The film itself was good, it was on so I watched it and I enjoyed it.

The thing I dislikes most about the story itself was the fact that the murderer wasnt found, he did die and its good but in my opinion he should have been punished properly, he deserved much more than a painless death.

wow you seriously liked Mark Wahlberg's performance in this one? I thought he was plain terrible... Although pretty much all of the teenage actors except the lead girl and her sister were even worse. Tha Ray guy and "Disney" Holly girl made me cringe every single time they opened their mouths....

I thought the movie sucked. The movie and or the book could've easily been about any of the other victims. I just don't see how she was any more special than the other victims like for example like being the antagonists first victim or maybe the last? Anyway to me there just wasn't enough connections and communications from beyond the grave to the living to find the killer. It's like she knew who the killer was and pretty much mind controlled her dad into chasing after the killer.

I agree with you. The movie most certainly sucked, but not because of what you said. It sucked because the motive for the creation of the film, adapting the book, was inherently flawed in the hands of a director who had no idea what he was even doing at all with the intricate details of the novel. He failed to catch even the most simple subtleties, turned the in between into generic WDMC-style dreck, and censored the story so much it's not even there.

He is AMAZING ! I love his choice of words and how he so easily seems to express himself. Truly he should get a job in this, the beauty of his timing in all his expressions is something I enjoy above all us and his choice in movies are by far on cue with everything. All movies that he had given good reviews in I have watched and enjoyed. Truly he is someone that you should have on staff.

i love that movie!

that neighbor though..it makes you thing about life.

It was stunning and the graphics were amazing! It was kinda long though, so you have to be patient.

It's about the bonding after the death, so don't expect a ton of cool police stuff to happen.

It's well worth the watch, and it kills some time.

I don't recommend it for little kids though -_-... heh.

The actual ending is where an icicle hits the killers shoulder and it doesn't kill him, it distracts him and he slips off the edge of a mountain. It was a good film, but it never meets the first half hour of it and the ending doesn't feel like everything ties up nicely, so I'd give it 7 out of 10.

Just saw it 6 hours ago in Tokyo, very good movie, and would pay the 1800 yen to see it again. I'm not a big Mark Wahlberg fan, but the movie was outstanding, very sad and moving at times, and a full-two-hours, that kept you riveted to your seat, not a dull or boring moment in the movie, two hours went by, like 5 minutes. If you have young children, I wouldn't recommend bringing them to see it.

Saw the movie, I was quite entertained to say the least :) The visuals were how I expected from Peter Jackson (not comparing to Cameron's Avatar greatness however) and the plot touched my heart as well (both in movie and book).

The girl who played Susie Salmon was brilliant! she should get oscar or something for her role :D

This was a good review because it was your opinion. but i have to say this movie pissed me off in soooooo many ways i don't even know where to start. i guess the biggest thing is that the trailer made it seem like the girl was in some way going to help the people that she loved solve her murder by providing them clues or something like that. not the case AT ALL! and a bunch of other stuff made me mad but i think ill just make my own review instead of cluttering this up. 5 stars anyway!!!

For me, the movie made the strong line seem reaaaalllyyy dull. It had some beautiful sybomic touches.. But it moved quite slow. I mean, the book was very grabbing, and the movie didn't do it for me. It also never really stresses that she was raped. it's implying, but i've had to argue with idiots that have only seen the movie. I personally wouldn't suggest it for the theaters, unless you dont mind throwing 13$

Saw this movie after seeing this review, and I have to say I don't agree at all.

I felt this movie never really "picked up". It feels like it's just coasting along the whole time and there's never really any "impact" or intense parts. The most intense scene in the entire film is when the sister gets the wind knocked out of her by a fall.

I heard that in the book the girl gets raped before or after she gets killed

1. is this true?

2. If so how do they handle that in the movie?

It is totally possible that misheard this or am confusing it with something else....
