Some naturals have noted this with the TT. One you tuber with waist length natural hair (Mwedzi) had to cut her hair b/c of the TT. I recently did a trim and held using the TT to compare what happens to my ends
I have noticed the same thing using the tangle teezer. In fact I just cut my hair because I had so many split ends and breakage. I was really sad because I loved using the TT and it cut my routine down a lot. however I went back to using my wide tooth comb and the denman
hey, i swear i was wondering the same thing about my hair. the tt is great but it rips my ends. I didn't notice this till i used it a few times. i'm scaling back usage. i'll detangle with a bigger comb and use the tt if i absolutely need it. it may be that the tt isn't harsher on 4c hair types. looser curled naturals may not have this problem.
oh my god I just made a vid on the same thing, and I conclude I just dont know its weird because I do love it but Ive been checking the strands and its cutting something is up!!!
I'm still transitioning so I don't have a response to your question really. I use the TT and it's been so helpful in detangling sessions while I transition. I HOPE so much that it's not causing breakage because when I BC, it'd hate to start with a set back.
I am with you. I stopped using my tangle teezer. It created breakage. I have a lot of short hairs in the center of my head and just so many splits! I didn't have that problem b4 the teezer and I have not changed anything else in my routine. I am hanging up the teezer. I loved it too, but I hate the idea of cutting all of my hair off for the sake of convenience.
I have fine 4a/b/C hair and my TT works so well that I only have to detangle Once a week. I 2 strand twist my hair with the kimmay tube leave-in or with my own shea mixture which contains-shea, cocoa butter, mango butter, coconut oil, and primerose oil. Primerose oil is good for stengthening hair and stopping breakage. I think you should try your old routine too and compare to TT before you really know. Check your TT and combs to see if the hairs still have bulbs on the ends. God luck!
Sorry about the breakage. I have fine 4a hair and I get less breakage from using my tangle teezer. I've noticed my hair is getting fuller from using the tangle teezer and not my wide D14 Denman. Maybe you can try using your old routine for 2 weeks and see if there is a difference from the TT, then come back to the TT and see what happens.
@tastiredbone I agree with you I find my tangle teezer is making my hair fuller and I'm getting less breakage, perhaps gozosa you can collect the hairs from each washing and detangling session and see if more hair comes out then before? Or like tastiredboned said perhaps switching back to your old routine and see if you get less breakage that way... Good luck! Child I'm not about the breakage neither, but if it means going back to your old routine that may be what's best ;-)
Your hair is almost exactly like mine, teeny coilies and all! Subscribing
