  • nice work :) and what is the name of the first song please? Thank you :)

  • awesome work man...

  • @WarbirdFan66 Thanks, but I have to say it never really flew - too tailheavy :(

  • @GerbilEssences too bad, still awesome work man, just try to make your next plane a little bit lighter :)

  • Yo, can u make a tutorial. plz

  • ok my `DIY` models fly well, but i can never get the tissue effectively on the model without having to wait 12 hours for it to dry to the wood, and i know this is all about patience but its just pissing me off to no end. can i have some help please?

And BTW i wish my Wildcat came out as nicely as yours did but i ran out of paint. :D

  • very nice video and nice airplane!! I think the prop is mouted wrong in the vid?..

  • @abaer65 Yes you are entirely correct. And I wonder why it never flew very well...

Neraly completed the next plane Me109

  • great work!

  • @creamofcardstv Thank you, but it never flew :( I am making an Me109 that I insist will fly :)

  • beautiful model

  • @grwatanabe Thanks pal ,

  • Superb model :) Did you use balsa? That is what I use to make my model gliders :) Brilliant - nice music as well! For the body work did you use that shrink on plastic?

  • @2002And

Thanks. I used balsa, strips and thin sheet. Fuselage skin was silver tissue doped on with 50% Johnsons 'klear' floor wax (no longer produced!). I suppose shrink plastic could work, but it would need to be thin, at the moment I'm making models from Depron foam (MUCH harder than I thought).

    Dave

  • @GerbilEssences I see, good luck with the Depron foam! :) Yup, Klear is no longer produced; BasicModelling told me :)

  • how did you curve the balsa sheet at 1:22

  • @tdtom154 It was the thinnest grade of balsa - almost as flexible as paper. All i did was glue and strap rubber bands over until it set (although putting paper in between stops the band from denting the sheet/ flicking off).

For thicker sheets, wing spars and fuselage formers, you can soak in nail varnish remover or vinegar and it will stay curved when it dries. A quicker method involves steaming over a kettle to bend small strips - but don't get scalded ;) :O!

    Dave.

  • @tdtom154 I forgot to mention, maybe it is obvious, but the balsa will bend much better at 90* to the grain. You will get a feel for it. For this reason when you cut shapes from balsa always make sure the grain runs along the length of the piece for strength ;)

  • @GerbilEssences thanks alot :)

  • nice job!

  • @awsem1o1 Thanks ;)

  • Very nice music selection.

  • @FNP3 Thanks ;)

  • Good job!

  • @capturar Thanks, it's a shame she never flew ;)

  • well job Private u are promoted to captain dismiss trooper

    nice done does it fly?

  • @1makermovie Thanks, I use the term 'fly' loosely (see the top video on the right hand list).

  • nobody noted, but prop is set in wrong position! good job anyway.

  • Haha, yes it is true! I am inexperienced to say the least.

  • nice job

  • thanks

  • Aah, someone who knows how to work Balsa, at last :) (drools)

  • Cheers, and suchlike.

  • Really Great Job!

  • Thanks! I found a nice simple plan for a PZL 11 in this scale :)

  • It's really nice ;) PZL P.11 is a one of my favourite planes :))

  • I have some small 3V motors for power ;)

  • Absolutely wicked ! and one of my fav warbirds to boot. Thx.

  • Slow but tough she was.

    Cheers!

  • Wow, as always...

    Well done...

This inspires me to make one of my own.

I have always wanted to make the step from 2D to 3D.

Too bad the link you put in your description is down...

Probably the site was overloaded by all the users that were linked through this video ;-)

  • The link works, as far as I can tell?

I will try a fokker soon I promise. At the moment though the work table is unavailable in my house ;)

    Thanks again.

  • I didn't click HQ.. GASP!! The TIMES!!?? Are you one of them intellick.. entelign.. intleign.. clever chaps??

Enjoyed the video, and a superb end result!! At least for now.. looking forward to the next installment, even if I know what happened.. :0)

  • I tried to cut the video length, but I was a little too successful :)

    Thanks!

  • You did a good job of cutting the plane, though.. :)

  • Oh T.Hanks you are to kind!

I believe I shall attempt a PZL 11 with kinked wings alongside my bigger Messerschmidt effort ;)

  • Yes, kinky stuff has its purposes from time to time.. now I must send my son a mobile txt.. he was born this very minute (00:10) 20 years ago.. better dash or I'll be late.. :) :)

  • 19?

  • No, 20.. :) That's why I wrote 20 years ago in the comment.. :)

  • 20 years ago? Thats really trying my memory, I would only have been 4 years old when you wrote the comment ;)

  • Ha.. ha ha.. ha ha ha.. :) On a sad note though.. my son is still inn London! ;( His kidney levels where too high by 0.3.. or something, so he has to stay there another 24 hours.. we are not amused! Rather put a damper to what would have been a nice birthday, concidering.. :(

  • Oh thats terrible being ill in hospital on a birthday. Still praying. What is kidney levels?

  • They measure the level of creatinine in his kidneys, it can be affected by the chemo, and if too high may cause permanent damage.. but it has gone down within normal levels now, and they left the hospital about 20 minutes ago, so he should be home within 1 1/2 hour or so.. :) Just fitted the wings to my Academy Il-2, a slightly overengineered kit in my opinion, but for all the complications, not one ounce of filler has been needed.. yet!! Thye said it's a superb kit.. and it is!

  • The instructions could be somewhat clearer though, I've had to do some last minute surgery and parts removal, as the instructions didn't make it exactly clear where to put them and how.. they could have done it a bit simpler, parts wise.. :) But still a joy.. it has also rekindled my interest in completeing my 'new' Hurricane conversion, the 2-seater I started ages ago! Same as my old one, just a better kit from start, making it more accurate.. :)

  • I also found some decals for a Hurricane Mk.IIa, in a desert NIGHT scheme.. based at Malta! A bit unusual, so now I may end up with TWO Mk.IIa's, instead of the one I already had the decals for.. It's easy to convert a Mk.IIb into a Mk.IIa.. so that's what I'll be doing.. and soon.. :)

  • Battle of Malta sounds like a good scheme. You could add some history to the video. Even ask emspiteri?

  • Not a bad idea, actually... :)

  • So good news on both fronts then :) IS this a 1 seater?

  • Yes, I'm only doing one 2-seater.. unless I get the resin kit for the Persian trainer too.. It's a different kind of 2-seater to the Russian one, which was made as a ground attacker with a rear gunner.. The other various conversions I have planned will all be pretty standard.. or at least just have the one seat!! :)

Son is home now.. Hooray! He is ordering a Chinese, which saves me cooking! Guess I have to pay for it though.. :) Still have to cook for 'mother', but that is easy.. :)

  • Good news! Enjoy your Chinese ;)

  • King Prawn Chow Mein.. and chicken balls in sweet'n'sour sauce.. :)

  • Mmm

  • It was... :)
