Not sure about the requirements, Nelson. You say we need a 64 bits OS, yet the CM 9 "Base version" on your website says "32 bits ready". Is that version 100% compatible with 32 bits, or not really?
@windson7 It's a HD Resolution Texture Pack. With this pack you can have HDR ; HD Models ; Source engine from Orange box ect. . But you must have a 64 bits Windows , but the Cinematic mod 4 ( 32 Bits ) is cool ;)
I hate the main characters reskins, but I do like everything else, and giving the resistance fighters actual armor is a nice touch, instead of wearing a beanie for head protection. "AHHH I GOT SHOT IN THE HEAD BY A SNIPER! But my scalp is so warm and fuzzy from this hat."

That's just your opinion. Many of us see the new visuals as something that just NOT fit in with the Half Life 2 mood. There is a difference between "good graphics" and "good style". Many of us feel these upgrades are a poor style for HL2

I understand your viewpoint, but it's called "Cinematic" mod for a reason. It's just for people who want something different when they play through the game again, and I think it's a quite refreshing new playthrough. If you don't like it, then don't use it, it's as simple as that.

New textures look amazing, new character skins look like crap. They look like manikins from Macys now. Also the new soundtrack is crap, the original had the right kind for the right situation.
Character skins: They don't have any wrinkles, that's probably why. That, and they're a bit too shiny.
Soundtrack: I have to disagree with you here, I love orchestral soundtracks, and with a few exceptions, the selection of pieces is quite fitting and effective.
I like orchestral music as well but not for Half Life 2. Orchestral music in games exist to make the situation more "epic", and Half Life 2 is epic enough, the upbeat techno/rock tracks of the original soundtrack was a perfect fit for HL2.
Funny how everyone likes to talk shit about this mod, when it looks amazing for a 2004 game. If you don't like the new character models (I don't either) then don't install them, simple! Everything else in the Cinematic Mod is amazing. The new soundtrack gives it a movie - like feel, which is what I always thought of Half Life because of it's great story. And if there's something that you don't like, then go and make a new mod yourself instead of saying what YOU don't like.

You fail to realize people aren't complaining about the pornstar HD models themselves, but the lack of an HD 'normal' model. I haven't bothered downloading CM10, but last I checked the HD normal alyx was simply a reskin. Textures alone don't make the cut, simple as that. The issue here is that the author didn't stay as true to the game as many people would like.

Fact is this mod adds alot of great content for FREE. You dont like the HD models, then leave them alone. There were no HD models to begin with before this mod, so you're not missing out on anything.
pvt, did you intsall CM 9 Base, CM 9.5 update and CM 9 HD models? And you have to have completed HL 0 to start a new game. AND you have to use the new shortcut which says "Half Life (Ep0)" or "Ep1) for Episode 1, (Ep2) for Episode 2.
i install every thing all at once i got all hl2 stuff i got CM 4.0 but when i download this 1 it like asks me 4 next volume the only way i know how to do that is a disk maby i have to have windows vista lolz i got XP
cm 4.0??? That is old. Why not use the latest version of CM 9.5? It was actually written so CM can run correctly on 32 bit XP systems. (At least that's what I've read.)
Vista is useful because you can go over the 4GB (3GB actual) RAM limit imposed by 32 bit versions of XP since CM needs lots of memory for the HD models and such. I've got Win XP Pro myself and I can run CM, but sadly, not with the HD models, and that's with 2GB RAM.

I believe you install base 9.0 first, then then 9.5 update, followed by the HD addon. As to the other, you should be good with the 4GB and the GFX card.
Win 64bit is required because of the 2GB-per-process limit that Win 32bit has. So it isn't possible for HL2 with cinematic mod to use more than 2GB at once in Win 32bit. That's why you need Win 64bit.

Actually, I retract thy statement. I need to turn Textures to Medium. Otherwise, I keep crashing. It feels like a waste though. I always get of 60 FPS with everything maxed out.
It's sickening to see all these complaints over something that somebody must have had to put a great deal of their own time and hard work into making just to share their creation with the HL2 community.

If you prefer the original game and its characters, then play it

FF needs to get a dev team together (if he hasn't already) and make his own Source game using all off these models. Different characters with different names, all in a different game.

I use this mod, and it's pretty good if you want to step up the graphics for HL2, but the extra nude models and the jigglebones aren't really necessary.
I really like the mod, my only concern is the character models, if FakeFactory were to make a mod where the models of the characters were the same, (by same, I mean touched up, keeping the qualities VALVe intended but making the models look less 2004).
kind of a noob question i know but is this mod more cpu or gpu heavy i have a 9800 oc unfortunately i have a pentium 4 processor I think i get more fps on Crysis then Half Life 2 and if it increases the cpu req too much i dont think i should bother with the mod

The regular character models are still in the mod, and they are higher quality and texture than the original ones.
And Cinematic Mod 10 has an Alyx HD model that is identical to the original.

Fact is this mod adds alot of great content for FREE. You dont like the HD models, then leave them alone. There were no HD models to begin with before this mod, so you're not missing out on anything.

pvt, did you intsall CM 9 Base, CM 9.5 update and CM 9 HD models? And you have to have completed HL 0 to start a new game. AND you have to use the new shortcut which says "Half Life (Ep0)" or "Ep1) for Episode 1, (Ep2) for Episode 2.

cm 4.0??? That is old. Why not use the latest version of CM 9.5? It was actually written so CM can run correctly on 32 bit XP systems. (At least that's what I've read.)
Vista is useful because you can go over the 4GB (3GB actual) RAM limit imposed by 32 bit versions of XP since CM needs lots of memory for the HD models and such. I've got Win XP Pro myself and I can run CM, but sadly, not with the HD models, and that's with 2GB RAM.

I believe you install base 9.0 first, then then 9.5 update, followed by the HD addon. As to the other, you should be good with the 4GB and the GFX card.

Win 64bit is required because of the 2GB-per-process limit that Win 32bit has. So it isn't possible for HL2 with cinematic mod to use more than 2GB at once in Win 32bit. That's why you need Win 64bit.
