  • In Italy some of the jazz club /restaurants have solved this..no food is served while the band is playing first two hours or something

  • Interesting comment about being sad to see great musicians playing for a crowd like that (first comment on this page). The problem I see is that playing in a restaurant is an recipe for disaster unless the band faces the fact that they are simply background music. This is a full band, not a piano player playing nice and easy stuff. If the band or the restaurant expects the audience to be attentive, then a more intimate (separate room) concert-like setting needs to be created.

  • I first saw and heard Harry Allen many years ago in Hellertown, PA when he was in his mid to late 20's. I belonged to a jazz club called the Fugowees and we had a rule that was strictly enforced ... NO TALKING while the artist or group was performing.
