That was the difference between Herc and Pete DJ Jones and Grandmaster Flowers who actually extended Breaks before Herc. Herc played just the breaks while Jones and Flowers played the whole song then extended the breaks. That's Hip Hop!!!

Bongo Rock was by the Incredible Bongo Band, one of Herc's signature records was Apache by the Incredible Bongo Band, which has a huge breakdown, whenever you heard that you knew Herc was on the decks, so they say. It went on to be covered by Flash on the Wheels of Steel, it became one of the most sampled records of all time, and has been used on a million and one records.
