Contrary to intutive assumptions that Liston's reach impeded his ability to fight on the inside, he was actually excellent at fighting on the inside. Sonny's weakness was when he had to chase rangy fleet afoot fighters with great lateral movement like Ali. It would expose his lack of footspeed and heavy handed punches. Guys like Patterson and Tyson who used their speed to close the distance and lunge inside actually make the fight easier for guys like Foreman and Liston.
lmao a dive? patterson has a great heart but no chin and liston was a slugger. its stylistically a nightmare. a weak chin swarmer runs in against a power punching slugger? forget about it.
@Ricky42791 Now Tyson was hard to get off his feet but once hit it hurt him and just took the fight right out of him. Tyson rarely if ever recovered from a good solid shot. He did against Tucker because Tucker broke his hand. And of course Bruno who was no Liston. Against Holyfield, Williams, Mcbride, Douglas and Lewis, Tyson virtually quit after he took his first solid punch.
@mongoose704 Thats not true, Lewis pounded on mike for eight rounds virtually hitting him at will with huge shots and he still kept going forward, douglas had to hit tyson with everything AND the kitchen sink for 10 rounds before he knocked mike down and that was more from poor stanima and fatiuge than anything. Holyfield never dropped tyson in the first fight he stopped him but never dropped him you cant even bring up williams and mcbride thats a joke
@Ricky42791's deluded microbrain spewed forth this gem: "Holyfield never dropped tyson in the first fight "
Round six in the first fight you stupid fucking douchetarded numbskull. Holyfield dropped Tyson. Shut up and go back to sucking the piss out of your girdle.
@mongoose704 whoa chill out i was talking about the end of the fight when he was TKO'D by holyfield but your right my mistake, and for a man that cant stand tyson you certainally know him well, I never meant to insult you personally were debating boxing here, and mike never stopped coming forward even when he was hurt by brunos shots.
@Ricky42791 I know about Tyson because I am educated about what I speak of. That's a prerequisite for discussions. Furthermore I am a boxing enthusiast. I was watching Tyson as an up and comer and he was the most electric and explosive fighter I've ever seen but not the greatest. So Tyson "moved" forward after bruno's hard shot. That's just stubborness. Heart is fighting back. Tyson abandoned his body work for 2 rounds, afraid to drop his hands.
@mongoose704 I consider myself a student of boxing as well as a amatuer boxer. I dont have tyson as the greatest fighter of all time either, and if you listened to what i said, ive even admitted tysons lack of heart. I am talking about the mans chin. I dont know why you have to be so disrespectful.
@Ricky42791 I have done some fighting as well and I can tell you that "chin" is a misnomer and a myth. What we really mean is how much does a punch affect the fighter and how long does it take for him to recover from a good one. The answer is not very well for Mike. Just because he was hard to take off his feet and could move forward afterward doesn't mean he has a great chin. That is a nuance I've made abundantly clear and am growing weary of having to repeat to you.
@Ricky42791 Going foward means nothing. Really kid this isn't Balboa vs Mr T we're talking about and heart isn't standing there taking the best shots the other fighter has to offer while screaming "aint so bad!" Tyson may have come forward but wasn't throwing any punches. That's called stupid. If you're gonna get brain damage, hit the sumnabitch back. That's heart. But Tyson doesn't recover well from good shots be it mentally or physically, "them's just the facts" as they say.
@Ricky42791 So if you want to see someone getting hit with the kitchen sink yet still coming forward AND throwing punches, watch Holyfield Bowe I rd 10. That's a warrior.
Now compare Tyson. He took a hard shot to end the 1st round with Douglas. He was dominated the rest of the way, throwing only one punch at a time. Lewis. HE started fast but took a stiff uppercut middle of RD 1. He threw about twenty more punches the rest of the fight. Bruno: Took a hard shot and basically didn't throw another body shot for 3 rounds because he was afraid to drop his hands. Ruddock? I already gave him credit there but blind squirrels and nuts ya know.
@mongoose704 cause your obviously set in your opinion and I am in mine. Were not going to convince eachother its pointless...and your really just trolling tyson videos and talking shit, your just as bad as any "fanboi" if that worse because your so negative. your all over this page attacking everyone, chill out
@Ricky42791 It's you Tyson ballsack slurpers trolling Liston-Patterson videos out of fear that someone might be criticizing Tyson. Tyson's limitations somehow make you feel inferior? Fear not the world judges you on your accomplishments, not on the accomplishments of an assumed role model.
@mongoose704 I was watching this video because I am a student of boxing and I enjoy the stylistic match up. I believe it was you brought up Tyson and I replied with a different opinion. You also said you questioned his heart not his chin but then you try to convince me he did have a bad chin...I am a fan of Mike Tyson is that a sin? I also said i didnt consider him the greatest of all time or unbeatable. Your bellegerence duludes your argument no matter what your point may be
@Ricky42791 So I'm, trolling Tyson videos...on a Liston Patterson video? If you carefully trace back the posts you'll see, long ago, it was Tyson nutlickers trolling this video saying: "Ook ook, Tyson kick Liston butt! Tyson OWN. U R GAY!" Therefore what you "believe" doesn't matter. Some people believe in leprechauns too. Doesn't make them real.
The video is about Liston Patterson. Go live vicariously through Tyson on a Tyson video and stop trolling boxing fans.
@PureBoxerP4P Most assuredly so. The D'Amato (and Frazier) style is tailor made for Liston. Some ignoramus fanbois claim Patterson was "too slow" therefore Tyson would succeed where Patterson failed. LMFAO he was considered one of the quickest heavyweights in history and Liston utterly smashed him. Listons exceptionally long powerful jab (better than Buster Douglas' and with longer reach) and uppercuts destroy Tyson. Liston loved fighters that came to him.
@mongoose704 No doubt, it seems like Patterson is by consensus the fastest handed HW of all-time. Tyson was obviously a very good fighter, but he never to ANYTHING to prove he could beat a monster on the level of Liston.
@PureBoxerP4P Others say Tyson's chin was better. Tyson could take an enormous amount of punishment and stay on his feet. He was built low to the ground and had a very solid center of gravity and strong legs. But he would become tentative for a long while after a solid shot and simply stop fighting. He would become the desperate one punchmiracle seeker. Tyson didn't recover quickly from good punches. Liston had fearsome power, more than any fighter Tyson lost to.
@mongoose704 Tyson took murderous shots from ruddock and a great bruno right hand and ate them for breakfast and tuckers uppercut slowed him down a step but he recovered quickly, you can say tyson was mentally weak or unstable maybe even a lack of heart but you cant question the man's chin...
@Ricky42791 I never wuestioned his chin. Rather I question his heart...
and your IQ. It took Tyson three rounds to recover from bruno's shot and everyone on the planet knows it. Tyson struggled after that shot. Thanks to Bruno being a slow plodding robotic anabolic meatsack, Tyson was able to recover. Tucker? He broke his fucking right hand, douchetard and couldn't follow up. Stick to lapping Tyson's nuts with your tongue and stay out of intelligent conversation.
@diamondmoney007 Yeah, Mike would've killed Sonny. Same intimidation, but Mike was such a better boxer. He would've uppercutted Sonny out of his shoes. Young Tyson vs. Sonny in his prime (mid-30s), Mike wins 11 out of 10 times.
@shellbsd23 Patterson was as fast as Heavyweights come. fought the D'Amato style and had the same reach as Tyson. Liston destroyed him twice inside 1 round. Ali got to Liston but then again Ali had an 83" reach and made Sonny chase him. Tyson would come straight at Liston and that's right in Liston's comfort zone. Liston destroys Tyson.
@mongoose704 yeah that's what we thought Ruddock would do against Tyson as well with his superior physique but it didn't matter. Ruddock also ran over his oponents until he faced Tyson. I'm not saying Tyson wins against Liston 100%, but I am of tired of hearing comments about his weak mentality. I am not blind. I can see Patterson's speed and he is nowhere near Tyson's overall speed, not with footwork, not with combination punching, not at evading punches). Probably same power.
@shellbsd23 That's not what I thought. Ruddock is a good boxer, that's it. Liston was a great boxer and also had one of the top five left jabs in heavyweight history. You're trying to compare a journeyman to an ATG.
I have no sympathy for you being tired of hearing the truth. Tyson was mentally weak and everyone in boxing knows it. However I do agree Tyson's victories over Ruddock were among his top in terms of quality.
@shellbsd23 And you would be wise to not judge the speed of a fighter by a fifty year old copy of a horribly stretched reel to reel video. That's why those old fighters look so slow. I'll go by what every damn person who knew something about boxing said. Floyd Patterson had terrific speed.
He broke records, he came back against Ingo and was well liked. Guy's an inspiration. Shame he didn't stand a chance against Liston. Floyd Patterson 1935- 2006.
im 12-0 LHW pro mate, watch ali's footwork when he throws these combos throws a left leads with his lefts both feet on the same horizontal line, thats why he rarely nocked anyone outin the first 1-2 rounds. hes a great great fighter but the videos never lie.
At least back then you knew who the champ was. Now does anyone have any idea who is the heavyweight champion? They're a million different belts from different self-serving organizations and a different weight class every 4 pounds. Boxing is dead as a doornail as result. The so called "World Boxing" councils and associations are actually only small business entities that put "world" in their titles. All the new "organizations" simply copied the WBC and WBA blueprint. Takes only 3 people.
sonny is beast ,but floyd in this match always put head down beacuse he scared liston punch, but floyd must be offensive in this match and faster but he did not so that s way this match be just 1 round. this fight is in las vegas ? this is real knockdown not phantom punch like ali vs liston.
@Trojanxplayer floyd paterson is out weighed by liston by 25 pounds. floyd should have went to light heavyweight he cant take the punishement of fighters like liston or ali who was 200+ when they fought floyd
When you see Marciano all battered and bruised after the 7th round in the second Charles fight, you think that the fight is over. In the 8th round, Marciano knocks Charles out. After twelve rounds with Walcott, Marciano is destined to lose the decision. He is too far behind in both points and rounds. Then comes the knockout in the 13th round. So yes, Liston and Foreman had the Big Punch to knockout Marciano, but would the Big Punch get the job done? Then again, Marciano was the much smaller man.
Patterson, like Frazier, was a swarmer. Patterson, like Frazier, wanted to outslug a slugger. Patterson, like Frazier, fought out of a couch and both fighers were doing a lot bobbing and weaving. Liston and Foreman can be outboxed by a boxer, Ali proved it. However, the Patterson-Frazier swamer/crowder style usually will not work against a Liston nor a Foreman.
@stephenwinkler Right,...but only Ali using the greatest tactics in any fight at any weight in all of history could pull off the miracles he did. Liston and Foreman would have destroyed Louis, Marciano, Walcott, Charles, Frazier, Norton, Holmes, and especially Tyson in their primes. They were all solid for their time..but were tiny..and no matter how skilled as boxers,...would have been demolished by Liston or Foreman. In reality, those two Heavyweights had the equivalent luck of the Titanic.
@nate63able Liston and Foreman were sluggers. Louis fought plenty of sluggers to defend his title for twenty-five times and retain the championship for twelve years. Marciano was another swarmer and remained undefeated against all styles: slugger, boxer-puncher, swarmer. Dempsey, Louis, and Marciano would have given both Liston and Foreman a fight for their money, but then, they also had the big punch to win. Marciano had the courage, determination, and endurance to win over all of them.
@nate63able I couldn't believe your comment when I read it. There is no such thing as a 'miracle'. Tyson IMO would have beaten Liston and Foreman. The fact that you say 'destroyed' and 'easily' is arbitrary. Tyson's advanced head movement, combined with his hand speed, and speed moving around the ring. Would be unlike anything they've ever fought. He's a much improved version of Frazier, and Patterson. And Mike was 10 x faster than both of them, and didn't lack much of their power either.
@Ostrasize Cuz D'Amato flat out told Tyson that he could never ever beat Foreman or Liston because of the style he was trained in which is the same as Patterson's. Patterson was actually faster than Tyson (and don't let old stretched videotapes fool you into thinking he was slow.) Patterson was noted for his exceptional quickness. Look at what Foreman did to Frazier, Liston did to Patterson and Tyson didn't have a tenth of the heart Frazier had. Tyson even admitted he was afraid of Foreman.
@mongoose704 Tyson could beat either guy, but not that often. He had a much better chin than Frazier, and hit much harder and was faster. If he hit Foreman with a combination inside, he'd have taken his head off.
Frazier was different from Tyson. Tyson was much bigger, stronger, and faster. He could hit with both hands.
Foreman might win most of the times they fought, but not even close to every time. Look at Tyson/Ruddock. Ruddock hit like mule, and was fast. And huge.
@TA152H01 ruddock was a freaking bum, tyson had no stammina, 3 of his fights were don king set ups to go down after one punch tyson couldnt beat any HOF in there prime
@MrLukedanger You missed the point completely. Ruddock hit at least as hard as Foreman, and he couldn't knock Tyson out.
If Tyson hit Foreman with a combination, Foreman would wake up some time next week. So, if you put those two in the ring, Foreman would win some, Tyson would win some. Foreman had the reach and size, but Tyson had the speed. Both had enough punch to hurt the other guy. Tyson obviously had the better chin, although his stamina did suck. But so did Foreman's.
@TA152H01 foreman went down 3 times in his career once to ali and twice to lyle and that was a blood bath the foreman your thinking of is 40+ year old foreman after his comeback the in his prime foreman would have ate mike alive, hell mike even ducked 40+ foreman, ruddock is diabolicaly slow its untrue, if your still around to get hit by one of his punches you need to give up. foreman had 5 inch reach advantage. tyson was like frazier and look what foreman did, put him down 6/8 times...
@MrLukedanger Foreman got knocked down by powder puffs like Ali and Jimmy Young. You think he'd stand up to Tyson?
Tyson was different from Frazier. He had a much stronger chin, hit much harder, was much faster, and was two-handed. Frazier had MUCH more heart, and much more stamina.
The reality is, either could win that fight. If Tyson landed against the extremely slow Foreman (Ruddock was much faster), he'd go down and out. But, if Foreman lasted a few rounds ...
@TA152H01 jimmy young was a slip, and v ali (the greatest heaveyweight of all time) was after he hit him as hard and fast as he could for 8 rounds, tyson was a bum never beat one HOF'er in there prime, ring magazine has him as the 17th best heavyweight of all time, george foreman is 5th. tyson never fought bowe, morrison, foreman(way past it) not one top contender of his day. tyson got nocked the fuck out by danny williams.
@MrLukedanger Ali had the punch of a welterweight. Tyson hit much harder and was almost as fast.
I'm not a fan of Tyson, and I don't think he was a great fighter, but he could knock out Foreman. Foreman sucked too, don't forget. Who did he ever beat besides over the hill Frazier? "Glass-Jaw" Norton, who got beat by every puncher he fought?
Neither of these guys were great, and if Tyson connected, big George would be flat George. If they fought 10 times, each would win a few.
@TA152H01 im sorry but ali punch of a welterweight no way, he was always on the move thats why he had no power, he had 1st round ko's. frazier is one of the top 10 heavyweights of all time, and my personal favorite, norton was class, he was just scared of george, patterson the fastest heavyweight of all time, cleveland williams, oscar bonevana, ron lyle, jimmy elis jerry quary, earnie shavers, leon spinks, larry holmes, don wepner. best heavyweight division of all time.
@MrLukedanger Frazier said Ali had no power, Ali said he had no punch too, so I'm going to stick to what they said.
Frazier never beat a great except for Ali. Ali himself said Marciano was better than Frazier. Not that Frazier was bad, he just wasn't top 10 in my book.
Norton went down against anyone with a good left hook. Quarry had no defense. Ellis doesn't approach being great. Lyle? You're kidding. Leon Spinks? You're really kidding. Holmes was great, the rest aren't.
@TA152H01 every single name i said would come back and clean up the heavy weight division and retire haye klitkunts and that cave troll valuev, tyson fought the real nobodys, and when he came up against anyone who was willing to fight back he had his ass handed to him, when foreman found people who fight back (after a 10 year layoff, and at the age of 39-47) he kept on fighting, if you think foreman had no jaw watch holyfield foreman or morrison foreman, or better yet moore foreman.
@MrLukedanger I think either Klitschko would clean up the heavyweight era you're referring too. Holmes would be the possible exception, and you'd have to give Tyson and Foreman a puncher's chance, but that's it. Klitschkos are so big, they'd runthouse guys like Frazier. Even young Foreman would look puny.
I never said Foreman had no chin, just that Tyson could knock him out if he landed a successful combination. Lyle had him swaggering like a drunken sailor, Tyson was much more lethal.
@MrLukedanger What the actual fuck are you on about that Ali had no power? You do not become heavyweight champion of the world without power.... His pure speed and weight gave him power. You obviously really know nothing about boxing.
@FoxyBomb you cant have power unless you walk into your punches or plant your feet moving while punching lowers how hard you hit, you my friend know sweet fuck all Xxxxx
@MrLukedanger Your not really that bright are you? Every professional and amateur would know you can't move backwards while throwing a power punch, the jab is different. Ali would always move around but if you ever seen him fight whenever he throws his combinations instead of jabbing he would be perfectly still, and THEN start moving around again. Go and watch him fight if you don't believe me.
@mongoose704 Cus D'Amato witnessed 11 of Tysons fights and knew "Kid Dynamite". 17 fights later Tyson beat Trevor Berbick for the WBC HW title and became "The Baddest Man on the Planet".
Cus D'Amato never saw 'Iron Mike' and couldn't have known what he was capable of. I believe Tyson would have beaten Frazier, Patterson, Liston and Ali with ease. Foreman's wild uppercuts could have been a problem though.
@shellbsd2 Tyson beats Frazier. He destroys Patterson. Liston he has big problems with. Think Buster Douglas only an even longer reach, more power and a better chin. Foreman disposes of Tyson as easily as he did Frazier. Ali? That depends. Stylistically Tyson poses some big problems for Ali. But mentally speaking it's a baby vs a man. Imagine the Louisville Lip inside Mike's head.
In an interview immediately after the first fight when asked about a rematch, Patterson said he thought he would do a little better: he lasted 4 seconds longer. Generously at the same time he also said the public should give Liston a chance, that he could be a worthy champion. Lovely words, but defeatist talk; sounding more like someone bequeathing a legacy than a fighter intending to rip the title back
Contrary to intutive assumptions that Liston's reach impeded his ability to fight on the inside, he was actually excellent at fighting on the inside. Sonny's weakness was when he had to chase rangy fleet afoot fighters with great lateral movement like Ali. It would expose his lack of footspeed and heavy handed punches. I'm not saying Tyson wins against Liston 100%, but I am of tired of hearing comments about his weak mentality. I am not blind. I can see Patterson's speed and he is nowhere near Tyson's overall speed, not with footwork, not with combination punching, not at evading punches). Probably same power.
shellbsd23 2 months ago
@shellbsd23 That's not what I thought. Ruddock is a good boxer, that's it. Liston was a great boxer and also had one of the top five left jabs in heavyweight history. You're trying to compare a journeyman to an ATG.
I have no sympathy for you being tired of hearing the truth. Tyson was mentally weak and everyone in boxing knows it. However I do agree Tyson's victories over Ruddock were among his top in terms of quality.

@mongoose704 read this to understand how wrong you are:
heavyweightblogcom/393/sonny-liston-the-eric-esch-of-the-1960ies
Sonny Liston's WINopponents CONSIST WITHOUT EXCEPTION ONLY of
1. bums
2. guys who have been KO'ed before
3. cruisers
4. former cruisers
Any top 10 HW today would easily beat Liston in his prime.

@shellbsd23 LOL. "Oh I rally gotcha now, with the pulitzer prize winning fanboi blog of doom!" Is that tripe all you got, Corky?
Ali said Liston was better than Foreman. Stupid bitchtard.
mongoose704 2 months ago
@shellbsd23 And you would be wise to not judge the speed of a fighter by a fifty year old copy of a horribly stretched reel to reel video. That's why those old fighters look so slow. I'll go by what every damn person who knew something about boxing said. Floyd Patterson had terrific speed.
mongoose704 2 months ago
He broke records, he came back against Ingo and was well liked. Guy's an inspiration. Shame he didn't stand a chance against Liston. Floyd Patterson 1935- 2006.
Noodles37UK 7 months ago
im 12-0 LHW pro mate, watch ali's footwork when he throws these combos throws a left leads with his lefts both feet on the same horizontal line, thats why he rarely nocked anyone outin the first 1-2 rounds. hes a great great fighter but the videos never lie.
MrLukedanger 7 months ago
It's funny how Ali had all those ko's at heavyweight with the punch of a welterweight...
johnwtanneriv 7 months ago
Good job Floyd bought his disguise with him on this night...
caspergolightly 7 months ago
In both fights Patterson walked into Liston , to trade punches. It cost Floyd both times!
kentmotsinger 8 months ago
love the slowmotion. shame the fight starts during the round rather then right at the beginning. but yea the slow-mo is sweet.
djmax2k6 8 months ago
At least back then you knew who the champ was. Now does anyone have any idea who is the heavyweight champion? They're a million different belts from different self-serving organizations and a different weight class every 4 pounds. Boxing is dead as a doornail as result. The so called "World Boxing" councils and associations are actually only small business entities that put "world" in their titles. All the new "organizations" simply copied the WBC and WBA blueprint. Takes only 3 people.

sonny is beast ,but floyd in this match always put head down beacuse he scared liston punch, but floyd must be offensive in this match and faster but he did not so that s way this match be just 1 round. this fight is in las vegas ? this is real knockdown not phantom punch like ali vs liston.
master82565 10 months ago
Notice how it was Liston's strong jab that set up most of his attacks. Terrific punch.
27danielDM 10 months ago
Omg why does Floyd Patterson suck so bad?? when I just seen Sonny get his ass knocked out in the 1st round by ali....wow.
Trojanxplayer 11 months ago
@Trojanxplayer floyd paterson is out weighed by liston by 25 pounds. floyd should have went to light heavyweight he cant take the punishement of fighters like liston or ali who was 200+ when they fought floyd

@Trojanxplayer Because the Alie fights were fixed.

Then again, Marciano was the much smaller man.
stephenwinkler 11 months ago

In reality, those two Heavyweights had the equivalent luck of the Titanic.
nate63able 11 months ago
@nate63able Liston and Foreman were sluggers. Louis fought plenty of sluggers to defend his title for twenty-five times and retain the championship for twelve years. Marciano was another swarmer and remained undefeated against all styles: slugger, boxer-puncher, swarmer. Dempsey, Louis, and Marciano would have given both Liston and Foreman a fight for their money, but then, they also had the big punch to win. Marciano had the courage, determination, and endurance to win over all of them.
stephenwinkler 11 months ago
@nate63able I couldn't believe your comment when I read it. There is no such thing as a 'miracle'. Tyson IMO would have beaten Liston and Foreman. The fact that you say 'destroyed' and 'easily' is arbitrary. Tyson's advanced head movement, combined with his hand speed, and speed moving around the ring. Would be unlike anything they've ever fought. He's a much improved version of Frazier, and Patterson. And Mike was 10 x faster than both of them, and didn't lack much of their power either.
Ostrasize 10 months ago
@Ostrasize Cuz D'Amato flat out told Tyson that he could never ever beat Foreman or Liston because of the style he was trained in which is the same as Patterson's. Patterson was actually faster than Tyson (and don't let old stretched videotapes fool you into thinking he was slow.) Patterson was noted for his exceptional quickness. Look at what Foreman did to Frazier, Liston did to Patterson and Tyson didn't have a tenth of the heart Frazier had. Tyson even admitted he was afraid of Foreman.
mongoose704 9 months ago
@mongoose704 Tyson could beat either guy, but not that often. He had a much better chin than Frazier, and hit much harder and was faster. If he hit Foreman with a combination inside, he'd have taken his head off.
Frazier was different from Tyson. Tyson was much bigger, stronger, and faster. He could hit with both hands.
Foreman might win most of the times they fought, but not even close to every time. Look at Tyson/Ruddock. Ruddock hit like mule, and was fast. And huge.
TA152H01 8 months ago
@TA152H01 ruddock was a freaking bum, tyson had no stammina, 3 of his fights were don king set ups to go down after one punch tyson couldnt beat any HOF in there prime
MrLukedanger 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger You missed the point completely. Ruddock hit at least as hard as Foreman, and he couldn't knock Tyson out.
If Tyson hit Foreman with a combination, Foreman would wake up some time next week. So, if you put those two in the ring, Foreman would win some, Tyson would win some. Foreman had the reach and size, but Tyson had the speed. Both had enough punch to hurt the other guy. Tyson obviously had the better chin, although his stamina did suck. But so did Foreman's.
TA152H01 8 months ago
@TA152H01 foreman went down 3 times in his career once to ali and twice to lyle and that was a blood bath the foreman your thinking of is 40+ year old foreman after his comeback the in his prime foreman would have ate mike alive, hell mike even ducked 40+ foreman, ruddock is diabolicaly slow its untrue, if your still around to get hit by one of his punches you need to give up. foreman had 5 inch reach advantage. tyson was like frazier and look what foreman did, put him down 6/8 times...
MrLukedanger 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger Foreman got knocked down by powder puffs like Ali and Jimmy Young. You think he'd stand up to Tyson?
Tyson was different from Frazier. He had a much stronger chin, hit much harder, was much faster, and was two-handed. Frazier had MUCH more heart, and much more stamina.
The reality is, either could win that fight. If Tyson landed against the extremely slow Foreman (Ruddock was much faster), he'd go down and out. But, if Foreman lasted a few rounds ...
TA152H01 8 months ago
@TA152H01 jimmy young was a slip, and v ali (the greatest heaveyweight of all time) was after he hit him as hard and fast as he could for 8 rounds, tyson was a bum never beat one HOF'er in there prime, ring magazine has him as the 17th best heavyweight of all time, george foreman is 5th. tyson never fought bowe, morrison, foreman(way past it) not one top contender of his day. tyson got nocked the fuck out by danny williams.
MrLukedanger 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger Ali had the punch of a welterweight. Tyson hit much harder and was almost as fast.
I'm not a fan of Tyson, and I don't think he was a great fighter, but he could knock out Foreman. Foreman sucked too, don't forget. Who did he ever beat besides over the hill Frazier? "Glass-Jaw" Norton, who got beat by every puncher he fought?
Neither of these guys were great, and if Tyson connected, big George would be flat George. If they fought 10 times, each would win a few.
TA152H01 8 months ago
@TA152H01 im sorry but ali punch of a welterweight no way, he was always on the move thats why he had no power, he had 1st round ko's. frazier is one of the top 10 heavyweights of all time, and my personal favorite, norton was class, he was just scared of george, patterson the fastest heavyweight of all time, cleveland williams, oscar bonevana, ron lyle, jimmy elis jerry quary, earnie shavers, leon spinks, larry holmes, don wepner. best heavyweight division of all time.
MrLukedanger 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger Frazier said Ali had no power, Ali said he had no punch too, so I'm going to stick to what they said.
Frazier never beat a great except for Ali. Ali himself said Marciano was better than Frazier. Not that Frazier was bad, he just wasn't top 10 in my book.
Norton went down against anyone with a good left hook. Quarry had no defense. Ellis doesn't approach being great. Lyle? You're kidding. Leon Spinks? You're really kidding. Holmes was great, the rest aren't.
TA152H01 8 months ago
@TA152H01 every single name i said would come back and clean up the heavy weight division and retire haye klitkunts and that cave troll valuev, tyson fought the real nobodys, and when he came up against anyone who was willing to fight back he had his ass handed to him, when foreman found people who fight back (after a 10 year layoff, and at the age of 39-47) he kept on fighting, if you think foreman had no jaw watch holyfield foreman or morrison foreman, or better yet moore foreman.
MrLukedanger 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger I think either Klitschko would clean up the heavyweight era you're referring too. Holmes would be the possible exception, and you'd have to give Tyson and Foreman a puncher's chance, but that's it. Klitschkos are so big, they'd runthouse guys like Frazier. Even young Foreman would look puny.
I never said Foreman had no chin, just that Tyson could knock him out if he landed a successful combination. Lyle had him swaggering like a drunken sailor, Tyson was much more lethal.
TA152H01 8 months ago
@MrLukedanger What the actual fuck are you on about that Ali had no power? You do not become heavyweight champion of the world without power.... His pure speed and weight gave him power. You obviously really know nothing about boxing.
FoxyBomb 7 months ago
@FoxyBomb you cant have power unless you walk into your punches or plant your feet moving while punching lowers how hard you hit, you my friend know sweet fuck all Xxxxx
MrLukedanger 7 months ago

Foreman's wild uppercuts could have been a problem though.
shellbsd23 2 months ago

XNorrin, when adults are talking, shut your mouth.
Floyd had no business in the Hw, he should have been in the in the middle w. The look on floyd face at 1:20 says it all.
But on a side note, watching his movments makes you see the training that cus instilled into him and Mike T.
