@piercetapes - I'll admit that I haven't heard as much of Witchcult Today as I have the previous albums. When the remasters came out for the first five or so albums I grabbed those and REALLY enjoyed the unreleased stuff. Come My Fanatics and Dopethrone were my two favorite albums, so to me that was what I was basing their "peak" on.

@piercetapes I agree about Electric Wizard "witchcult today" was their best alnum as far as I'm concerned....but Sleep man....they were at a whole other level...Sleep for me was the only band that came close to Black Sabbath level....listen to the beginning of "the druid"....perfection....and "sonic titan"...So for me it is Black Sabbath the masters then Sleep then Electric Wizard.....

I love how so many of the Electric Wizard's fans are so quick to write off Sleep. I've always thought of Wizard as sort of a Sleep tribute band, haha. Heavy in their own right, but they couldn't touch Sleep, even at their peak lineup.

Electric Wizard is the best at what they do. There songs dont call for flash. Their style is to set the atmosphere of horror. I cant think of a band who does it better. Alot of people seem to think speed and technicality make heavy music, when its actually slow simple riffs. The Wizard is one of the heaviest bands ever for embracing this.
