I believe it was not a big bang for our universe; ours is the result of a "Big Divide" of one Universe into two, and I believe the sudden acceleration is the result of our universe starting the process of Division again. :]
I see so many correlations between the universe and cytology/biology, I look at the universe as one big "Cosmic-Cell" and everything within this Cosmic-Cell(stars, black holes, matter, dark matter) are just "Cosmic-Organelles" responsible for the cosmic-cell's functions. When I look at the baby picture of the universe I see cell division(Anaphase). We are the stuff of stars, the stars are the stuff of the universe; maybe the universe's nature/anatomy is not so different from our own? :]
Only a handful of people in the world understand this topic since it requires a grasp of at least undergraduate physics / math to acquire even the basics.
This obviously disqualifies everyone else from discussing the matter meaningfully, but as we see here, it doesn't stop them doing just that.
According to brane theory two branes touched or bumped into each other at a point and this was the singularity of the big bang.
However if we think of these two branes continuing to contact at an increasingly larger radius moving at a rate greater than the speed of light would this not explain how inflation occurred?
What if these branes are like soap bubbles and our universe is the contact surface of these two bubbles?
how are all theories lies? If these "mathmatical" theories are incorrect; GPS would not work, the internet, your mobile phone should not work. they are based upon these theories (not so much the big bang itself, but the big bang theory came forward out of these mathmatical theories)
right, so good luck on that! You won't mind show me the mathematical proof then? you do realize that other species and other universes did came from this big bang or other big bangs? You do realize that evolution is not only here on earth?
@Jipzorowns did you think about the impossibility of so many changes in so many species? juste impossible. i dont believe in evolution at all, i believe that God created the earth and all the species.
it's possible, with all the random dna mutations, that created many different species over billions of years. You can actually see, how different species have grown. Compare one animal to another animal you will see how look-a-like they are. You should study evolution, instead of having no valid arguments. Or you should show me the mathematical proof then? No you won't, because you don't have it. You ignorant prick. "We" thinkers, who think. Come way futher than you people.
Instead of looking in a book and take everything for granted. Start exploring, damn. The earth is older than the bible says. And look back in the past, they first thought god created the earth and that the rest was rotating around the earth. Now we know that is not the case. Big thinkers have searched for answers. And also found evidence evolution. There more evidence for dna mutation, than a god on a cloud, with a laptop, keeping scores.
@Jipzorowns there's no evidence that the Bible is older than 10000 years. a lot of videos that you can find here about how old is the earth, see the videos of bereanbeacon.
no, YOU are the dumb one here. I am exploring the possible options. I truly want to know. No magic man in the sky. Because there is no true evidence for it. I have nothing against religious people. But c'mon dude. Explore your options, try and search for how it truly is, and not how it should be. I mean, I want there to be a god, but you cannot prove it! I believe the evidence that is given, about the existence of the universe, if "god" is proven, then I shall believe ;)
@Jipzorowns The Big Bang Theory was invented by Georges Lemaitre a Roman Catholic priest & physicist. It's nothing more than creationist physics [1 biblical day in some beliefs is millions of years], ironically evolutionist & atheists use the theory yet don't realize simply believing in a big bang is giving into creationism in technical jargon. Einstein believed in a "static universe" & had nothing to do with the big bang, which is a Roman Catholic invention.
@Jipzorowns The only reason the big bang caught on was it harmonized with many peoples inner feelings of science & religion & unified the 2 belief systems. There's always been a high population of people from religious backgrounds or families that enter physics. Big bang being of [a priest's] theoretical physics explanation doesn't go against religious spiritual beliefs & practices. It gives em a footing in the modern world. Most big bangists don't realize they're under Christian influence :)
The Bible says the earth is around 6000 years old! Now how does your theories hold up to this fact? Only self righteous people leave Jesus and God the Creators of life out of the picture! Nincompoops!
Humble your selves in the hand of God and He will lift you up! It's not you trying to put two and two together in your own wisdom that figures it out, but Jesus sharing with you as a friend! How would you even begin to know what happened billions of years ago. It's too mind boggling!
Carl Sagan and Satan are similar or one in the same because each are deceivers plain & simple. The only one you can truly trust in is Jesus' explanation of creation and the stars.
Just read Genesis one & beware! Sagan hated Jesus & so does Satan! The Devil hates the relationship between men & women & children in their relationship with God & Jesus. Satan is jealous of this relationship made in Love.
It's a spiritual issue. Stay away from Drugs & Carl Sagan or you will trip out for good!
ledzeppelin2131 - the inflation theory is so promising precisely because it predicts creation of the universe out of virtually nothing, listen a bit more carefully. Secondly - my little cat at home usually hides away when he hears a thunder. For him it poses imminent danger as he is for himself the centre of everything. Let me be civilised and say only this - if you seriously think that the whole universe in its all grandeur was invented just for you to feel important - well it is so childish
If the universe is expanding at the speed of light, explain why the stars are in the same positions as they were thousands of years age. The constellations are the same, why?
@stopdemockery Hi, I want to clarify this to you as why the constellations are the same. It is the galaxies in the universe that are rushing away from each other, not the star systems in the Milky way, therefore in the near further, the only stars that will be viewable is Milky way star star systems.
We will be all alone in the near further and in respect to movement, our lives are very short, so it's not possible for one generation of humans to make dicernible comparisons.
I have a question. An often quoted analogy to describe the expansion of the universe is that of an expanding balloon, with points on the balloon representing galaxies. As the balloon expands, the points recede from each other, but doesn't the 'unit' of distance also expand with the balloon, so that the 'distance' between points remain the same? Can anyone care to enlighten me?
NO. The space between them is expanding, so the distances are as well. The balloon analogy is apt, because the points are still occupying exactly the same space on the balloon, but the space between them is growing.
To sum it up, inflation describes how the universe got so large (infinitely large) in 13.7 billion years time and more specifically during the first second or so of the universe's existence to begin with.. During the first second of the big bang, the current laws of physics hadn't been "born" yet and so it was theoretically possible for the universe to expand faster than the speed of light for a very brief instant, because at that time there was no universal "speed limit".
The expansion faster than light actually does not contradict to the theory of relativity. What expands there is space itself. In relativity it is stated that /group velocity/ must not exceed the speed of light. But this is not required for the phase velocity. Talking about the expansion of space refers to the phase velocity, I guess.
no, inflation theory is just an explanation of how the universe could have grown to such an immense size in a small amount of time while keeping its density the same.
WHY the universe is expanding is another topic, and that topic is called dark energy (the energy of the vacuum)
I am confused, if the universe is only 13.7 billion years old then why did HST UDF image old galaxies 13, billion light years away? If the light is just now reaching us shouldn't we be seeing dust and stuff, predicted early universe, not old galaxies, OG, clustered together closely? Then wouldn't the whole universe be much older than that & the Milky Way is just much younger than those galaxies? How can the light now be reaching us & show OG? Why are those OG moving away at nearly the SOL?
Inflation I believe is not the best theory for the expansion of the universe, because the obeservational evidence is poor, I believe in the VSL or varying speed of light theory that explains the expansion of the universe but is subsequently different from the inflation theory, look it up it makes more sense in my opinion.
Alan Guth makes inflationary theory easy to understand, but there are a few things I don't really understand that this video doesn't mention. Can anyone help me understand what scalar fields have to do with inflation?
It's okay if you don't understand Guth. He was actually wrong about Inflation. If you want to message privately, I can explain the scalar fields and their correlation to Inflation if you like.
These dates have no foundation. Was there hydrogen at the big bang or was there the heaviest elements ? FACT: something does not come from nothing and life does not come from non-life. The universe accelerates, if so, then because F=ma we can ask this rational question; What is the force accelerating the matter ?
energy is yet to confirm as dark energy, the energy 'soup' of universe. In the realm of 'false vacuum', before symmetry breaking, F=ma does not apply as yet. Forces are more gravitational ie spacetime warps and quantum fluctuations
repulsive gravity, according to the general theory of relativity (as far as i know it), makes matter "produce" space, meaning that this repulsion is caused presicely because space is curving away from matter.
Why do we use the term "Dark energy" as a parameter to describe the expansion? if the distribution of Dark energy is homogeneous, why isn't the expansion described as an inherent character of distances.
