 days after giving birth to a strong Protestant. it's also a bit of irony considering that she tried to bring Henry back to papacy.
soccergirl97979 1 year ago
@soccergirl97979 No cause Mary was 18 when catherine died and during that time everyone was catholic... so when ann bolyen died elizbeth was already 3 and when she was livin with hernry.. catherine parr she was a protestant so she taught her according to wat her moma was... when it comes down to edward he didnt know his mom he learned in a time where catholics had to really hide in england and so he was raised by protestants.. the seymours and Sir dudley was very very loyal protestants..
tony3918 1 year ago
@tony3918 i'm not going to waste my time with this; all i was saying was that it was interesting for such a strong catholic to give birth to a king who was a firm protestant even if he didnt know her. i already knew everything you have written, there is no need for rude remarks on a simple comment i made a year ago. i appreciate your insite on the matter but my comment still remains.

@occergirl97979 i did not say anthing to u rude i just was tellin u wat i know i didnt 1 time say u dumb or something to tell u the truth u r being very rude if u didnt know...
tony3918 1 year ago
@soccergirl97979 No. Edward's mother was Henry's 3rd or 4th wife and she was not Roman Catholic. She also died shortly after Edward's birth so he was not raised by her.
macpduff 1 year ago
@macpduff 3rd wife, yes she was in fact a catholic and your last statement is correct
soccergirl97979 1 year ago
@soccergirl97979 How could the 3rd wife be Catholic when Henry had broken with the Church? Henry was still King and head of the Church of England.
Of course many Anglicans call themselves catholic,- just not Roman Catholic.
macpduff 1 year ago
@macpduff its Henry VIII we're talkin about as long as she wasn't throwing her contradictory beliefs at him, he didnt care, he loved her and wanted her as the mother of his son. it does sound weird but he wasnt after her faith if you get what i'm saying. each of his wives had a different religion from her predeccesor when you look at them, Katherine of Aragon was Catholic, Anne, Protestant, Jane Catholic, Anne of Cleaves, Protestant, Katherine Howard Catholic, Katherine Parr Protestant
soccergirl97979 1 year ago
@soccergirl97979 Interesting. So Henry was a pragmatist. Sounds like the religious wars in England started after his death.
macpduff 1 year ago
@macpduff you got it, you had protestant edward, catholic mary and politique elizabeth
soccergirl97979 1 year ago

littlemisssunnydale, what's the name of this series, I wanna look it up.

Even in a royal family like the Tudors, there are the problems of ordinary families like sibling rivalry. Love Starkey's comment about Christmas being a time of family arguments, that is so true!
