  • The whips do not hurt, they are air filled. So then you wouldn't mind if I went about your head and face with one?

  • 1:33 omg that horse just fell off after the rider fell off

  • bloody hell how hard do u need to whip a horse she obviously doesnt understand what whips r foR whips are only supposed to be used when the horse doesnt react when u kick SHE DIDNT EVEN KICK

  • wips do hurt

  • bull shit whips do hurt if you dnt think so go get a whip and get some one to whip you hard out and see if it hurts

  • I remember watching this on TV, gosh it was heart in mouth at some points! The whip may not hurt but there was no reason for such a violent display, especially not on national television no horse deserves that no wonder it doesn't want to jump for her!

  • @xXeMokiDXxMCRXx ur right its not nice to whip horses that hard it was not nice at all :/

  • @MegaGagamad Nopes, a short BAD BOY or girl would of sufficed and they'd of carried on happily, we wouldn't do it to people who made a mistake so why horses! It makes them not enjoy jumping and get scared so they make more mistakes, and on TV aswell so kids will think it is ok to punish horses violently!

  • ohhh, i just love the last one!

  • I almost cried when the horse fell of the ledge thing ):

  • @Enarodowy horse only broke a few ribs i think... poor thing!

  • Actually one horse was quite seriously injured in this...the horse that falls off the outlander bank (because it got a fright of its riders point 2 air jacket going off) 1.29 broke its ribs and spent a few months on box rest, until it could fly back to America.

  • I think you are emensly brave and have immense courage!

  • the one at 1:56 scared me when i watched it D:

  • I remember watching the first fall

  • but yes the air cushed whips are not nearly as bad! they still hurt though! not like a crop does. Again: not against it, just saying that they are not painfree!

  • Okay I ride, love riding, use crops often, but "the whips dont hurt?" okay thats misleading. Have you ever accidentally whipped yourself with one of those suckers? I did! I missed my horse and whacked myself in the butt and it was PAINFULL. Worse than if I woulda got whacked with a wooden spoon. I had a welt and a bruise for over a week. I am not against using whips/crops in any which way or form, but saying they dont hurt is very inaccurate. Find out first hand.

  • @mooneypadfootprongs Just because it hurts you doesn't mean horses feel it the same way. Horses kick and bite each other all the time when they play. There's no way us using a crop could be anything near a kick from a horse.

  • omg where those horses ok aspesherly the one that fell off the platform? :(

  • @crazypizzahorse234 Mandiba broke several ribs but has recovered slowly x

  • @1:19 smell the roses! :D

  • my trainer hit the deck @ 2:07 :(

  • this is my opinion but i am very apalled at this they look very spoilt yes the whip might not hurt but she doesnt need to do it 3 times it wasnt the horses fault it was hers...now for all those people "oh shut up whips dont hurt" no you shut up i would not whip my horse for refusing a jump i would just kick and then kick again when we approuch the jump i only use my whip if i HAVE too no bad comments please.

  • God... some if these 'expert' riders need to learn how to ride\:xx

  • @ilovemypony7 Personally, I'd like to see you compete at this level of competition. You obviously have no idea how physically and mentally challenging eventing is, especially at CCI 4* level at Badminton Horse Trials. These riders competing are top expert riders who have undergone years of training and competition and are some of the best riders the equine industry has. You are obviously too ignorant to realise that all expert riders and horses have their days and fall off.

  • @ilovemypony7

    Hahaha your funny.

I'd love to see you sit on a 4* horse and 'pop' it over Burghley, the hardest XC course in the world

  • 1:22 "Just gonna take a nom on the flowers while i have the oppurtunity " Wow, I hope none of the rider or horses had any serious injuries.

  • whipping horses (with air cushioned whips) isn't bad, or they would have banned it, but really she should either have tapped him/her when they were still facing the jump or on the next approach to the jump... not taught a lot to the horse by doing that.

    owwwww falls look soooree!

  • Guys, you have to remember that if the organizers of Badminton didn't want anyone to whip their horses to encourage them on then they would ban the whips. It doesn't hurt a horse because they're specifically designed not too. If Emily Baldwin's horse was uneasy about jumping, encouraging them with the whip and your heels isn't bad. I can guarantee you guys must have used a whip at sometime (You may not have) but it tells the horse that their rider wants to jump it. Just Saying:)

  • The bitch who waked the poor pony!

  • I went to watch the badminton horse trials but i misses all the falls!

  • what the heck is an air cushioned whip?

  • h8 the bitch at 0:51. it was her fault not setting the horse up and whipping it because it was her fault was not on either!!

  • the rider who whipped their horse when it was still is a complete douchebag.

  • 1:22

    Horse: ooh yummy flowers!

  • @horsecrazy098 Oops didnt realise ud said that already, sorry i took ur line . =/

  • Comment removed

  • Wowww, a lot of these riders display bad equestrianism, like whipping the horse like that because it refused, do not think that was necessary. And the man just after that, even though I know it's not possible, it looks like he pushed his horse off the verge, and didn't seem to care if it was ok or not :/

  • @TheSofieLee what happened was the air jacket went off and it got spooked and tried to get away and when she held onto the riens and tried to dtop him he ran even more that horse did get baddly injured even though he ran away he broke some of his ribs it was just a natrual instict to run away.

  • @TheSofieLee the horse got injured but her air jacket went off so the horse wasscared and tried to get away and then she tried to stop it going back but then the horse pulled away from her and she couldn't do anything about and she did get it in the end

  • @IonaCoshx3 not really.

  • Yeah this is why I'm not a fan of cross country..

  • @blueyescry why because people fall? well ive fallen off doing flatwork so...

  • @equine247 lol I've fallen off during flatwork as well. Its more that xc seems to have the worst falls. But thats just my opinion.

  • @blueyescry i guess but i still love it! and once you do it you will!

  • 1:18 I WANTS TO SMELL ZE FLOWERZ.

  • Getting hit with a dodge ball can hurt and they too are desinged not to be too painful! Having an air cushioned whip is no excuse to bash your horse for a mistake you BOTH made!

  • 2.04 is such a shame haha!! but at least it was into water so was a relatively soft landing haha :) xxx

  • That Emily women didnt ride her horse at all to the fence! and then once it had forgotten it had even done it she wacked it with her whip! Like the poor animal actually knew why it was getting a beating! All the money and no idea about horses! Most of them shoundlt be aloud to ride! idiots!

  • @alicehoneyxoxonot true the horse suffered 6 broke ribs but he okay now

  • really riders have started depending on their whip instead of using their legs in a lot of jumping disciplines especially cross country what happened to riding the slowest pony on the yard and having to squeeze and kick him halfway round the arena before he would canter...

  • Comment removed

  • @sherra1 and i know the queen.............

  • awww i saw all of these on TV except the one at 1:28 that was terrible Poor horses they was all ok @alicehoneyxoxo they was just abit sore soo all good xD

  • 1:31 does anyone know if this horse was okay?! :'(

  • @alicehoneyxoxo I think the horse broke a rib or 2 but came out fine in the ending. He spooked at her vest inflated and backed away... The rider is Karen O'Connor.

  • My post was just my opinion, I did not intend for a reply.

  • 1:07 idiot

  • there is no such thing as a air cushoined whip and whips do hurt horses

  • Do you hit people when they knock over a hurdle or something? NO! Why should we hit horses and air cusioned whips sound as usefull as a chocolate teapot. Horses can still feel the whip. Also I wouldn't of held onto my horse if I knew there was a drop right behind it. From my experiance I know that horses are going to back away if you cling onto them so why do it?? If I ever go into eventing I am going to remind myself of these points.

  • Hm. Will someone please explain to me the point of an air cushioned whip, and the point of hitting your horse after its refused? As far as i know, no animals think like that.. You can scold a dog if you catch it pooping on your carpet, but afterwards they wont know what they did.. Or am I wrong?

  • I cant belive that rider just let her horse fall off the bank :(

  • @HorseMadIssie how does one stop a 1000+ pound animal when they are falling backwards? pull on the reins? I think videos like this show swhat separates the good riders from the great.

  • @GoGadgetHookerClean I was just saying, if my pony was slipping of a bank, I would try and help, not just let him fall. As I love my horse, and I would at least TRY and help even if it did not help.

  • @HorseMadIssie She was holding the reins, trying to keep the horse from backing up. There's literally nothing you can do about that. It sucks, but would you really want to be pulling on a horses head while they were falling backwards?

  • @HorseMadIssie itwasnt her falt her horse got spooked at the air jacket any horse would run from that so dont diss her she tried to pull it so it wouldnt fall and diss the course desighner cus i know him

  • @shearra1 1. I was not dissing the course designer, when did I ever say anything about the course, its a good jump, and one to test the trust between horse and rider.

    2. My horse wouldn't run away from that, so not every horse would spook from it

    3. And I never said anything bad about her, I just said what I wouldn't do, so don't diss me.

    4. How does such a video sort the good from the great riders? Surley, those who dislike it, love their horse, and wish nothing of such to happen to it.

  • @shearra1 Oooops, sorry bout number 4, wrong person!

  • HAHAHAHA horse at 1:22..."OMG PETUNIAS!!!! NOMMM!"

  • The horse who fell off the bank broke 6 ribs.

  • @ASimpleSomething Ouch, not a fun thing to break.

  • Emily is a peice of work!! She should be locked up!! 2:05 the ride jumped off!!!!

  • @horseloverforlife12 no , 3 whips is the rule! she no's her horse! And it was a naughty ting it did, she might of lost her temper abit but she shouldnt be locked up

  • @Missponymad111 she should not be locked up, 3 whips is the limit, and it's what she did sorry!!

  • Emily is a peice of work!! She should be locked up!!

  • Ooohh horse at 1:58 does NOT look okay after.

  • @Meredith1301 he was fine(: i think he might have had a broken rib but it could have been bruised(: looked worse that it was i think aha

  • @VintageStar385 LOL It landed on its neck. With the strange movement of hindquarters after Id say sprained neck, and some vertebrae out of alignment. Possible soft tissue damage. Neurological is also a possibility. Could also just be a bit woozy....but maybe not. Ive worked as a vet assistant and EMT/ECT for almost every horse sport you can imagine. LOL Seen that movement many times, not normally a good thing.

  • @Meredith1301 well the vet said the horse was fine, it got thouroghly checked after ... and are you blind? it landed on its side aha(: it didnt run away limping or anything. the only damage was to its ribs on the left side of its body... you wernt there. dont tell me what you "think" is true.

  • @VintageStar385 The grey horse at ONE MINUTE AND 58 SECONDS!? The grey horse?? Well since I figured you might be right I googled it. Read up. "Put down a few months after a fall at Badminton, DUE TO NUEROLOGICAL PROBLEMS" He certainly wasn't fine. Damn cant post link here....google "Ashdale cruise master...first entry that comes up.

  • @Meredith1301 oh crap aha :L sorry i thought you where talking about the bay horse that fell off the side of the step up.. thats why i said it has broken ribs.. sorry.. i know you said the number and shiz i read it wrong. my bad. sorry again!!

  • @VintageStar385 Hahaa no problem I figured U meant a different one when you said ribs;) Too bad grey horse didn't make it :(

  • @Meredith1301 i know :/ tbh you wouldnt think "omg that horse might die" when you see it collapse :/ i didnt. i never knew.. i thought it was gonna be finee... poor horse :(

  • 1:30 looks very painful :(

  • @nikkicola1211 that horse decided to gtfo

  • I thought the whipping was a bit extreme and uncalled for. But that's my opinion, and this is not my horse.

  • What idiot builds a cross country fence with a string loop inviting a horses leg into it ....( first jump) least the rider was okay

  • 2:05 was a spectacular fall, sould have been a stunt!

  • ok guys, heres the deal, i rewatched the vid of Emily Baldwin over and over, she wacked her horse who stopped and was naughty. if you dont notice, she hits the top of the haunches, which is not sensitive AT all, and the horse barely even flinches. she did was she was taught to do and it didnt hurt the horse. this is also in the way past and we dont need to make a big deal out of it. When my horses refuse, I wack em once but its not really up to the youtubers.....so yeah theres my argument :)

  • 1:30 saw that coming. poor horse :(

  • All in all, the horse's one job is to gallop around and jump the jumps. That is how he earns his keep. But when he does not jump the jump, he needs to be reminded that it is not OK. Hitting him 3 times was a bit too much, but as you can see, he didn't even pin his ears or scoot forward when she did. So obviously there wasn't too much of a reaction on the horse's part.

  • @iHeartHickstead Wow. And you think the horse knows that he's competing at Badminton here? Or that there is prize money involved? The horses are SAINTS to go around these jumps. Hitting him was bad enough, you can clearly see he was on a bogey stride, but hitting him when it wasn't even directly after the refusal is even worse, as he doesn't even know what he's being hit for!

  • @DieselEquestrian I can understand what you mean, but I'm just sayin that it most likely wouldn't be very good horse training if she let him get away with refusing. She probably shouldn't have hit him three times, but I'm sure she knows what she's doing.

  • Emily shouldnt have whipped her horse. The horse tried to jump the fence but didnt have the stride right or the bounce to get over it. It wasnt a flat refusal. There's no need to take out your anger over poor planning on the horse who tried for you!!

  • "The whips don't hurt, they are air cushioned" That is the first time I have ever heard of an air cushioned whip. Where do you find these?

  • @jmdnarri The TV commentainer

  • @CheckerdSailor ummm... your reply makes no sense

  • omg! they used the whip so hard!!!!!!!!!!!! wat is their problem! horses should be taught through gentle manor, not being whipped if they make a mistake, even if it is air cushioned or watever, it may not leave a physical scar, but it will leave a mental scar!!!!!!!!!!!!! ppl may think that it encourages a horse, but u try slapping urself with a crop/whip and c how it feels, even if it's just a mistake

  • how do the air whips work ?

  • When the horse fell down at 1:29 I held my breath. Shit! Poor horse!

  • Holy crap if i was there watching emily baldwin whip the horse like that I would have lost it. If I were her instructor, friend, or parent i would have been immensely disappointed in her, how immature. She ought to be banned for a stunt like that, i wouldn't expect that even out of an amateur rider

  • I hate cross-county... my mare always stops in front of the obstacle for a nibble :(

  • First off, you are all ridiculous! You whip a horse when they refuse to punish them for being bad! She wasn't 'beating her horse', grow up! And secondly, why, why, WHY would you have a song like that on this video?!?!?!

  • @TheMagoo12 You should never, NEVER punish your horse if it refuse to jump. A horse always has good reasons for not jumping. If you hit it, the horse will only connect the pain/the whip with obstacles and may be scared of jumping again. You will never be a good rider if you punish your horse for things like this. It's things like kids do.

  • @IzzaFrizza, how DARE you say that i will never be a good rider for punishing my horse! Do you even ride?! And if you do, what do you do when your horse refuses the jump? Praise it, tell him its a good boy, that everythings ok and that ;try again next time, maybe your having a bad day?' You will get NOWHERE doing that! The horses don't assoictiate the whip with jumping because they DIDN'T JUMP! They don't always have any excuse, and if they learn that refusing is a bad thing because of the whip

  • @TheMagoo12 I don't praise him, but I don't hit him. I only turn to the obstacle again and makes him more aware of what's going to happen. I won't give him a chance to stop. Then he will jump. Instead of hitting your horse to jump, you should encourage it. Try it next time instead of whipping it.

  • @IzzaFrizza then it's a GOOD thing, then they'll jump next time beacuse they don't want to be punished! Yes, there is a difference between punishing for learning purposes, and beating them for no reason, and the rider in this video was NOT beating her horse. Any GOOD coach will tell you to dicipline your horse if they are bad, and allmost ALL top riders will punish their horse if they refuse, UNLESS the horse has an issue with whips. Ok yes, its not fair to the horse to punish it if it was RIDER

  • @IzzaFrizza error, but horses don't always have a good reason for refusing. And just saying, i can guarantee that i am and will be a better rider than you

  • @TheMagoo12 If a horse refuse to jump, the rider must have done something wrong. Do you whip your horse if it's afraid? Do you whip your horse if it's insecure? Would you like someone to whip you if you were a bit scared? I don't think so. Btw, you haven't seen me ride som you can't tell by what I'm writing if you're a better rider than me.

  • @IzzaFrizza Its not always the riders fault. And theres a difference between 'whipping' the horse, and giving it a smack to dicipline it. There are reasons why to and why not to give your horse a smack. For instance this summer i had a young inexperienced horse, and the majority of the time if he stopped, i would circle around and try again, but if it was a small jump or something he's jumped before, then he doesn't have an excuse, and i would give him a smack. I wouldn't 'whip him or beat him

  • @IzzaFrizza plus, horses have a higher pain tolerance than humans, horses groom each other with their teeth, and it feels good, if a horse was to do that to us, we would be cut and black and blue all over! Everyone has different opinions on how to properly ride a horse, and i see it as it really depends on the situation. I don't go around wailing on horses for no reason. I always have a reason for what i do, and i do it right. You are in no place to judge, or tell people whats right or wrong

  • @TheMagoo12 I'm aware of the horses pain tolerance. But sooner or later you will break it down mentally. A horse is sensetive that way. I don't say that you are a bad horseowner, I'm sure you love your horse and never would like to hurt it. But in my world, hitting a horse with the crop isn't an option. If a horse is being bad, I use my body, not things like whips or sticks. That's my method. I think that the woman made a mistake, and I won't change my mind...

  • @IzzaFrizza well i may not be able to change your mind, but i can at least tell you that crops are more often used to help rather than hinder. Look it up, almost any and all websites will tell you that whips/crops are used in the training process, and used to help encourage the horse and teach it. Not scar it.

  • @TheMagoo12 I haven't said crops are bad - I said you shouldn't use the crop as punishment if the horse refuses. I often ride with crop because I often ride "slow" horses. But I only wave with it so they know I have it i my hand. That will often do, it not - I poke them with it. I only use the crop to get the horse move forward, never to punish it. The horses shouln't be afraid of the crop, but sadly, there are horses that are really afraid of them, proably because someone punished them with it.

  • @TheMagoo12 finally someone with sense!!! and im VERY interested in why the poster ONLY showed the names on Ingrid Emily and Oliver?!?!! a certain reason? or just 'coincidence' hmm?!

  • Air cushioned whips are used on racehorses too, And they can leave welts! You can't tell me it doesn't hurt them! So she's annoyed they refused so she beats the horse, that's rediculous!

  • @MaggieBII . No, that is NOT an "OK" reason to hit a horse for not wanting to jump a fence! As a rider we should be know that horses cost loads of money and it takes time to have horses. I'm not one of those who screams "animal abuse" at any time and no Idon't think this rider is an animal abuser either. But you should NEVER ever loose your temper, whipping the horse because your pissed!. She should've did that before the jump not after!

  • RIP Ashdale Cruise Master :(

  • just letting you know, the whips do hurt. even if they didn't you shouldn't wind up and beat the horse 3-4 times.

  • @equistera the rules state that you can hit the horse THREE times with out drawing blood or bursting the skin. She was within the rules and I believe the Emily knows her horse better than anyone on here??

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 yea but still.....

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 Sorry but what does "knowing your horse" have anything to do with taking a crop to it?

  • @DieselEquestrian The rider has to choose the right punishment for THEIR horse. if emily felt that was what was needed she was within her rights. imo, it was a little extream but we all have diffrent ways of dealing with things. dont get me wrong, i wouldnt dream of doing that unless it was a this horse is going to kill me situation. but Emily has trainers and i dont believe YOU are her trainer? and i dont believe she got a warning for smacking him 3times. emily knows her horse you dont.

  • @DieselEquestrian and it was a VERY naughty stop. if my horse had done that i would have given it 1 veyr hard smack. but that is what my horse needs. your horse might not. every horse is diffrent and we all get taught diffrent ways. each to their own.

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 No one should ever beat their horse like that.

  • @Cottontail6969 She didn't beat her horse. she smacked it three times. it was within the rules. if you think thats beating a horse you need to take a step into the real world.

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 Hitting a horse once is considered beating. Especially that hard!

  • @Cottontail6969 pahaa. your a funny one. we all have our own little rules and ways. I dont see hitting a horse as beating. If you do it for a reason no, its not beating. do it for no reason=beating.

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 Sure, but when would an animal ever give you a reason to hit them? Hitting an animal just makes them angry, or afraid of you.

  • @MsCheekyEventer1996 you still shouldn't use a whip as punishment i believe in using it for encouragement but NEVER punishment. i've found it does nothing but make the horse distrust you.

  • @MaggieBII You're an idiot. If you ride horses, I feel sorry for them.

  • the whips dont hurt as air cushioned well i have bin hit with one and it def didnt tickle stupid idiot

  • Air cushend my ass. If i ever meet her ima air cushend her face -.-

  • 1:31 was the horse ok?!?

  • hope the hose that fell down the step was ok !

  • oh myy that poor horse at 1:30 that fell off the step:/ hope s/he was okay xxx

  • 1:35 ... WHY did she just STAND there?!?!

  • lol at 1:25 it looks like the horse is smelling the flowers :D

  • Comment removed

  • At 1:30, it was the riders fault that the horse fell down the drop. If she let go the horse would of turned around but no it fell over.

  • Ahh! Om 0.05!

En die ene die van dat ding afvalt..

En die wel een BEETJE grappig was was die gene met die bloemen!

  • 1:30 - 1:36 Awkward moment.

  • Comment removed

  • Was the horse OK at 1:24 - 1:33? ;o

  • the first horses hoove got stuck:( and actuallya hard slap for us is a small tap for tem and u use it when u need it cause 1 time i used 1 cause this horse tryd to run me in to a busy street and it tryd to run me to the barn

  • the first horses hoove got stuck:(

  • All the horses are afraid of theire riders cause if the do anything wrong, they get slapped, and very hard and much!! I think it's abuse, really. How can anyone say that he loves hir horse but he slapped hem that much!

  • Emily Baldwin was silly, even if "the whips don't hurt" she lost her temper, which is immature and stupid, and will not help her or the horse progress.

  • @TheFearlessRach Ikr, if you lose your temper that easily, you shouldn't really be riding, it's not like the horse purposely tries to fail you.

  • Ughh, that Emily Baldwin is such a loser for smacking her horse around. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Use a crop as an aid BEFORE an obstacle, not after your horse has done something 'wrong' or to 'show them' after they've refused.

  • Nunca me dejara de sorprender lo rapido q se levantan los caballos de las caidas

  • number 97 what a bitch she didnt even care that her horse fell !!!!

  • a horse can feel a single fly sitting anywhere on its body and you are trying to tell us, whips dont hurt them?!

  • 1.19 NOM NOM FLOWERS

  • the 1 at 1:30 looked really bad for the horse !! :'(

  • @EllisE373 ikr!

  • Can I please use some clips and I will give you FULL credit?

  • Im sorry but a whip is a whip, air cusioned or not

  • horse at 1:22 stop to sniff the flowers :P

  • ok well to all the people comminthng about the rider wiper her horse yes she probley should of wippeda horse like that but people treat there horses alot badder than this so i think u should leave this person alone and go worry about some other the other more seris horse abusers

  • im sorry but the one in 2:05 is hilarious

  • so what if its air cushoned?? its still horrible and you should never whip a horse like that, if they are scared of the water then they are not ready to be doing a x country course like that

  • 1:08 poor horse

  • oh god the very firstfall made me scared to watch the rest ! 8o

  • it shouldn't be funny, but 1:22, just smelling some flowers XD
