  • Hello, yes a proffesional machine new will start ar 100.000$ and go till??????

So you can build for 6000$ a compleet machine, that work whit new material.

what you see on the movie is machine of the 2 generation and now I sit at the 4 generation and I am building at the moment 4 machines and one of the machines is for a technical school.

but if you have any quistions white me on peter.croonen1@telenet.be are skype octopus80

  • Wish this guy would write a book abouth this machine and add details on the electronics, the plans and whatever else he knows. He could get it published and translated easily. That would be a goldmine for him I think because everyone and his brother wants in on this but cannot afford $50,000-$100,000 machines for a hobby. I'd buy his book as soon as it hit the shelf or amazon.

  • I myself am a wire edm programmer... i run agie charmilles wire and sinkers and you must one of 2 things... alot of time on your hands or you really have the love of electrical discharge machining. But good job for a home made machine!

  • hi

after see this video .i should say you do excellent job.

do you have website or web log .

  • Pretty good for a home job. I would suggest a much higher flushing pressure on your nozzles though as I can see them easily being clogged with swarf.

  • normal the wire is use once, but I doing test now the use it 2 times but the quailty from the wire is not so good anymore. but for some work you can use it 2 times

  • @plasmaboog Depending on what you are doing typically your wire should only be single use as it pinches in the rollers as it goes through. As well as being flattened somewhat, the wire should be a brass coated steel. Most of the brass is burned off. I don't see any practical application where you would use it twice. But I'd like your ideas on how and when you would use it twice.

  • make another video with close up and of the metal.

The EDM is like an arc welder but submerged and uses sparks to make cuts right? Voltages are similar and so are amps.

  • The power supply is far more complex.

  • hola que tal. me gustaria saber si tu construiste esa maquina. yo quiero hacer una. me puedes dar alguna idea. gracias.

  • Hello the distance name is the GAP

this is be control whit the voltage if the voltage is to low it mean that the gap distange is to small is the voltage to high it mean the GAp distange is to Big.

but on the gap distange you have to put pulls to you XY cnc table.

  • hi... my question is about how you sensing if the wire get to close to the material? i mean it need a certain distance... if it's too far or too close it doesn/t work right...

    i worked on a tapecutw2 fanuc... around 98...

  • But you work on a fanuc, do you have to tabels of the generator, pulls? depend on the wire thickness of material ....

  • this is the big secret of the EDM wire manufators

  • Hello

The voltage begin 80 volt and go to 200volt, it depend what you like to do under the 60 volt you can not do anything about EDM cutting.

the distange of the spark depends of the µSiemens valeu whit 5µSiemens you don't get a spark anymore and higher as 60µSiemend to match spark.

    profesional 25µsiemens.

the current depend on the thikess of the wire material...... and also the puls.

But about that you will notting find, on the internet and very difficult to find anything about that

  • Comment removed

  • I'm interested in building an EDM machine. I have read a lot about this technology, (voltages, and pulse times, and so on), but, i cannot find any information about how much current needed to supply the spark, if it depends on the type of the material lets take this video for example. And the other thing is the voltage, 30-50, what i read, from how many distance could it make spark in distillation water??? thx for help

  • Great stuff, are you using variable feedrate control or just pausing Mach when required?

I assume it's an RC generator?

    Graham (also an edm head)

  • Hello,

The generator is the big problem to get a good cutting result.

But the is not a RC generator but whit transistor and a micro controler. the parmeters change whit material, thikness .

  • Wire erodes as it burns thru part. Normaly edm wire is perfectly round and tight tolerance in dia. It is not once it goes thru mmachine and diamond guides are a pretty close fit. Wire is one use.

  • can you re-use the wire or does it get burned up?

  • The wire don't burn up, but normaly it is use 1 time, on the place where you have you spark it will lose thikness

  • I like you using a take up reel to feed used wire on instead of just using pinch rollers to pull wire. Do you have any feedback to monitor power/wire speed? Is it strait DC or you putting any reverse pulses in to control corosion? Nice job!

  • Great work! Congratulations. Is there any source on the web (or book) for more detailled informations?
