I suppose its gotta be genX then. The textures look like crayon drawings sometimes but you've gotta have those night textures, vfr on fs2004 was just black so objects looked like they were floating in space. Thanks for the preview.
I would go for genx since it seems it has got more darker colours that are similar to real world. But both scenery textures are photoreal. It probably depends on the time of day they were taken and weather.Since in the uk,weather changes fast. You never know.
I currently have and always have used the Justflight VFR.. Now just before i put in the discs for southern and central england, i thought... heck, lets have a look at horizon.. my local flight store is doing the three volume bundle for 45 pounds...
@DerryCummins some people do this as a hobby outside of work. besides, why were you watching this anyway? giving such a stupid comment on a video you didn't even want to watch... how pathetic
okay.. i know this is extremely off topic but im an Audio Engineer and I occasionally make Hip Hop Instrumentals, and I REALLLY NEED to know the name of this song so i can sample it! I could just record this one but i'd like the original if possible!
the all volume pack for vfr real at £40 is pretty good value at the moment. That and UTX night lights (to make up for the lights not following roads) is my preferred set up (I've deleted genx from my drive).
i spelt comparrison wrong there typing cock up hehe
FS games are great but to be honest i think that flying for real is just so much more fun you feel it you dont just watch it but still good fun to do in your spare time =)
Yeah, but it costs a fortune! Also FSX is good for practice, but not a replacement. Practicing IFR and VOR navigation is very useful. This scenery helps you practice navigating in the area which you fly, following roads and orientating where the VORs are etc.
i say generation x is better because of the colourours and the fact that it only takes 1 pack to get all the areas i fly. i use generation x version 2 area 1
Dude awesome video! Really useful information and fantastic editing, aswell as great music, 5*. I decided on horizon genx because i can get the whole of southern england for £30, whereas VFR Real you have to buy 3 separately for the section i fly in ! Thanks for making this comparison, great help.

I now agree. we must not get lost in the FS virtual world.
That "cover" is a seminal hip hop track - the Incredible Bongo Band from 1973,

good choice! I switch between the two regularly - currently I am a genx'ing. Try 30cm scenery for low and slow...see my latest video.

genx is crisper than vfr real but the colours and nightlights in genx are overdone.
My current preferred setup is:
VFR Real textures (more realistic)
Genx V2 mesh (no steps/contour lines unlike genxv1 and vfr real)
UTX night lights + UTX traffic

one thing iv found is that nextgen x version 2 is much crisper than version 1 and great on frame rates.
