  • Gran Torino was a horrible movie. I felt so robbed by the time it was over. Clint Eastwood's movies (that is, the movies he directs) usually fall flat on their faces and just feel weird. I did LOVE Unforgiven, though, and i will concede that i liked Million Dollar Baby.

But Gran Torino had horrible acting, a horrible plot, and it just felt plain awkward. I don't understand the praise this movie gets. Maybe it's because Clint Eastwood spends the entire movie raving like a lunatic. I don't know.

  • how is it that Million Doller Baby won an academy award, but this movie got ignored? this is by far the better movie (don't get me wrong, Million Dollar Baby is a great movie, but this movie was an enjoyable expirence, while Million Dollar Baby was nothing but a huge downer).

  • Clint Eastwood is a great actor and a good director. But the movie wasn't creative (no, no it really wasn't). I do believe that once you've seen hundreds of movies, it's easy, you've seen this kind of story many times before. Anyways, it's just too bad that you'd go from something really unique to praising something which is dreadfully common. Sorry if I sounded a bit abrasive.

  • Hum, my reply somehow got lost.

Don't get me wrong, a LOT of people enjoyed this movie. It was actually nominated in the French movie awards for best foreign picture (can you imagine?) It didn't win however (to my relief).

I think you showed promise in your interpretation of Watchmen. It wasn't a movie everyone enjoyed but it was fresh, different a really creative.

  • I think you need to get more classics under your belt and it'll give you some more perspective to appreciate good movies and quickly identify common, drab and just beige movies.

  • @Sohardtofindaname1 I think you need to show a little more tolerance to other peoples opinions and understand that people enjoy different things. Just because someone loves a certain movie and states why he or she does doesn't mean simply because you don't agree that they have a lack of taste in film. That type of dogmatic thinking is unhealthy, rather than say I need to see more classics couldn't you recommend a film instead?

  • @FuryoftheFilmFan Hi. Let me rephrase this:

A lot of people enjoyed this movie, heck, it was even among the finalist in France for the best foreign picture (which it didn't win to my relief). I'll admit I'm not very tolerant but there is such a thing as "drab, recycled" movies. I didn't say it was horrible, it just lacked creativity.

  • I'm stunned that someone managed to appreciate Watchmen and somehow come to the conclusion that this movie was great.

The story IS a simple tale. Ah man, I had to stop watching. You showed promise in your appreciate of Watchmen but you show a lack of taste when it comes to this movie.

Million Dollars Baby was excellent but this movie was just so predictable and cliche, the complete opposite of the Watchmen. 0__0'

  • Sorry for spamming, the net messed up and I didn't see that my message got posted.

  • I liked this movie... it was what Dirty Harry might have turned out like as a elderly man.

  • I liked this movie... it was what Dirty Harry might have turned out like as a elderly man.

  • I liked this movie... it was like a ageing suburban Dirty Harry. What he might have turned out like as a elderly man.

  • Maybe he taught you more out of example, you dont always have to ram a bunch of words down everyones throat.

  • I think Clint comes across as old-fashioned more so than racist. He believes that a man should be a man and I agree. I grew up with people calling others by 'racial' nicknames. It's not discriminatory. Recognizing (and making fun of) ethnic differences is funny. It's strange to me how these activists get upset when cultural stereotypes are TRUE. Political correctness is a joke that isn't even funny. Get over yourselves and lighten up.

  • the movie was good i thought there would be more shooting in it

  • best movie i have seen in modern times

  • LOVED the movie, i think, and act just like walt, That scares me...

    The ending was REALLY sad

  • The film was great. The review pretty much dead on.

  • i loved this film. it was 1 of the best ive seen in years. i mite say dark knight was better, but they're 2 completely different movies. both were the best of their genres.

  • I love that film so much!!!

    It was beautiful! :)

  • I think that Clint Eastwood written his character racist was actually a brilliant idea. But not because i'm that type of guy. The fact that he was racist and didn't even know the people who he was being racist towards. Once he did get to know them he grew more of a heart towards them that shadowed his own family. I think this movie isn't racist at all, but it shows you that you shouldn't be racist to people you don't even know. Great film, DVD BUY FOR SURE

  • I enjoyed this film almost as much as watchmen....

    A classic.

  • the priest did kinda bug me

  • thats not ur family fighting at the start?

  • just saw the movie the other day. fantastic. golden fury award. the support cast are all right but eastwood stands head and shoulders above them all. had a grat suprise ending aswell

  • well racist...maybe...but his intentions are old fashioned though

  • I usually don't like movies like this...

But Clint Eastwood's performance was sheer perfection. If anyone else had played that part, I would have walked out of the theater thinking "That was a waste of $9.50" but he made every penny worth it.

Clint Eastwood, you are as good as they get.

  • I saw this last Night, it was fantastic it's one of eastwood's best recent performances.

  • i liked the movie especially since i have known and loved old men who were much like him (except they weren't so racist). i also just love clint eastwood- his finger is more intimidating than a real gun.

  • that's the symbolism of it

  • Great movie. I kept thinking of the Tom Highway character from "Heartbreak Ridge" while watching "Gran Torino" and thinking that maybe that Kowalski is how Highway would have ended up. I reckon one should watch the two films back to back.

  • Yea I thought that too.

  • man, you disect a movie like a bug,...you know every part and what it does.

I saw the movie and liked it,..because I have liked Clint Eastwood since the spaghetti westerns.

Why I liked it? You just told me.

    You are Sigmund Freud.

  • i normally agree with ur reviews. but this one im on the other side. it was ok, but it seemed like it was an old man trying to be young and didnt quite get it. it was soo boring!

  • Let me clarify a little better. Yeah, obviously the film had to have some comic relief but when it started to get serious, I didn't want to laugh. Clint Eastwood is the perfect man for this role. I couldn't possibly imagine a more, tough, racist, old mother fuc*** than he was. Clint Eastwood makes this a good movie but I REALLY wish that this wasn't a funny movie. I kept debating throughout the first 2 acts, is this a comedy or a drama? Sure, the ending is serious, and it's a damn good one.

  • I saw this and Taken today, I have to say that Gran Torino was a good movie but I think that Taken was better. This movie was REALLY well done but some parts dragged a little. I really wanted this movie to be a violent drama instead of a serious comedy. If this wasn't as funny and intended to be a more serious film, I might have liked it a little more. I would give it a silver award

  • I saw this movie today absolutley loved it. I will definently take a look at clint eastwoods other films now.

  • If this movie doesn't get the Academy awards, I'll kick someone in the nuts.

This movie was very powerful: It's badass, unsuspectingly funny, and the ending was so symbolic...fucking amazing.

  • love the begening

  • I live in Germany and my cinema doesn't show it yet. I will definitely watch it when it comes! I absolutely adore Clint Eastwood!

  • the ending made me cry

  • I just went to see this film. I totally agree with your sentiments, Clint Eastwood did an amazing job. The ending was deep, and not what i expected. Thanks!

  • This movie is a very powerful and awesome film, to me, it should get film of the year,

  • Hey man i have been busy but finaly got internet back and i starter to see your reviews. And When i went to my cousin´s house i found Gran Torino and i saw it because i am a big fan of Clint Eastwood. And i am impressed to this film, is so well acted that you cant felt how old Bastard he is! and then i love the ending it was so umpredictable. I hope is nominated for the oscars!

    And keep the great job

  • Want To see the real movie plus more go to allmovies(.)ssr(.)be

  • ''This video made my day'' - 1315229

  • good review.thanks.

  • I'm so glad this movie showed in one of the theaters here. I know it should be opening wide soon anyhow, but I couldn't wait to see it. It was excellent. One of the best films as of late. I got so into the movie that I was literally restless in my seat from anger when... you know when... I wanted to go find those people and treat them like Dirty Harry would have...

  • Hey whats the Fury trivia song anyone know?

  • joe cocker "with a little help from my friends"

  • Fuckin pussy-cake...

  • Thank you for the review. I've been on set with Clint in "Letters from Iwo Jima" and tried to get on this one but it wasn't in my stars. I have good Hmong actor friends in this film and they gave Mr. Eastwood great reviews as well. Can't wait to see it.

  • how the hell did u manage to get on the set with clint eastwood?

i mean ive beenon set with daniel radcliffe and emma watson and rupert grind, but never clint eastwood

  • Finally a good review, you actually talk about the movie, unlike other review where all they do is revolve around Clint, I mean he was the main character but the movie is about life (pretty much in the ghetto) and the generation of kids these day. It contrast back and forth really well between the rich neighborhood and the ghetto. Where are all the rich people are care free and whiny, and in the ghetto that there is good people, and there are bad. Showned how society work

  • This movie was probally the most enjoyable out of all the movies ive seen this year i def reccomend it

  • Excellent film go see it!

  • thanks for the review Fury spot on it was a great film

  • one of the last actors that give a dam about the film /people whatching ,not like pyco tom crusie !

  • You nailed the review man. I've read a lof reviews of this film but yours has been the most pleasant and one that I've agreed with the most. This is the first review of yours I've seen and i'll be looking for more.

  • I actually did see this today! Great Film!

Loved his acting and the ending really took the cake!

  • nice movie...good acting nice review

as a movie it's awsome, but I half way hate it.

every minority in the movie that isn't the protaganist or related to the protaganist in a good way is evil or barely exist.

gangs don't do the things they do because that's "who they are" it's because gangs are nothing but weak individuals being manipulated by being drawn into a group by promises of companionship and safety..but for a price...

  • My dad sold the the car to this movie

  • okay... =}

  • thanks for this beutiful review

  • You're a really good reviewer. I'm definitely going to see this one.

  • GreatbReview man, you are truely the new Mr Black. Keep it up

  • Amazing movie right here, got to screen it in hollywood a few nights ago,its better than 7 pounds ill tell ya that.

  • Great review! Loved the way you involved the stories of your grandpa. Cute :D

  • Damn, how did you get to see it??? It isn't shown anywhere around where I am, not unti January apparently...

  • it's showing in limited engagements. plus it's advanced screening time here in New York. I had a choice to see Valkyrie or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Dec.16 but since there was some snow I had to stay at work and miss them both. Doh!

  • great review, keep it up!

  • i've seen adds for this movie, but no trailer and i have been wanting to see this movie after i looked in to it, but it never seems to be playing at any theater i go to. is this one of those select movie theater movies?

  • Since I first saw the trailer for this film (show before Repo! The Genetic Opera)I have been eager to see it and hearing you're reaview insures for me that my thoughts on the trailer won't be wrong. This spoiler free reaview was great. Also, thank you for shareing such a personal story with us, it was touching.

  • the last scene made me choke and laugh at the same time....awesome film

  • AMEN to Clint Eastwood no AMEN to the asian actors they sucked at acting i could have done better

  • loved the review! your doing a great job with reviews keep it up! im definatly subscribing!

  • Fury, please keep up the good work.

  • good review fury

  • Yo are such a good reviewer. Keep it up.

  • thanks for the great video. i'm definitely seeing this now.

  • Very well done, Fury. I love Clint Eastwood's Directing as much as I like his acting. I totally understand the view in children and everything like you said. I am 18 and I am picking up on this. I really connected with the grandfather comment in the beginning. I never got to spend time with my Grandfather for too long, since he had a lot of other major problems in his life, and I never got to see him except for the last 7 years of his life, but he was a great man, and I will respect him always.

  • Great review Fury I want to see this movie now.

  • hey not all kids are whiny littel bitches

  • no, but the ones who run all over their parents and only get time outs end up being particularly jerky when they grow up.

  • You know it almost bothers me when great movies come out because I usually can't spare the ten bucks to go see them. Stupid economy. I'll definitely try to catch this on DVD if I miss it in theaters.

  • Hey Fury, r u black by any chance???

  • that baby don't look black to me

  • good review fury. is this film now one of your favorite movies of the year?

  • yea, this is one of the top 10.

  • Take that as a no.

  • Clint Eastwood has been for me one of the most excellent actors since The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. But i agree the with you, and the movie. kids have become so stupid and i know from experience because iam 14. Kids at my school think they are though but they arent and i never got that grandpa to grandson talk because one of my grandpas died before i was born and the other was here at the USA and i was in another country (iam not a born citizen).

  • who did the Beatles cover at the beginning?

  • Joe Cocker. It was actually the theme to the show The Wonder Years which the opening is an homage to.

  • nice, someone got it!

  • I like to see historical stuff :)

  • If This is Eastwood Last Movie Then what a way to go is sad that we loose a great actor but at the same time you have to know when is time to hang the gloves we will miss Eastwood if this is really this last film Then Gracias por todo por las memorias que nos dejas en las peliculas y un gran aplauso a el Sr Eastwood(Thank you for the memories that you leave us with an a big round of aplause for Mr Eastwood)

  • Great song in the background: lynyrd skynyrds tuesdays gone!

    good video by YOU also!!

  • Amazing Review fury! Really touching.

  • Great review Fury! I didn't really have an interest to see this movie, but now I do.

  • Great review Fury. Thanks for review.Keep up the goo work up.

  • Eastwood will probably die on set and camera. Retirement? Believe it when I see it.

  • Fantastic review Fury.

  • Once again, man, I'm loving the personal touches you put into your explaining your love of the movie. Great review.

And yeah, Clint looks like a BAD. ASS. in this film. I really want to see it.

  • one of your best review! now i really want to see the movie

  • Good review. The only problem I had with the review was I don't like the cover for that Beatles song. However, at least it fit with what was going on in the review.

  • Looks great!

  • nice review man

  • good job fury

  • Once again fury, you prove that you know EXACTLY what you are talking about when you review any movie! And make it very special at the same time. I aplaud you for this review.

  • Great review, fury :)

  • I especially remember the scene in the cellar where Toad (Yeah i know) asks Walt "What was it like to kill a man?" And Walt looked him pissed in the eyes and said: "Youghhh dohghhn't wannrahghga know." I really rolled my eyes, i simply didn't believe him. Maybe it's just the script and the dialogs but i was not impressed by his performance at all.

  • Sorry but for me the movie does nothing. It is - in my opinion - completely overrated. I have seen so many movie which are just like Gran Torino, the only difference is that they are better. An old man tries to fix some things in his life before he pasts away. Another problem for me were the performance from anybody seen in this movie. I heard that most of the Asian actors are not even real actor, and you can clearly see it, they are bad. And i think Clint's performance wasn't good either.

  • whats wrong with ww2 documentaries?!

but if u were a kid i guess why u hated it

  • Fury i know you are not a sell out but IMO you deserve percentage from this movie. Awesome review man. that they should use excerps from this review and make it a tag line.

  • what a build up for the review, man,u made me almost cry T-T!

  • I doubt this is his last movie.

  • My god-

Well done tying some personal meaning to this film!

  • i loved the intro!

  • I got to see Gran Torino this weekend and I really liked it. Excellent movie.

  • Thanks matey, I wouldnt have bothered with this film if I hadnt seen this video.

  • Great review as usual! I'm looking forward to watching this movie! :)

  • Shoo! Stupid first Commenters, Shoo! Nobody likes you!

But we luff you Fury :3

  • what's better than having the honor of the first comment on a legenadry movie :P

  • Not making us read it.. Shoo!
