Eternal Champions has 0 mercy as a fighting game...You lose one match and you start all the way over from the beginning. The boss is uber cheap too! Final Fight was just released on XBL and PSN with another game included. It has an arcade screen mode which is really cool and online multi-player.

I definitely have the original Final Fight for the SNES, and my copy actually does support 1 to 2 players. I don't really remember the names of the characters, (the wrestler, the ninja, and the girl) but all 3 were usable characters...I don't know about the Sega CD version.
