I just realized the Asian boy in this movie is played by Brian Tochi. Besides this franchise, he's also well-known for voicing Leonardo in the three live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. Loved this movie when I was kid. Nothing beats those silly 80's teen flicks!

What I love about this movie was its message, it wasn't just about nerds the message was broader than that the the central theme of the nerds was just a metaphore for something bigger. it was about the empowerment of all the underdogs out there...minorities, introverted, shy, gay, pimple face, whatever.
