If you want an ok lord of the rings game, you could try lotro. The graphics arent nearly as good as this, but they are passible, plus it has a ton of players

I love this game. Anyways there is a lord of the rings reference in this game. In a random battle on the field, you can get into a battle with two shades. Upon looting them, you receive a note that reads, "I knew we should have taken the fly eagles." Considering there is no such thing in this game, it is a clear reference to the flying eagles of LOTR. There are other references, but I don't want to make this super long.

I kind've like Cailin, mainly because he he isn't a Chantry fanatic, seems more tolerant to elves than most nobles are, and is willing to form an alliance with Orlais to save his people.

What I usually do is I know the main characters that will be with you so the one that will die off I take their weapons and armor so that I will have something to sell for money later on.

Good strategy if you've played if before or you just want money for random stuff.

Elves are shorter than humans in that game. The shortest are the dwarves and the tallest are the Qunaris, but you can't play one of those.

And yes, that part of the game is quite predictable. Anyway that King wasn't ruling anything, his wife did.

@MrHiglon You fight a lot. When you fight, there is a LOT of blood. The blood we still splattered over the character for quite a while. Also, there a lot of mutilated corpses when you go to an area where darkspawn are/were present. I dont know for shure, but i think you can turn down the blood in the options.

It's not the fact that the king dies that's a surprise, but 'how'. Still, it didn't feel like a 'last stand' camp to me. It just felt like an undermanned first line of defense. Given the nature of the game, and the length I was told it would be, part of me wondered if I'd be a part of the army, or going behind enemy lines. The Ash Warriors I found in the camp even made me assume it was going to be hunting stragglers. All in all, a fine camp with fine troops..may they rest in peace.

I like ur idea of "role-playing " the character. In fact elfs are more into magic due to inborn stats. I made bowman female human noble and low class dwarven defender both were very fun to play

Will VERY rarely happen. Toegoff is a unique character. When you think elf you think bow, or two swords, or nimble fighters at least.  You rarely think giant 2 hand weapon. I don't care about making the 'best' character, I want something fun and unique.

As far as I'm aware, no. Loot appears to be random and you can only kill what appears to be hostile targets.

Only if it's a boss character. With regular mooks you just get Recovery Items, Components and general crap. Any armor/weapons they might drop tend to be stuff you're gonna sell since presumably you're not gonna give Alistair shitty leather boots or stuff.
