tarps purchased at home depot or kmart typically aren't the quality needed for skis and snowboards. plus, we recommend a carpet approach to the wedge ramp for the snowgel, then using heavy duty tarps for the landing.
no, it doesn't melt. but, overtime it will evaporate into small crystals that resemble pop rocks, which its fine to let dry out, since you simply add more mater to the cystals and it comes right back to life.
the snowgel is biodegradable, so it will eventually absorb into the ground. just don't leave it where someone could slip and fall.
check out the website and the BTP Kits, which is the best system to place the snowgel on and to keep it contained.
this looks cool, im looking into buying some, but i have a question. how many square feet does one of the 14.95 tubs cover? i need to know how many to get.
you can try an old carpet, but since there are so many varieties out there I can guarantee its performance.
even the old carpet you see in this video has been twice upgraded to the current carpet we use on our BTP Kits. but, if you are on a budget i understand.
another feature of our BTP Kits is the camo tarp, placed under the carpet, that keeps the SnowGel from getting lost in the grass, were it can't be used again. basically, the tarps keep your gel lasting much longer.
no, that is an old carpet version. BTP Kit A is shown in another youtube video of ours, titled "...making yellow snow" most likely displayed in the "related videos" section of this page.
I would recommend using a full 5 gallon container, even a bit more. grooming it will make it last longer and keep it on the carpet too.
yes, you can reuse the gel over and over again. you can contain it, cover it or even let it dry out into hard crystals, then simply add water for your next jib sesh.
yes, you use it in warm climates, we are based in Arizona.
And, it doesn't really melt... the water will eventually evaporate and it will dry up into crystals, that can be used again. its really cool!!!
hey guys this stuff works and love it, but i got a question, and its not dumb like will it hurt my skis lol, its where did u get that drill bit? thanks
you can even leave it and let it dry up, covered in the shade, then re-activate back to gel by simply adding water.
works good on a tarp, but it tends to slide around more... the best option is to have a piece of carpet on top of the tarp to better hold the gel. then the tarp will contain any get that goes off the carpet.
if i rode my board on that stuff whould my board get all covered with the blue coloring? does it wash off esily? do you have colorless (clear) SnowGel?
i am greatly impressed. i went through about 20 cans of WD40, and 5 cans of garage door lube on sheets of plywood all summer long. but i have some questions.
if i leave a decent layer of this stuff, how long will it stay for? does it melt back into water? can i put tarps around my setup, recollect the snowgel, and use it forever?
thanks... it lasts for a long time if you take care of it, covering it with a tarp is one of the best ways to preserve it. it actually dries into small crystals, that can be brought back to life simply by adding water. it works over and over again. check out the following site to see backyard terrain park kits designed specifically for SnowGel, with double overlapping tarps:
Thanks. Type in "SnowGel" in the search box above and look for a video posted by ARSpickert. He produced a backyard skiing video of himself using Global Warming Green SnowGel.
Some carpets perform better than others, but most outdoor carpets work well. You can visit the website to learn more about backyard ski & snowboard specific carpet/tarp systems, which greatly extends the use of SnowGel. You can also add water over and over again for the gel to come back to life. You may add another single-pak on occasion for fresh gel. Website:
I'm glad you like the SnowGel. We love it too! To find shipping cost to your country, simply choose your favorite SnowGel color, then follow the "check-out" process at:
Check out our new discounted prices, from $14.95 to as low as $9.95 each.
This just in... new $8.95 flat-rate shipping, to anywhere in the United States, even for a 12-pak. We ship around the world, too. New $37 flat-rate global shipping, even for a12-pak.
That depends on what size set up you have. Some users have a very steep approach, which requires much less Snowgel. But, I would say a 3-pak is the average order. The carpet is a standard indoor/outdoor carpet.
This seems very interesting that I'd probably try but how much area do you think one thing of the snowgel would cover? Could you possibly upload a video of a small set up using the snowgel to get an idea of how much will be needed
Thanks Jyer, we are working on your request, but you will most likely need a 3-pak to get things started. The single-pak is more of a sample size. Plus, we offer a volume discount for the larger pak sizes.
I will set up a demo w/ that stuff in a very popular spot in ohio if you send me 100 gallons. Cept im not good enough to impress w/ my skills, but people will be like, holy shizzy there is snow in the summer time.
Thanks, sort of... the SnowGel expands to 10x its original size. I noticed your ski video at the college... and, of course we don't expect you to purchase enough SnowGel to cover that large and wide of an area, without carpet. SnowGel is designed for backyard use on outdoor carpeting. It doesn't require as much SnowGel as you may think to cover a nice backyard set up.
would make it just because its blue.

imma make some now!!
Hamsterl0Ver1 2 years ago
so, even if you don't have much of a slope putting a little like, ramp (really small) before the turf the snowgel will give enough speed?
WWJEproductions 2 years ago
you would need a drop-in platform about 4-5 feet tall to get the necessary speed to hit a wedge ramp to a jib a rail, box or bench.
although, if you visit the website below there is a new bungee launch system that you can use on flat surfaces, without the need for a drop-in.

midwestboarder 3 years ago
you have to buy the snowgel "crystals" but aside from that yes. The best part is it is reusable so you can use the snow again by just rewatering it.

i have 2 questions tho
1. is that the BTP Carpet A?
2. and if it is how much gel should i put on it, should i dump the whole container or little at a time.
haha pretty lame questions, but that will b great practice and alot of fun

most any local hardware store will carry drill bits for stirring.
SnowGel101 3 years ago
how do u exactly get the snowgel back in the bucket once its on the carpet. Also does it work on a big tarp
shmoo1000 3 years ago
you can gather the gel with a plastic shovel.
you can even leave it and let it dry up, covered in the shade, then re-activate back to gel by simply adding water.
works good on a tarp, but it tends to slide around more... the best option is to have a piece of carpet on top of the tarp to better hold the gel. then the tarp will contain any get that goes off the carpet.
