  • Atheism brings rise to state atheism of those like Stalin, Mao, etc.

  • The founders of your nation do not share your sentiment, if possible try not to be a moron in the future.

  • With god, liberty is safe? Then how the f# does a government full of religion people attack our rights? Madison disagrees, "In no instance have... the churches been the guardians of the liberties of the people." Your god wants to f# liberty, that's a fact. Secular government has a better protection of liberty than a f#-ing theocracy: no freedom of speech, no privacy, no equality, cruel and unusual punishment, ect. Go see video responses.

  • @Bourtini Essentially, it's people that make rights and govern themselves, if it were left to religion then no one would have their liberty. Does your religion teach that you can abandon the faith or that people can manage their own lifestyle? No. Once it entangles with government do you expect to be free? No.

  • Asinine histrionics

  • How come so many paedophiles are christians hey? Fucker, answer that one you cunt.

  • You took the red pill. If only you had taken the blue one.

  • Serriusly dude, you should try reading Lev 25 that you show at 0:53.

It is the exact oposite of liberty.

  • LOL! You're pathetic even for a creationist.

  • Congratulation for your golden crocoduck nomination!

  • Yahwah and Allah are names given to the same God. I'm not surprised an American Christian was unaware of this.

Jesus is an Islamic Prophet and the Bible one of Islams Holy Books.

Perhaps you'd like to do some research into the God you claim to worship and your fellow worshippers? Research devoid of confirmational bias if that is not too much to ask. Then you might be able to remake this video dealing in fact rather than fancifal proclamation?

    Regards,

  • God= no logic

  • Please read about our founding fathers. . . .they went out of there way to make sure separation of church and state. . . You need to start with Thomas Jefferson,Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin. . . .

  • =D

  • What a load of crap. So as we "move away from God we move away from liberty." What liberty is there in slavery? What liberty is there is racism? God does not protect liberty. Liberty protects your God. The world did not come into existance when your mother pushed you out. Where has your God been for thousands of years? If you look at some of the freeist nations in the world you will see the lack of religion, and no the United States is not one of them.

  • In response to the assertion that the U.S. is the most God-centered nation.

From the U.S. Bill of Rights: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."

From the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran: "There is only one God. Understanding God's divine nature is fundamental in setting laws. Human beings return to God after death. God is just. Leadership shall continue the revolution of Islam."

Sorry. Looks like Iran's got us beat.

  • Hahahahaha.

  • The Bible takes away a LOT of 'God given' rights.

Oh yeah, look at that spiffy contradiction.

Have you ever thought God is offensive? And that your little religion takes away rights of others?

  • I have to say, I disagree with you on pretty much every point. America was not founded as a Christian nation. It was always meant to be secular. And it was. "In God we trust" and "One nation under God" were all phrases that were added later. Particularly, I dislike your assertion that God is responsible for our morality. In a single sentence you take all the hard work of men and women who made this nation just and gave all the credit to God.

  • what?!?! Yahweh= freedom? nu uh!!!

Having the threat of hell looming over your head isn't really freedom. Ever heard of Sweden?

    @1:15 ... and god can't?

  • If you sit home waiting your turn you deserve to have your gun taken from your cold dead hands.

The Founders didn’t wait for the Brits to knock down their doors. They gathered at the green and stood up like men and they killed government employees all the way back to Boston.

What will you do when it’s time to hunt NWO hacks, republicrats and commies(“Liberals” and ‘progressives’)?

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first.

  • For power and tyranny to grow God must be made less? Are you familiar the continent of Europe? Do you have at least a brief cursory knowledge of it's history? It was religion and the idea of an angry god that allowed the Catholic church to spread like a cancer from country to country. It was God that was made MORE to allow for power and tyranny to grow to the point of religiously focused and justified wars. Thats how religion has been and always will be. Don't try to justify this bull shit.

  • ....bunch of jargon cut together to seem like theres truth to what he is talking about. If you belive what this guy is saying then you have WAY to much faith. ...People just cause you been told from childhood that to have to have faith(aka ingnorance) doesn't mean you cant learn to be skeptical and question illogical crap. If you were told from childhood by your parents and priests that islam, or a magical space unicorn is responsible for creating the universe that is what you would belive.

  • Nice hair. *()* °Π°

  • Is this about the HOLY ONE. Of NOAH AND OF DAVID.or is this your personal doctrine using the HOLY LAW as a cloak.

  • Try translating liberty into greek then continue

  • I pity you, thinking that materialism is the only thing you can know...and it may be the only thing YOU can know. That's unfortunate. You appear to only believe what you can see and touch; even the scientific community admits the existence of many things we can not see or touch. Great minds like Einstein admitted that God must exist. Your problem appears to be that your ego has allowed you to believe that you are your god and that your little world of "stuff" is your religion. Sad.

  • this guy is as transparent as a hole in the wall..anyone with a bullshit detector can smell this guy from a mile away. his style and demeanor remind me a lot of Kirk Cameron.

  • You appear to be the dolt! I don't know what history books you read but you've obviously only retained partial truths and you appear to be a great example of what the grand indoctrination of our public school system produces. Whether or not the founding fathers professed to be "Christians", they almost unanimously believed in God. Did they act as perfect Christian should? No...they were imperfect, as are we; their world view was often flawed and materialistic...just as most of us today.

  • @DaddyDAJ

materialism is flawed?..materialism is the only thing we CAN know (as of now)..materialism isn't a flawed concept. it's intellectual honesty. strong belief in this unknowable realm called the spiritual realm, is done so on faith..faith is pretending to know something u can't know..as of now, the spiritual realm exists only in the mind. many want it to exist, so, faith is the outlet they use for confident belief, when, in all rationality, certainty should be the last thing merited.

  • god this guys an idiot, god and liberty are nothing alike, america was founded upon secular views, only a small minority of the founding fathers were even christian. most were deistic or atheistic. atheism it funny how you say that this nation was founded upon god when again most of the founding fathers were not christian and made this nation secular. founded upon secularistic views. shall i lie like TAA? Iraq was founded upon christian views as well. see i can also lie about it like him above

  • Hmmm, yes, liberty under God. Unless, of course you displease him. I mean, you're free to do so, but much like every man-made law you must suffer the consequence. Your claims are for American christians, because your Liberty Bell means nothing in, say, Canada? And the original forefathers of America aimed for a country that does not judge on the grounds of faith. Atheists have the same liberties there as do christians, muslims, mormons, etc.

  • @AtheistEnthusiast I don't think they realize how backwards they sound when they say (A) that your freedom comes in your 'free' choice between two masters and (B) should you choose the wrong master, eternal damnation looms over your heads. It makes no sense that they regard this guy as a 'source' of liberty when he even goes so far as to ban you from wearing clothes with mixed fabrics and other such trivialities...

  • Your kidding right? Is this a joke? Only 2 founding fathers even admitted they believe in a God. Also, i'm pretty free right now without religion...I'm not going to be sent to hell for not worshipping a God.

  • I love this guy! I used to think he was retarded - now I use him for ideas for my Atheism vids. Superb!

  • If god is indispensable to liberty, how come Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin rejected him? Why did Hitler accept him?

  • Wow, this is some of the most blatant and source-less propaganda that I've seen in quite some time.

  • Wow, you really riled the pagans up with this one, huh? I stopped by to compliment you. Very well said.

  • @usa1bruce

so gullible..how could u have taken this nonsense seriously?..u get all swept up in the fancily delivered apologetics, huh?

riled up the pagans?..what's with this shit of calling atheists pagans?..last time i checked, i didn't believe in any gods, let alone several..

  • @itzahazylife

Like I give a shit what YOU think.

  • @usa1bruce

i didn't think u would, since u obviously prefer the babbling of Kirk Cameron's brother.

  • @usa1bruce

no god = no liberty? bullshit

we're an intelligent species..we can apply reason to our reality. our morality has evolved over many centuries..many years of learning what allows a human civilization to prosper most efficiently and peacefully for all..we are by no means perfect, but have come a long way..the concept of liberty is an evolved concept that originated in the thoughts and experience of man, not some god being.

  • So the thousands of years of injustice and cruelty at the hands of religion are being brushed under the carpet here? Okay....

Should we also ignore the fact that crime rates are highest in ther most religious countries and lowest in the least religious countries? Okay...

And while we're at it can we also try and forget all the hatred and injustice supposedly advocated by your god in the bible? Cool...

Wow, hiding from reality makes all the troubles go away, huh?

  • "No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship or ministry or shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief, but all men shall be free to profess and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion. I know but one code of morality for men whether acting singly or collectively." Dont hate america, Antidote lol

  • You love 3 or 4 clapper words but you seem pretty brainwashed but, it does look like you read that speech over quite a bit of times though......Edit that video much? FUCK YOU!

  • So submitting to the christian god means you have more liberty?

    lolwut?

  • @EricTheNihilist They do this mental trick all the time. I go to this one site that has user submitted content....and when they see something they dont like, they say this website is BIASED and its against their FREEDOM. If this was unbiased and free website, they would only allow only the videos THEY WANT and allow them to ban the people THEY DONT LIKE. And they literally have no sense of irony AT ALL. These people do some real mental trickery just to function, i tell you.

  • Government does fear God, it uses him as one more tool to keep the masses enslaved.

  • But dude

Democracy means the people choose rulers. I LMAO IN YOUR FACE!!! SCHWING!!!!

Also many of the founding fathers were atheists and agnostics and almost all of them questioned the authority of the church.

  • But dude

Democracy means the people choose rulers. I LMAO IN YOUR FACE!!! SCHWING!!!!

  • Actually during the tsar autocracy religion was a necesary element to control people as, in a way, it is today, though today religions control morality

  • Not all secularists are statists. Read Ayn Rand

The foundation for freedom is man as a rational creature.

  • Humans are free by nature, for our lack of instinct, we're somehow less bound to nature and uncontrolable behaviors. Instinct is replaced y reason, which give us will, something animals don't have (no ur dog does not WANT to go outside, ur dog NEEDS to go outside, to pee or to poo). Anyone who wants to take over the that liberty is going against our human nature and will either fail or create violence (which is fail too). Haven't u read Aristotles or Thomas Aquinas?

  • This is by far the most disgusting video of yours that i have watched. Liberty is the belief that humans can and should govern themselves. The god of the bible is an anti-liberty dictator-like figure who demands absolute and complete devotion and worship and would definitely consider the idea of humans governing themselves to be blasphemy. In fact, judging from his little temper tantrum in genesis, he would probably consider those who govern themselves to have "strayed away".

  • "If it is not God who grants your own personal liberty, who in fact does ensure certain inalienably rights?"

I do, when I fight for them.

  • The Christian God is the only source of freedom.

That is way in the middle ages, when almost all people in Europe were Christians, everybody had freedom, and all governments were democratic.

  • @SCBUAD

The failcopter is coming to pick you up...

  • Man doesn't grant freedom - freedom is a fact of life. Whether one is a slave or a statesman, one is free to act however one wishes. It's unwise to do some things when one is in certain positions, and we have laws to avoid those positions.

Freedom is given by your god? No; freedom is a constant which accompanies our existence. If anything, your god is a threat to many freedoms (free thinking, sexuality, and firefighters working on Sundays, to name a few).

I'd quote Pirsig, but I'm out of sp

  • @commiesarentcool More than likely, those atheists weren't raised atheist.

If you want to compare atheist killers vs religious ones, by all means add up the plethora of American serial killers, as an overwhelming majority were religious (mostly Christian at that). Add in Hitler and the Crusades. That right there should enough to turn the tides of "Top Kill Counts" to religious people. Add in the religious murders, suicide bombers, "terrorist" groups. Relatively few, hot button named, atheists.

  • Gov't is supposed to ensure everyone's rights, despite the fact that they did not grant them. Everyone is natural born with rights.

Outside of man? Moving the goal post. If there's only Man and gods as options, and we remove gods from the selections, then what's left is Man. Now you remove that, too? Since we died for them, why not lay claim on our own authority? Otherwise, those deaths would be senseless.

Atheism does not mean immorality, or "might makes right." Do some research.

  • @kingmystyk Atheism may not mean immorality, but why is it that atheistic governments were and are responsible for more death than any other throughout all time? They have killed more than all of the theocracies of the middle east ever have not that they are mush better. Maybe you should tell all those murdered by Mao and Stalin that they had natural rights and should have stood up for them.

  • Non-denomination prayer of and for what religion? That's right, Christianity. The gov't adoption of any particular religion is against the constitution. Adding "In God We Trust" to our money (God added 1864) as well as adding God to our Pledge of Allegiance (God added 1954) are also unconstitutional for the very same reason.

These gov't controls are done with Christian persuasion. After all, what were Bush's announced justifications for the Patriot Act and invading another country?

  • Limiting state control so that individuals' freedoms may be upheld is NOT the same as more focus on God, and that leap is not based on anything but wishful thinking.

The British empire held God in the highest regards, and because of the things they did with God in mind, our nation was rooted in escaping such dominance over freedoms.

The lack of belief in a God has no bearing on where people can live, what they can eat, etc.

Keep in mind that our gov't is predominately filled with Christians.

  • The state does not grant us our rights. It grants us freedom from the state being able to remove our rights.

Our nation wasn't founded on religion (read the constitution, as there's no deity mentioned). If we are a nation founded on the principle that God is the only true source of liberty, then why did the founders decide it best to keep church and state separate?

The Roman Catholic Church limited people's rights when they were in power...contradicts your theories.

  • I'm an atheist and dislike all religions but I must admit that I enjoyed your video. You said that without God we only have the State and that any rights that the State gives to us can also be taken away. I sort of agree with this. It's unfortunate but almost true. A dilemma for any atheist.

However, I suggest that the problem is simply one of semantics. If one takes it as self evident that "The Universe" or "Existence" itself grants us those rights then it's not hard to dismiss the State.

  • Of course! I'll give up freely believing what I want to believe and start living my life and basing my own opinions the expectations of a higher being because some guy on YouTube tells me to. THEN I'll be free!

  • so, we will have no rights because we don't follow god, or we will be removed from every single right BY those who DO follow god?yes, not referring to those from the secular world, but as american churchianism spreads its rotten core towards.. say... uganda, things like gay rights have to be taken to account.

  • exodus 21:20-21

"And if a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. 21If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property."

  • No.

  • Wasn't the major trampling of freedoms done right after 9-11 and done so by a "Godly" president known as "W"? Where he thinks of god and consults gods word before doing anything? You talk as though you actually have a clue, yet when it comes to actual facts, you're more than a little light. As an Atheist, I was in the USAF defending the freedoms which all hold dear, yet I needed no god to actually defend them. Why? Because they are Human Freedoms.

  • Do you actually think America is a free nation? Are you kidding me? You are free to obey and do what ever our gov tells you to do.

  • Whose god? Why is your 'god' the one and true god? Can you please explain, without offending millions of non-Christians and others whose faith is not the same as your faith? And don't you dare compare the secular movement to Stalin or Pol Pot. Don't ever make that comparison again, you disgusting, vile and intolerant jerk. Yes, intolerant, because the moment to elevate your faith above others' faiths (or lack of), you are a simple bigot.

  • The title really got my attention! Are you serious? If there is no god, there are no commandments and no threat of hell, isn't that more liberty already? I guess i'm not getting it... :\ Please explain yourself, no poetry just simple words.

  • Where is the Bible is liberty and freedom? The part where slavery is OK or the part where you render unto Caesar? Are thought crimes a part of liberty or Freedom?

  • How do you explain atheist libertarians like myself and Penn Jillete?

  • You can have my liberty...... I don't want it.

  • how could any Christian willingly participate in a prayer that doesn't acknowledge Jesus?

  • Don't belittle my liberties with your tripe about invisible wizards in the sky being necessary for freedom. Christians have done nothing but oppress others whenever they're given the chance to do so. That is why so many rational well informed people fear religious influence in government.

  • I live in the Netherlands. A distinctly secular nation in western Europe. I have the freedom to say whatever I want, I have the freedom to fulfill my potential to the fullest thanks to government funding my university education (which I will later repay in taxes, extending the same benefit to others.) I have the freedom to marry the person I love regardless of gender. I even have the freedom to end my life with dignity when faced with terminal illness and an agonizing death. Etc etc etc.

  • @Sybsop And according to this moron you and I are not free, regardless of faith or lack of it. I nearly didn't make it through this video without puking. At least it is comforting to see more thumbs down than up! Oh, and I think the Netherlands is a far more open and progressive society than America has become. You're very lucky!

  • many countries dont involve god and they are a heel of a lot more free than the united states

  • According to the old testament, your god is a raging dictator, I mean even the emperor from Star Wars can't beat that.

  • what the... Almost every country in Europe is more free than America.. (and also more secular)

  • Atheism is a step up not backward or down. Atheists are the most religiously knowledgeable people, that's why we are atheists.

  • Nice to see you're still as delusional as ever. Lets have one more go...for old time's sake, yeah?

First, you're still confusing atheism with political affiliation (Liberalism, mostly).

Second, America's freedom (which you think is so great) was founded by people running away from a country with only God's freedom.

Lastly, "might makes right" is a phrase I don't believe I have EVER heard a secularist utter... no in fact im pretty sure its always come from republican christians...

  • Well that didn't take long for it to be made clear that this video contains nothing but ignorance. An essential liberty that America was founded on is the secular principle of freedom of and from religion. The author of this so called 1st amendment made this clear.

  • This video has fail written all over it.

The idea of liberty, democracy and freedom is nowhere in the Bible, the only thing you are going to find in the Bible are tyrannical Kings, feudal Lords and slavery.

Trying to say that the source of Liberty is a Christian idea is stupid because for thousands of years Kings and Dictators have used the Bible and religion to justify their rule saying that there authority comes from god himself and use the bible to back this up. (cont. Part 2)

  • Comment removed

  • Part 2

Understanding this concept you know than that the people of the time understood that if they disobeyed the King they would not only have their heads roll but they would find themselves in hell for it so they were reluctant to turn against him. This idea of course was being ingrained in European culture for almost 2,000 years via Christianity.

Solution around this mental block? convince the people that freedom comes from god.

You see this statement was just a tool to get people to move.

  • what makes you think, america is the "freest nation in the world"?!?

  • @magicfunghi

His 24/7 brainwashing tells him that.

  • The Bible is a gigantic list of limitations. Things you can't say, eat, make, etc. Also, slavery is acceptable according God.

"Our Creator" isn't the God of the Bible. Most of the founding fathers were deists and made it VERY clear that religion was to remain separate from the State.

  • Funny how religions are always a set of rules that take liberties away........so claiming that the xtian religion is the source of freedom........./drool.

  • the easiest way to control the masses is to say "god wills it"

  • Baseless assertions that any particular god exists, how fun. Zeus bless you.

  • "secular extremism" olololo

this is why nobody takes you seriously

  • I have once felt emptiness in my life, it was a horrifying feeling, that I had no purpose or goal, and no pleasure of the earth could satisfy the empty pit. That is the part where God comes in and fills it with love, which helped me to begin living a content life.

Keep shoving the fun and pleasurable things in your face, to bury all your problems but you will not go too far and you will feel the emptiness even more when it comes.

  • emotive language!

  • you argue that Islam means submission and that your god is the way to liberty, but are you not asking me to submit to your god?

  • @andrewtwill856 Islam does mean submission. The difference is; the false god of islam forces you to submit. The one true God gives you the choice. It's not submission if you've chosen to love him.

  • @alkalinefan311 Yes I am aware that Islam does actually mean submission, but when you say "god gives you the choice," being raised catholic I was never given the choice. God was presented to me as fact, and I was not given the option to think otherwise. Also, I'm confused how you can know that your god is true and others are false... can you understand my confusion? I ask this not to offend or annoy you, I really am honestly curious to hear your reasoning.

  • @alkalinefan311 Do what I say or burn in Hell forever. What choice is that?

  • How can anyone believe that god = Liberty? If you are a Christian, Muslim or Jew and truly, deeply believe in a one, all powerful being then you essentially believe in a never ending dictatorship. One where "his" word is law and your ownly option is to follow it.

Yes, there may have been (and still are) governmental dictatorships but at least those can and have been overthrown. If you think there really is a god then you don't have that chance. You can never and will never overthrow "him".

  • Edit: I'd like to apologise for my blatent misspelling of the word only ("ownly"! DOH!)

  • @pushmane you're looking at God from a natural perspective, which is clouding your logic. God is supernatural, all powerful, and all loving. He is also just. God is not a human dictator that needs to be overthrown.

  • Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.

Loving v. Virginia (upholding anti-miscegenation law).

As a white guy engaged to a Spanish girl, I must disagree with your premise. Same thing if I were a Puritan girl that someone had a grudge against.

  • @recount09 funny thing that you see i dont throw out my history YOU do that I dont the ancient Egyptian empire was going on around the time your little worldwide flood happened so either the flood happend or god put them on another barge im going with the former

  • Non belief in god = liberty.

Liberty from the fear of persecution, physical or spiritual, for your beliefs, sexual orientation, etc

Liberty from having to bend knee to a metaphysical concept, and instead being able to live as your own person

Liberty to do as you see fit with your life, not as some mystical sky-father tells you.

  • It frightens me that you believe my rights come from your imaginary friend.

  • The Islamic world that you denounce is what you seek. A nation under God and ONLY God, the secular has no place there.

May your god help America if you get your wish!

  • damn that's a whole lot of red in the ratings.

  • "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." Article 6 US Constitution

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" 1st Amendment

Why don't you follow the constitution, Brock?

  • Yes, so inextricably linked to liberty that people would be burned at the stake for being heretics.

  • I hate to disappoint the masses, but in concern with the founding of America, Brock's right. Where the founders might disagree, is with the definition of "God". To many, not all, of the founders, God was a concept that was less anthropomorphic than the fundamentalists vision of what God is today (or then). Between Locke, Spinoza, and the Egyptian concept (later turned god) Ma'at, our founders found their God, and created America based on that understanding.

    It's history, not religion.

  • @ravenslaves You think some of the Founders were pantheists?

  • @kevlonk To that, I can't say. I know that the ideas were out there, and that some of them were aware of Spinoza and his ideas on the subject. Also, these men were very much products of the age of elightenment, and that they questioned everything. Including the nature of man and God. To the point where Jefferson wrote his own version of the Bible. Leaving out the parts that he considered "Unreasonable". Interesting people, interesting time.

  • Liberty is the concept of ideological and political philosophy that identifies the condition to which an individual has the right to behave according to one's own personal responsibility and free will.

Last time i checked religion was all about the obedience to some old magical beings personally made rule book. Atheism in itself is taking personal responsibility in ones own actions. Not having a pre-written set of magical objective set of rules but taking responsibility for our own actions.

  • silly man, but hey, he's not hurting anyone so good for him.

  • HE'S RIGHT, KATRINA HAPPENED BECAUSE WE ALLOWED THE GAYS TO MARRY! THUMBS UP IF YOU THINK FAGS ARE GAY

  • Yeah because the whole ten commandment made it into the constitution. Also those other laws about stoning to death kids and not eating shellfish and killing two doves when a woman comes off her period. Yeah America is a mirror of the bible.....not

  • Dont you just love how republicans try and claim everybody of importance in history as sharing their view, in the attempt that those people credibility will rub off on them? I don't know if to call it arrogant or delusional. He'll, let's just call it both :)

  • America the freest nation on earth? Matter of opinion on that one. At least our leaders don't have to feign religious belief to hold office.

  • "Religious factions will go on imposing their will on others unless the decent people connected to them recognize that religion has no place in public policy. They must learn to make their views known without trying to make their views the only alternatives." Barry Goldwater

  • You forgot to mention that the US was the first country ever to create a secular constitution. The colonists didn't want a repeat of the stranglehold the church had on government in Europe.

Not to mention places like Saudi Arabia, it seems that more god=less freedom.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaveEZ2009 "freedom comes from the Constitution and nowhere else, not God or Darwin"

Nobody said "freedom comes from Darwin" and nobody anywhere believes that.

  • Yikes. You sound exceptionally indignant. Your claims are plentiful and embarrassingly hollow, flung about without much regard for their validity. Citations are scarce and humiliated when faced with the theocratic track record of Christianity. Not to mention your timelessly inaccurate representation of the founding fathers, coupled with the irony of their aspiration to break free of religious tyranny. The US's very premise is one of church and state separation, countering religious lunacy.

  • Brock, every secularist who voted you down believes that when God "dies" in America and the State takes over, THEY will be on the right side of the State--and will be able to silence and oppress "idiots" like you.

They are delusional fools who have not learned the lessons of history.

  • @Sweet92Sue In history, we know that "In God we trust" didn't belong on the currency. In history we know that giving the freedom of religion was the only fair option.

In logic, we know that calling others "fools" is not an argument in of itself.

I'm not sure what you're meaning here but seriously, the churches are not in charge and we should be glad.

I still stand up for freedom of speech and so do most atheists on Youtube. Take a look at Christian channels though, lots of censorship!

  • @sonic8005 And where in history, pray tell, have people been given MORE freedom of religion than in modern America? That most of our nation is at least culturally Christian does not mean you have to participate--you just BENEFIT from the freedom that stems from a nation based on natural law rather than political law. Consider yourself blessed....

  • @Sweet92Sue This is not a fully Christian nation. We've seen Christian nations and they always try to REMOVE freedom of religion.

Matter of fact, since the founding of this country Christians have done more persecuting here than anybody else. Some blessing!

What freedom do I get from Christians? Why, despite what the law says, in several states I'm not allowed to take office simply for being an Atheist.

  • @sonic8005 this isn't a Xian nation insofar as it wasn't found on Xian principles but it IS a Xian nation/theocracy insofar as our rulers are almost entirely Christians. I'm pretty sure though, that this nation has not killed as many as that of current or former dictatorships, but it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. not being allowed to take office isn't that big a deal, and I wish less, not more ppl would strive to do so.

  • @DaveEZ2009 That's unfair bias for one thing.

It's not quite a dictatorship but Christians have no problem with lying to assert that all dictatorships come from atheists.

It is still wrong to exclude somebody from public office simply for not believing in a god.

  • @sonic8005 let's be intellectually honest...there were dictators who were Atheists, there were dictators who were religious. The cure is to stop holding people accountable for their ancestry and start viewing people as individuals. seeking public office, and therefore, trying to force your values on others, is not going to help out any. I think someone like Hitchens who tries to make Atheism mainstream does far more good than an Atheist running for office.
