The base 2.0 will have an output of 200 bhp and they will produce a turbo'd version with around 265 bhp (but cars with turbos have alot of potential power-wise)
It's not bad... I own a 86 and I will be disappointed if this thing comes out with 150 hp I mean you have 6 cylinders pushing over 300hp why the hell will it push out that low? I know that they will make a base model but whatever..... TOYOTA! If your not going to to make this car bad ass don't bother! Cuz we 86 owners will just frown on it! And if you are! just slap that Sion stamp on it and call it a TC long live the real 86 Bitches!
I can't wait. I'll test drive one for sure...and most likely buy one if it handles the way it's supposed to. This is assuming it will be available in Canada. I hope they don't change a single thing about it's exterior styling. It's the best looking car I've seen that didn't cost over $100k.

It's powered by Subaru's 2.0-litre boxer engine, which puts out 146bhp in current production form but should develop slightly more in future iterations
@DarwinBlaine you wouldn't mind it having 150hp when you're paying 23k? well idk about you but the hundai genesis does exist and so does the 2011 v6 mustang and 2011 v6 camaro which all look great, and are rwd. If this doesn't have 200hp or more its not going to earn its name
thats still ok since its going to be light and theres simple in-expensive mods that you can do to boost your hp such as air intake, filters, sparkplugs etc.
car looks cool but needs to be $25,00 or less. It also needs a turbo version because a na 2.0 liter don"t cut it. Toyota does need to bring the supra back. It should be in the form of a twin turbo v6 powered car , $40,000 or so and compete with standard vette.
100% agree. I hope that they do come out with the turbo version in production. And it needs to be less than 25K. And the Supra can hold out longer, Im more excited about the rez of the Hachi. Im very excited about this car, I just hope we dont get shafted with this over priced 2.0 N/A nonsense.
They need to make this thing less than 20k, anymore than that and its not going to even be worth it. Would much rather just buy a WRX or something along the lines of a Genesis for the price they want the consumer for this. Hell, this thing makes buying a used car look much better too since 20k gives you a very wide range of decent foreign and domestic cars.
I see the new mustangs and camaros all over the streets!
the last time i heard was that the supra was suppose to be a 30k car. Plus. the FT-HS concept is still on the toyota website. Whether that be a supra or not, it doesn't mattter, it is just a name. Either way, it will be a performance car.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I saw that FT-HS concept model in Highschool freshman-junior year and it still hasn't changed yet. Also, since they boast 400hp with a smaller engine than the 370z that car will definitely be seeing a High 30's to low 40's base price range. The 370z hits a 4.7 with its sports package that cost 33k+. Mustangs are majority v6 models which are cheap and camaro go both ways. The supra fits the younger generation which most can't afford.
Wow all the 86 tools are eating this shit up. This thing has nothing to do with an AE86, its not even a Corolla for Godsakes. Besides, the 86 wasn't even that good of a car, what made it popular was because at the time of its release you couldn't find anything to really compare it to because everyone was going front wheel drive and stuff like ABS wasn't standard on most cars. I hate when I hear people talking about how awesome it was/is because they saw some animated character driving one...
When did I say it was one? This thing is just a ploy to get into the pockets of the next gen of mindless ricers. None of these people here jizzing there pants couldn't tell you the first thing about an 86 outside of what they watched on TV and Youtube, none of them could even afford this thing which will probably run 30k if it was ever sold.
Motortrend estimates the price at $22-23k and have a quote from the president of Toyota saying that the 2.0l NA engine isn't the last word on power for this car.
The FTHS isn't come out, come on now, its been rumored about and show for years now. With the LFA being tested the FTHS has scraped for sure as Toyota already hasits high performances vehicle for Lexus. The new IS fills in the gap left by the Supra.
The dude's accent does look slightly un-american lol
HWV the 86 reminds me the Myth of the Levin/Sprinter Trueno!! Even the japanese have some pedigree now! Sort of... Old jap cars are not round anymore not because of the rust (infact they rust a lot LESS than US cars of the period) but because they were bought to use them like a dishwasher or a vacuum cleaner, they were soulless objects. And they are, actually.
Toyota should have never ditched the Supra...They lost all my respect when they finally killed the Celica, the last cool car in their lineup. This can't come close if its a hybrid...The boxer engine is good but the hybrid setup is opposite of the ideal performance setup.
but still, it cant beat the Supra....they should literally just bring back the last generation of the supra and produce it exactly how it was ont the exterior wit some modern comforts and technology
It's powered by Subaru's 2.0-litre boxer engine, which puts out 146bhp in current production form but should develop slightly more in future iterations
