The best book ive read on this,apart from the bible, is by a former atheist Lee Strobel who did a 2 year investigation into the claimes of the bible on the life of Christ.
He questioned the Resurrection , the miracles and the diety of Christ,asked questions of historians and philosophers.
After 2 years of investigation he came to a point where he could either accept the evidences as true,or ignore them.BUT what he could not do is deny them.
I do need to learn/read more ...and more so its not my place to tell people what they should believe...its something they have to find out for themself.

Ok when you look at a historical document one of the things that you look for is Bias. For example, a christian history or theologen will probably have a Christian stance. When I see a title like "The case for Christ" or "The god who wasn't there" my alarm bells go: Bias! and I approach it with caution. If all but one source agrees, but that one source is a neutral one and the others heavilly biased towards the christian point of view, which should you trust?

A scientific theory is the highest established claim an idea can have. A scientific theory (evolution) is testable, falsifiable, based on evidence (and mountains of it) and is as close to scientific laws as one can come. Outside science,a theory is just a word for any whimsical idea of explanation.
Let me guess, the poster of this video is refuting experts, professors, and teachers by surfing the web for a few hours and not finding much. I'm not a christian, but I do want to say this was done very well. I think the people who made this movie only wanted the attention, and it's sad to say that I think they might have gotten it. But unfortunately it seems the norm that its only the worst of any religion that makes it into the media.

There's actually evidence for extraterrestial life. Fossilized bacteria in meteorites was found before. I can't speak to UFO's. I think it's very unlikely to get visitors from another solar system. It would require too much power.

There are some records contained in the Bible that are historic but I would not go so far to imply that History confirms the Bible as truth. One of the gods that Jesus most resembles is the Egyptian deity Horus. If you study the life of Horus you will see striking similarities. From my perspective Christianity like all other religions are myths. They serve the purpose of explaining the unknown and providing comfort and connectedness to something bigger.

LOVED your review, and loved the sentence at the end about armpits, haha. Clever way to put it. I come from a very conservative fundamentalist Christian background, and my question is- even if there was a movie put out with facts and lots of opinions, do you think "we" would even truly listen? Often times I hear the phrase "put it through your filter first", which practically means done ponder on it if it doesn't line up to what you believe. I say Prov 14:15 and consider Matthew 15:8-9!

Most historical scholars (believers and non-believers) think that Jesus of Nazareth was a historical person. There are extra biblical sources (Josephus, and Tacitus) The idea that Jesus never existed is not widely supported in academia.

I've seen a lot better on the HIstory Channel and I was expecting a quality documentary that raised questions.

What about the story of Osiris on the walls of Egypt pre-dating Jesus story by thousands of years. The immaculate conception is right on the walls also "so called" Noahs ark .Cain and Abel. Tree of life etc check it out. Also the greeks came after and Dionysis derived from Isis "Aset" Osiris wife. These similar stories we know where they came from. Josephus was an impartial historian my friend, that's my point. Although it would be of great importance to a historian being able to be at the actual place of the happening, this is very unlikely, even today, but a historian or an analist does his homework and searches fact. Josephus was a historian, not a religious person. So please PASTORBLIS, first understand the mechanics of an historian specially on that era.

Josephus wasent a Eye witness,very few figures from history had eye witnesses...The writings about Alexander the Great are dated about 400 years after he died, yet historians consider them good and accurate sources.
We DO have Eye witness of Christ that the early Christians included in their version of the bible, his followers Matthew and John and second eye witnesses,Mark and Luke.
These witness are backed up by other writers and historians from the first and second century.

I watched thefilm, personally I think Brian the director besides making a poor quality film, is out to get stuff from his personal past ,tries so hard to make us believe it. It is completely absurd they are trying to deny Jesus existence.Doubt his miracles or resurrection ok, but His existence? come on! thats stupid, and childish! if you don't believe the bible read Josephus. There is only 1 reason for people to deny the existence of Christ. If they admit to him being real, they must admit that he is who he claimed to be. Therefore, if he is God, we the people will fall under his judgement. By denying he exists, they think they are not accountable. This is the basis for atheist living. God IS real. Your opinion regardless of what movies you make, what books you write means nothing! You WILL have to face him eventually. Nothing you say or believe changes that fact.

He accomplished what he had come to do. "What good did it do?" you ask? He was slapped, whipped, and crucified for YOU. He died for YOU. "What good did it do?" He gave and is giving you the opportunity to live an eternal life. That's "what good" it did. What did you expect Him to do when he completed what he had came to do? When a police or detective completes their mission, they go back to their base and look for another case. Jesus did exactly that and he is now working all over the world!

Well we don't sacrafice lambs to altars. That's a big step forward. He was the infinant forgiveness sacrafice.
He gave us the right to become children of God.
And he did actually come back to re-assure his desciples he was alive and encouradged them to spread the gospel. so now we have many charities and good works done in Jesus' name 2000 years after he died.
So yeah, I think the cross was a victory.

The best book ive read on this,apart from the bible, is by a former atheist Lee Strobel who did a 2 year investigation into the claimes of the bible on the life of Christ.
He questioned the Resurrection , the miracles and the diety of Christ,asked questions of historians and philosophers.
After 2 years of investigation he came to a point where he could either accept the evidences as true,or ignore them.BUT what he could not do is deny them.

Ok when you look at a historical document one of the things that you look for is Bias. For example, a christian history or theologen will probably have a Christian stance. When I see a title like "The case for Christ" or "The god who wasn't there" my alarm bells go: Bias! and I approach it with caution. If all but one source agrees, but that one source is a neutral one and the others heavilly biased towards the christian point of view, which should you trust?

With Strobel, if an historian he talked to was a christian then its testimony that that person not only studies that history but really knows and is is really convinced of it. Also what better person to talk to for info on christian history , than a professional in the field like a christian philosopher.

It is disturbing to see people still say that evolution is "just a theory". In the video the phrase comparing the theory of evolution and the "theory" of Christianity is not a comparison at all. A scientific theory is the highest established claim an idea can have. A scientific theory (evolution) is testable, falsifiable, based on evidence (and mountains of it) and is as close to scientific laws as one can come. Outside science,a theory is just a word for any whimsical idea of explanation.

Let me guess, the poster of this video is refuting experts, professors, and teachers by surfing the web for a few hours and not finding much. These experts are referring to ancient texts (which christians and catholics fervently tried to destroy throughout history) from pre christian sources. Their findings are a little more credible than someone's whose main sources are wikipedia and biased independent religious web pages found through google.

the next step after theory is law, a scientific law can only be obtained through math. the theory of gravity was only a law after it could be calculated and used to exactly predict the movement of planets. there is strong genetic evidence for evolution- genetic mutations traced back 100s of thousands of years. the ability for birds to grow teeth still in their dna, because not having teeth is a mutation- open your fucking eyes to it, god is a direct threat to science.

A Theory in the scientific terms means a model which explains a collection of facts. For example imagine a jigsaw puzzel and the pieces are facts. A theory would explain how those pieces go together.

'ItsJustARide314' maybe you should check your facts. There's a lot here about "theory". Do you know that Theology (the study of God, Christian or any other god) is historically a science just like Chemistry, Biology, Astrology, Mathematics, ect. It was only after the Enlightenment that Theology was ripped from the 'natural' sciences and made into a think of its own.
In that vain, the 'theory'(as you so respectfully called it) of Christianity is just as valid as your Religion of Evolution.

first off, thanks for patronizing me, second, why would you ever want Christianity as a science, its a religion and (specific facts aside) the two are mutually exclusive not dealing with the same focus areas even if the ideologies of the individual try to make it as such.

they only get in the way, and connection to a "God" as you choose to call it, would exist with out without these sad hicpocritical ideological spiritual bureaucracies. if god is so close to you then why the hell should it matter if you go to a collective gathering of "followers" every week. if god is really more real to you than the bible then you should be willing to be a bit more out of your mind than just conforming to an institution based on ITS connivence. good luck..

There's actually evidence for extraterrestial life. Fossilized bacteria in meteorites was found before. I can't speak to UFO's. I think it's very unlikely to get visitors from another solar system. It would require too much power.

Unless im mistaken those fossilized bacteria were inconclusive at best.Alot of spectulation as to if they are baterical fossils,how they would have formed..ie earth like conditions to form them, and if so where they came from..mabye Earth itself.

Nice try. Try googling "Dr. Godfrey Louis red rain" and you'll see a peer reviewed undisputed evidence of extraterrestrial bacteria. The red cells they found reproduce by budding, have no DNA, and can reproduce in temperatures as high as 600 degrees. They've been studying it for years.

I think the point is that the story of Christ is like the Wal-Mart of religion.
Monotheism allowed for these stories to be combined into one religion. Polytheism required you to go to different gods or demigods to get what you can with the "one" story of Christ.
Why go to several places to get a good story when you can go to one and get it cheaper?
Many people turned to Christianity in its early creation because it was easier than it was to get into the cults/sects that followed other gods.

Nothing easy about being thrown to the loins,crusified,burned, imprisoned and tortured for ones beliefs under the Roman Government and Jewish athorities of the day.Even with promice of release if they would deny their faith in Christ dident turn them.
It had to be more that just a feel good "religion" to be willing to go through all that.

If tring to draw comparison between Christ and some Egyptian god like Horus is the best Christ Mythers can come up with ,then their cause is indeed hopeless.

There are some records contained in the Bible that are historic but I would not go so far to imply that History confirms the Bible as truth. One of the gods that Jesus most resembles is the Egyptian deity Horus. If you study the life of Horus you will see striking similarities. From my perspective Christianity like all other religions are myths. They serve the purpose of explaining the unknown and providing comfort and connectedness to something bigger.

In all my years as a Christian I have never seen eividence much less proof.
At least when I die, if it should be true and I'm standing in fron of god, I can say that I used my god given intellegence and did not find any sensible, reasonable, logical, evidence to allow me to believe. Afetr all, that's why he gave me a brain..to make such determinations.

I wanted to remark on a couple of things. As a grad student in Classics (Latin and Greek language and history) I am somewhat qualified to respond. First, a correction. Mithras' birthday WAS Dec. 25th, but you are right that Jesus' wasn't. Actually, that day was given for Jesus birth early on because of how much he resembled Mithras as points. You are absolutely right, however, that no serious historian can take these sorts of attacks on Jesus seriously. I say this as a firm agnostic.

Please watch video again. He is for Christ. He was showing how Flemming was claiming that there were many people who did what Christ did and in the movie (haven't seen it) it shows a list of other people who did the same thing. The video was showing that these mythological gods maybe did one of them and Jesus did all of them! He is for Christ and apparently you are too so heads up, this video is Pro Christ :)

Sorry, not correct. There are many more sightings today, curiously, in mexico, but this is "because" of video cameras.
It's very possible that Jesus existed but was he who they say he was. What is true, what isn'r? It's impossible to know. We would have to have been there to know.
We have scriptural interpretations to consider, and now, within the next year the "Codex Siaiticus" will be made public and posted on the Net. What will they say about that one???

the "list" is true but not as it is portrayed.
They are simply saying that jesus takes attributes from all of the gods together...He is not a direct copy of all of them but a mixture.

Yes. They're saying that the "pre" xtian gods had diff. assorted attributes that ended up being used in the JC story, and as far as I can tell, they didn't "write" JCs story but carried it orally. U can imagine the problems with that. Besides, as in the movie, they did use "midrash"..took liberty with other stories (of the gods?) and could have used the info any way they wanted.
Problem is, we weren't there. All we can do is assume, leaning in which ever direction one is inclined.
