Zeiss have production line in Japan, This is placed in the factory of a leading optical contractor, Production cost are considerably less in Japan than the would be in Germany. The materials are the same and the build is the same, but by making the lenses in Japan the production cost is less and more people can afford to buy....
@minh0204 AH! that would make a difference, Stu was kind enough to answer, but I suspect a Japanese workforce is well paid too. Perhaps hand made would make a difference

What kind of adapter would you propose to use ZF.2 lenses with the 7D? I really prefer the ZF.2 over ZE lenses because of the manual iris wheel...
