The dog was actually given up by his owners. They saw the video, recognized the dog, and went to the store to pay for it and buy another. That dog actually went 12 miles round trip for that bone. That is one smart dog!
The family (and many people who have left comments) thinks it is cute that Akira is "a roamer" but this is a serious problem. She could easily be hit by a car or stolen if they allow this bolting behavior to continue. They need to train her or give her to a family who can handle the responsibilities of being a pet guardian. This is not a cute story, this is a story of gross irresponsibility.
Uh, Mr. manager? I have a question. What are you going to do if you did apprehend the thief? Have the police arrest him and charge him with larceny?? Remember, he's under 18!! LOL!

this is only the beggining, that dog was a super secret military experiment, soon there will be packs of precious pretty pawlifting puppies pillaging the planet.
Aww I'd love to adopt that dog. It looked like he belonged to someone. To bad it looked cold as heck and snowing. If I were him I would have taken the bone too.
I don't think that is a wolf hybrid, I would say it is a Siberian Husky. It's almost a twin to one of mine also. Wolf like in it's appearance...as is mine who has constantly been mistaken for a wolf...but definitely not one.
I got a Lab bud for my Basset Seven. One night they escaped. Next morning Home Depot called. They were there, but every time he put them out, they just ran back to the automatic front door.
When I got there, they had their own aisle, blocked with a retractable gate. At the end was a garage door, where sat Seven and Buddy, planning their next escape. I yelled out "Here Buddy Here Seven!" Buddy ran up to me. Seven just looked at the garage door, hoping to continue his adventure.
"dirty, rotten scoundrel" is such a horrible title to put on a dog that just wanted to get something to eat.

Here's a quote I found on a Siberian Husky website: "To pre-empt food-stealing, a habit that often escalates in winter, the
Siberian should not be allowed unsupervised in the kitchen."
I guess they should change "the kitchen" to "retail stores".

At least I know my dog is not the only muzzlelifter (loaf of bread).
Alienself 3 years ago
one thanksgiving my dog ate two loaves of bread that were out for stuffing... and then had room to eat her food later.

How about "Cunning Canine". (I like Pawlifter better though.) I'm glad no one "arrested" him.
