My girlfriend had a mental/emotional breakdown at age 20. She eventually could not take care of herself, relate to her loved ones at any constructive level, or keep herself from harm. I married her because I was the only person who could take care of her. We knew nothing about mental illnesses and treated it as a spiritual trouble. I'm not sure whether she made any progress in the two years before I finally gave her up to the psychiatrists. Medication allowed her to function better, but it hurt.
Like, depending on the time frame, whether it was mass witch, UFO, or dragon sightings, the observers were all experiencing a collective hallucination. However, the powers that be, rather than let people know how powerful their minds are, suppress it by saying its either a delusion or a physical threat that they need to protect people from. I'm not saying hallucinations are all real, but Im not saying they're all illusory either. Its similar to how not all mainstream cultural notions are true.
Some Schizophrenics can manifest their thoughts into reality more proficiently than the average person, whether as synchronistic events or as physical anomalies like UFO's or ghosts.
interesting... i have schizoaffective disorder and up until now i have been heavily medicated... i discovered an orthomolecular physician close to my home but my doctor and my wife are opposed to me going... it's my life, i should just go for it... i've read The Politics of Experience by R D Laing about a year ago... Laing was way ahead of the curve... thank you for taking the time to produce this and share it with us...
sorry but a lot of this is bullshit. look at disorganised schizophrenia...there is no coherence to their delusions, just plain insanity. most people actually want help with their often frightening delusions and hallucinations, whats better, that they continue to live in society not being able to function, as many of them cant? Some psychiatrists actually want to help people. at least the drugs give people a chance to live a normal life. laing had a point but its not the full story.
digital tango do you have schitzophrenia or a loved one you are close like spouse? i would venture to say no because this video you produced is a load of crappola. My husband has chronic paranoid schitzophrenia. There are several aspects that affect schitzophrenia. When my husband heres that Im going to kill him its not just a feeling hes really hearing it. there are two sides the psychosis and thought process. this is irresponsible literature.
I study psychology you faggot so shove it. mental disorders are real. somehow im not surprised that a paranoid schizophrenic thinks that all the doctors in the world somehow meet up to make this shit up, because "their out to get you"
@cheezmo722 - Judging by your rant here & on other Schizophrenia videos I'd say Psychiatry isn't your field my friend...May I suggest something in the fast food industry?
didn't say it was my field. I said i study it. As in it interests me. Why would i want to be a psychologist and listen to people complain all day?
If i wanted to do that i could just watch all the youtube videos about schizophrenic people who think they're being chastised and that mental illness is not real. I was only motivated to comment because there was a consistent theme among the videos suggesting this. That is purely delusional.
@cheezmo722 - My first thoughts were that If tinfoil repelled stupidity then I'm sure you'd start to notice everyone wraping up when you come around....But on second thought why try & fix stupid?
How can I get in contact with you guys? It is a myth. Still dealing with the effects of quitting my meds abruptly, but it's better than the numbness pills cause. Doctors feed us pills to shut us up, and I can't live like that anymore.
Whilst I agree that there may well be emotional elements to schizophrenia, I have seen some severe cases up close and it is no gift, much like cancer is not a gift or alternative belief.
If you are able to upload videos and use a computer- you are doing much better that the poor schizophrenics I know, and if you can offer viable solutions I will be delighted to introduce you.
so right!!! I know becase luckily im mild schizophrenic, o well life rejected me thats the only unlucky part, but people i telll you die or listen (to me)/(schizophrenic's}
Thank you for confirming what I was trying to figure out.I was so afraid of being one way because of the way I was brought up that I had several breaks and I was so mixed up in many ways.I understand that it is through support/friends and talking things out that really helps.I have had no support all this time.I have just been given drugs that are not good for me like most have. Thanks so much for helping me to see that & to realize that I was just afraid.
Brilliant! TO MEDICALISE SUFFERING IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE FORM OF LYING AND DECEIT TODAY. Unfortunately most of the western world are falling for it. Joh,n Grainne, Hazel and Josh are turning the wheel. They are giving it a MASSIVE jolt. We Irish are so MadProud of them. Let us all give that wheel a jolt with our support. Start by signing the petition to free John.
@maryconlonmaddock1 Thanks so much, Mary. Our BAN ECT/ FREE JOHN Protest against Forced Treatment was well supported I felt. Here's to the Love Revolution... we need Love, not Force.
@digitaltango WOW...woooohooooo!!!! I am ausie.. was schizophrenic. Choosing not to be atm. The hardest part is can everyone else cope with me saying that is my choice and what will they label me to be next??? hahahah TRIUMPHANT !!!!
@maryconlonmaddock1 Of course... the system is sick, so build more system to feed off the sickness, a side affect of which is that the people who are different are pushed back into the system to feed on
I love this video! I was a victim of psychiatry from ages 14-20, I'm not crazy...they made me worse. Since I left the system and meds, I am so much more "stable" and way happier.
@stefanierose88 Thanks so much. I'm so happy to hear that you disentangled yourself from the system and meds. Thanks for sharing and giving others hope.
Nice quotes. Any kind of labeling is stereotyping which is a way of taking individuality away from the person, and making it entirely possible to not listen to anything they said, but still think that you know exactly how they are. And even if you don't fit into the stereotypical mold of schizophrenia, they will still label you as that and say that you are just like everyone else.
Heaven forbid something different did come along- if it did- they would never notice because they had already labeled and categorized it. I say that I believe in God, they say that I am a Christian- I'm not. I say that God talks to me, they say that I am mentally ill- but I didn't create God- its not my fault. But in either case I have been categorized as a religious zealot or as a crazy person, in which case NO ONE really wants to listen to a damn thing that I say-
because people have already seen type of person before. And the respectability of such a position- such as being a person that God chose out of billions of people to talk to- is totally non-existent. No one likes religious people to preach to them- they've already seen enough of those. And the religious folks who like preaching- they only listen if it is what they have already heard. They don't listen after you tell them anything new or come to other conclusions than what everyone else did.
But most people just think you are crazy, and they have seen or heard of enough crazies, and they write off everything you say as an apparition of chemical imbalances. And if they think anything about you, it is to categorize you with all the rest, and they worry- is she going to freak out, is she going to be violent?...I had a friend- she asked how it was going, and then said to not murder anyone. Thanks. Like that was the 1st thing on my mind...(sorry about this being so long, I was on a roll)
Marion, I love that C.S. Lewis quote you posted. I know only too well the devastating effects of the power politics of psychiatry on those in distress, and the red herring of brain disease and chemical imbalance. The years it wastes... the extra added layers of more trauma. The damage the drugs do.
I know only too well the bogus label of so-called 'schizophrenia' can effect a person's life, Deano. I am continually amazed by how ignorant and brainwashed the general public is about trauma survivors. It's been so brilliant to meet like-minded people over the years who know the score. This tune rocks, doesn't it... the lyrics are great too!
Whats it all about its so clear to see!!! its like you said a taboo and i dont mean the drink well done Grainne and a tune i can sofa dive to lol for years i was taunted by this lable scared to go out because of the stigma it carried well fxxk them !!!aint gonna be put through that again NO WAY XXXXXXXXXXXX Deano xxx
Another insightful one, Grainne. Psychiatry really is a political game that can have devastating effects on those in distress. " Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive" C.S. Lewis

We should not be so quick to label people who have been traumatized.
