@deathbyillusion The NES Pac-Mans may or may not have a kill screen, the arcade Pac-Man has a Split-Screen on 256 and is also incompletable, and Ms. Pac-Man has upside-down screens (or no maze but has dots), but on 142 it crashes. When you fix that, you have the blank screen (As shown here, but to fix it you need to edit the code), and then on 256 it shows a split screen. If you are on a REAL arcade machine set to free play, you can get different kill screens, and then worps to original Pac-Man.

ok it is programed in 8-bit, it allows 256 level counters (0-255) and because these programmers underestimated us they made less levels don't ask how i know this

The 8 bit limitation is sort of the problem, but the real problem is a programming error (using the wrong instruction to compare). which 1st manifests at level 132. Google Don Hodges Pacman to see an article that details the bug, and shows how to fix it.

If you've played the original Pacman, you'd know that Clyde was always confused when Pacman was chasing him. Never seeming to know what to do. One day he got jealous when he thought Pacman was more interested in Pinky than him... So, he decided to have a sex change and become "Sue". But that was a tragic mistake because now Pacman was gone, and some lady Ms. Pacman was now doing the chasing. Sue decided this transvestite business wasn't for her..Err. him. So she became Tim in Pacman Jr! ;)

No need to shout. You probably don't have the correct ROM's installed for those games. Go to romhustler. net. For Dig Dug, you need at least the "Dig Dug (rev 2)" ROM, then any others for the other versions. Works fine. Not going to try Galaga. Was addicted to that in the 80's. Could play forever. Don't need that now.

Some boards are always turbo, some you can toggle with dipswitch turbo/normal:

Some people might think it's harder to use the speed cheat. You're pretty much out of control if you don't plan ahead. I have played both speed cheat and regular speed modes religiously, and I would probably go back and forth with them.

I've played only small amounts with the speed cheat... It really is a different game and it's just wrong IMO to play Ms that way! I kind of enjoy Pacman Championship edition for XBox360. But there - it's designed to be played fast and it seems proper.

Besides, levels 21 - 141 are trivially easy with the speed up hack, but are the most challenging part of normal speed play because Ms Pac moves slightly slower than the ghosts...

In 2001, Galaga and Ms. Pac-Man were merged into one arcade machine, as a 20th anniversary celebration of the two games. The individual machines of the original games are still found here and there, and are still collected by old-school arcade fans (like me).
