Just saw "the last farm" then this short movie. Rúnar Rúnarsson is really great, I hope he does many more short / long movies. On another note, found out that he only had like 5 likes on his facebook thingy, show him some love !
don't forget this though.... they didn't have to rape her... nobody had to, that's no excuse, you're right, she shouldn't have gotten drunk, idk why anyone would, but that doesn't give anyone the right to do what they did.
@DrownedBeliefs She was nieve, she didn't know what was going to happen or that she would get taken advantage of... your telling me those guys just happned to what? slip and fall onto her naked? you are scum, I hope you get in a car crash and the car catches on fire and you just escape with 99% burns and have to live the rest of your life horribly in pain.
I refuse to accept that anyone does not understand the consequences of mixing drugs with alcohol at a party with many older and unfamiliar men. What I am telling you is that the 'victim', on some level, has to be held responsible for the choices they make. Is a homeowner not at least SOMEWHAT responsible for being burgled if he leaves his front door open? Are bank staff not SOMEWHAT responsible for being robbed if they keep the vault unlocked?
@DrownedBeliefs The fact is it shouldn't happen... Rape shouldn't happen. And it's the morals of men like yourself that permit it to go un-punished as it is; set example Ellen Sussman's rapists were given a 15year sentence... got out in 2... where is the deterrence?
I have at no point condoned rape, I have merely pointed out that the world does not work on good fucking intentions and rainbow dust like you seem to want it to. There is absolutely no doubt at all that rape wouldn't happen nearly as much if people weren't as stupid as the girl in this video.
Also, why do you level that argument as though I've even BEGAN to talk about the justifice system and punishment? I'll have you know my standards on it are probably a lot tougher than yours.
@DrownedBeliefs@DrownedBeliefs But you've made it obvious that the rapists arn't fully to blaime... like she was asking for it? That's the same as agreeing with it. People should be able to be as retarded as they want to, do stupid things without someone taking advantage that's why the worlds in such a poor state. That's why 49 states in America now have conceled carry lisences compired to only three 20 years ago.
Responsibility ≠ Blame. Responsibility would say that you have helped to contribute to the matter in some way, no matter how small - which she clearly has by going. Blame recognizes, however, that some action of yours has DIRECTLY CAUSED a problem.
You're going back to this 'good intentions' thing; how things SHOULD work. Regardless of what either one of us thinks SHOULD be the case, it ISN'T the case. To pretend otherwise is foolhardy and, as demonstrated, will have consequences.
@Moonrockbang Kids go to party, Kids drink alot, Girl passes out in bed, Boy leaves her as he can't wake her when he goes back some men are shagging her passed out body, Boy sleeps in front room, Boy wakes up in morning and gets into bed with Girl, Girl wakes up, can't remeber last night so asks him 'was i good' he says yes preventing her from knowing that she was raped last night. Very good film... unfortunatly it wouldn't get through to the Neanderthal apes we are currently breeding in the UK.
so real....it really affect me..too bad he needed to lie to protect her feelings...gosh!how long he can keep his secret..his a true friend and he relly love the girl so much for him to do that.
What I don't like about this is how it actually encourages lieing, sure, the truth is cold and hard, but it's also the truth. I also dislike how this shortie makes ketamine the scapegoat of everything wrong that happened, whereas in reality these people all made horrible mistakes and not one person did the right thing. Except maybe the younger boy, but that really depends on if you consider lieing to be a good or bad thing given the circumstance. I'm not surprised it didn't win.
@throsturth This is an amazing short film. Throughout the film is a gripping tone, the movie is shot in a way that makes the viewer very much involved, something very difficult to do with a short movie. The ending is shot in a way that shows the incredible intimacy between the two. The actual story shows that even though the world is an awful place, there are still good people. The boy is forced to keep this burden for the rest of his life to keep the girl's world from falling apart. Beautiful.
Folks often try to show love and courage in a film. This one does it on a monumental scale (consider the risks to the boy) and in a miniscule amount of time on screen. I so, so wanted this to win the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2008. I think the explicit nature of some scenes may have dented its chances a bit.
Wow thats fucked up for the girl, not really something you would want to keep a secret lol what if she got AIDS now or something? I would want to know. Then again this story isn't about the girl, it was all about the boy. Anyways, this was very nicely shot.
Incredible short. When the boy took of his jacket, i first thought he was going to put clothes on her. Then when he took of his shirt, I was still mostly inclined to think he wanted to give her the clothes on, but I wondered for a second if he wanted to seize the opportunity try and have intercourse with her as well. Then he lay down next to her.. a move I hadn't even considered. I think he saved her from a terrible reality. The hardest part for him must be to keep such a secret from her. Bravo!
Just curious, what is your interpretation of this film? Did the boy pretend it was him that she had lost her virginity to in order to a) protect her from an emotionally scarring truth, or b) take advantage of the situation and have the opportunity to have sex with her in the future.
coño.... i was not expecting this to be so sad... how could anyone fuck with the lives of such innocence that was so apparent in their haunting stares. the director did a very good job of portraying what he wanted. incredible camera work.

Dayum that's fucked up. Is Iceland really anything at all like that? Kids in shit-holes drinking alongside grown-ups & taking drugs & no one gives a shit? Grown-ups flirting with young girls then banging them like it's OK? Sounds like a seriously fucked up place if you ask me. If Iceland is anything at all like that, even a little, then scratch it off the list of my places to visit...In fact, please scratch it off the face of the earth.
@iiwatcher Sadly you have a bunch of countries to scratch of your list then. I'm afraid every country has nasty things happening to kids sometimes and it's ignorance like yours that allows it. But please tell me what perfect country you are from I'd really like to know!
There are many countries I wouldn't visit because they are mostly shit-holes, so yeah they are scratched off my list.
Because I won't visit Iceland I allow child abuse? DERP.
No one is talking about a perfect country. It's a matter of degree. Some countries are seriously wayyy more fucked up than others. Would you go live in Iraq or the shittiest parts of Africa? After all, no country is perfect right? DERP.
Are you really this dumb? Please go learn some logic then get back to me. 0_o
@iiwatcher LOL - No because you are ignorant you allow any kind of crime!
You didn't tell me about what perfect country you're from or choose to live in but I'm gonna a use my logic and say USA. The way you write points to that. You totally missed the point of the movie! Did you even understand it?
Now, I think the real reason you are scratching counties of your list is that you probably can't afford to travel. You write like you are uneducated and I'm glad you are not coming!
@HotesseDuNord Wrong, try again. Because I am ignorant I allow any kind of crime? What? That makes absolutely no sense. And I've yet to make any analytical statement about the film's meaning, so your assessment of my understanding of it, or lack thereof, is baseless. Your comments are so illogical, that for you to criticize the education level of others is laughable.
@iiwatcher I congratulate you. You finally wrote like a intelligent person, multiple syllable words and all. Who helped you?
Now give us the analytical statement about the film's meaning if you've got one!
Since you seem not to have understood: I was estimating your level of education based on your first and second comment. Read it again. You were insolent to a whole nation based on one short-film, and you needed to resort to a freak word like DERP. You also refer to Africa as a country.
You retard of course I know Africa is a continent. I threw it in to the mix not thinking I had to elaborate or take the time to make the distinction. Funny how you try to be condescending yet you can barely articulate. Your mother helped me, she helped me jack off but that's another story. Fuck your little test I have nothing to prove to you. Congratulations, you just proved what jackasses you people are. How's the economy going? LOL Fuck you & your piece of frozen rock w/ 300,000 drunks. XD
@iiwatcher Woohoooo! I'm starting to enjoy this :) I love that I managed to piss you off like that. Just so that you know, I will never stop. I'm sure you did not know this but my mum had a sex change operation 8 years ago. What does that make you?
