In the early 1950s, there was an outbreak of a serious disease called malaria amongst the Dayak people in Borneo.
The World Health Organization tried to solve the problem (a lot like how this pest control guy is trying to solve his little bee problem). They sprayed large amounts of a chemical called DDT to kill the mosquitoes that carried the malaria.
continued.. The mosquitoes died and there was less malaria. That was good.
However, there were side effects. One of the first effects was that the roofs of people's houses began to fall down on their heads.
It turned out that the DDT was also killing a parasitic wasp that ate thatch-eating caterpillars. Without the wasps to eat them, there were more and more thatch-eating caterpillars.
continued.. Worse than that, the insects that died from being poisoned by DDT were eaten by lizards, which were then eaten by cats. The cats started to die, the rats flourished, and the people were threatened by outbreaks of two new serious diseases carried by the rats, sylvatic plague and typhus.
To cope with these problems, which it had itself created, the World Health Organization had to parachute live cats into Borneo. Unitentional consequences...
Question: Why would you want to kill the bees when you could easily contact a local beekeeper or beekeepers association who can organise a standard and safe swarm collection? Especially considering the world-wide issues with colony collapse!! Think about all the various consequences of going around killing wildlife like this. Just because you make money from killing things, doesn't make it a responsible thing to do on a biologically friendly and sustainable level.
@tobyhawk828 Global Bee Decline: Bee Colony Collaps -> Pollination Crisis -> Species Extinctions -> Global Food Shortfalls: The world's leading honey-bee experts and UN scientists warn about the worldwide disappearance of bees, our vital crop pollinators. “Every third bite of food we eat is the result of bees”, and without profound changes to the way we manage the planet, declines in pollinators and plants will continue, and the means by which to feed our growing populations wont be available.
brake cleaner killed them? right now I used a wasp and hornet spray can kills the wasp good but the bees I don't know. I just found a hive in my back yard.
I tried the dish soap idea but there are well over 100 bees in the hive. They are in a wall that we hav to walk around it and when we get close end up standing between a tree (full of bees) and the wall (also full of bees+queen). All the soap did was piss them off and i cannot get far enough into the wall to touch the queen. Im considering calling the fire department. Before i go off and have my house surrounded by firemen, does anybody have any ideas??

COMERCIAL - PROMOSTES BIO ACTIVE DUST - nice photo of bees - not all bees some - Dangerous?! ha!
prevention ideas minimal = don't spray the hive
CALL A BEE KEEPER FIRST - TO ID THEN TREAT THEM
plhs987 8 months ago
@magprob there are millions of them so if you kill 10000 it doesnt matter.
if you use that dust thing he was talking about theyll leave the place and some will die i think.
tobyhawk828 11 months ago
@tobyhawk828 It matters to me and a whole lot of other people. You don't have a clue.
magprob 11 months ago
@magprob it cant matter to many more than 40 million people, and if so, then this video still is successful when it shows the way to kill them
tobyhawk828 11 months ago
@tobyhawk828 And what if everyone on the planet who has a problem with natural bee swarms just goes and kills them? What are the consequences...?
rob741258 3 months ago
@rob741258 what if my ass is pointy and filled with marmalade? that question is irrelevant cause its not that way.
