i've got an anvil that is like 5 times snaller and i can barely lift it

put it next to the anvil stump and lifting it with a side of the block of 3 inches and raises it to the other side and do the same to the anvil at the height of the strip and slide it on the stump.

It's well known that the bigger one is more statistic, has bigger surface. Last Sunday I've bought 80 kilos anvil. I think that for the beginner is just perfect.

An anvil is an anvil.. I don't see why you wouldn't.

It really is better to use a larger anvil...It's logic. Say someone made you walk a tightrope and if you lived you got paid for it. Would you rather have a big rope or a small? I am a smith and my anvil is way too friggin' small. Trust me and smidjepeter who is a master far beyond my skill on this one! We all may not need, but we definately want anvils that big!
