I tried to convince my family to turn off the lights for just an hour.I couldn't do it myself because I was marching in the center of our town along with other adherents of the Earth Hour campaign. Guess what?At 9:15pm my sister was on the computer, my father watching TV,my mother washing and cleaning the house.I bugged them for a whole week..what else could I do?Next year I'll stay home to do it myself.I couldn't see a building with ALL the lights off..there's always be someone to spoil it all

the idea of 'earth hour' is for us humankind to reflect what have we done to the mother nature...it seems nonsense to some people but it gives inspirations to the others to think of better ideas of creating sustainable future/greener word

No, these kids know what they're talking about. I know some of them. This aired during american idol on wednesday, which was being watched my over 3 million people. So many places like NY, San Fran, Cali, and DC are turning off their lights. Earth Hour is really popular. These kids arent the ones that dont know what they're talking about, YOU ARE.

Ok no. Everyone of the comments i saw here is WRONG. I KNOW some of these kids, they know EXACTLY what they're talking about. This commercial aired during American Idol on Wednesday March 24, 2010, and at that moment, American Idol was being viewed by over 3million people. No, it does NOT matter if people watch TV or something, everybody still saves TONS of energy. The eiffel tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, Coca Cola sign in New York, and even a few lights at the White House.

Out of over 8500 hours in the year, we are going to turn the lights off for 1? What are people going to do? They are going to watch TV or go on the computer! What do you think they are going to do? They produce Co2. This is propaganda through and through. And I'm sure very few people have heard of this. I just found out about it and I watch for stuff like this. It's just to make you feel better about yourself while still doing the same thing. Want to reduce energy consumption? Buy and install solar light tubes, use passive solar, solar power, solar water heaters, rain barrels. This is not a real solution of any kind.
