@freedomeagle50 Hey now, Up and Monsters Inc have just as much heartfelt emotion and wonder as a lot of the good Disney movies. Personally, I certainly prefer them to, for instance, Pinocchio. It's true, though--Disney needs to get back to wonderful movies like this.

They seem to be on the right track, though. Prince and the Frog and Tangled were quite good. Not to mention they're handling the North American localization of The Secret World of Arietty, which looks wonderful.

Every time I see them, I see examples were I know people who like both sides of the comparison (such as liking both Up and Bambi) and others where people aren't too interested in either side... (such as disliking both Cars and Beauty and the Beast)

Personally I do like all of the 2D animated films and only one or two of the 3D animated films you mentioned, but I never thought it should be a past vs present sort of thing.

@freedomeagle50 Pixar is better than Disney because they have what Disney HAD until Walt died in 1966.They only started up again in the early 90s, as we know, but quickly devolved into schlock once more until they acquired a little company name Pixar in 2006. You are complaining about Pixar, the company that Disney is banking on and will never let go. Pixar now has to make sequels for their past successes, a common Disney-esque franchise whoring technique.

@davivsa It was stupid. In reality, John Smith and Pocahontas never really had a romantic relationship. Fair enough, but Disney decided to distort the facts and make a fictional beautiful story. Why then did they suddenly decide to revert to 'facts' in the second film? (Pocahontas ended up with John Rolfe in real life). But it's just stupid - I know sequels are ultimately for money, but they could have at least remained consistent. I was obsessed with Pocahontas 1 but watched the 2nd just once!
