The question most businesses ask "How does local search ranking work?" and "How is Local Search SEO different from website SEO?". The key to question two is that the Places page only allows 200 characters in it's description field, so you have to craft your words very carefully in order to get in a meaningful message and be relevant to your key categories. The answer to question one takes more space that allotted here.

As you say Question One requires a lot more space than we have here, which is why it is essential to have someone helping you with you Local search optimization who not only knows the answer, but also has the proof that he can do it for himself and for his valued clients. @DebbieLattuga Hi there. Debbie. The one Key element of getting Local search right is to start right where you want the searcher to finish. In other words set up the website with a Location mapped on google maps then work outwards from there.

@vevstad Hi yes, Local Search is just one aspect of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). To be successful Internationally you need to get the Local search right also, because at some level the search becomes local for someone for every Website.

good work on getting yourself placed with local search. this is certainly something local businesses need to be paying attention to today. How to get to number one search position will be always in a state of flux but getting positioned now and working to stay there may just turn out to be the best way to go.

@IamStevenVargas Hi steve, ). I used Paint shop Pro which is a reasonable cost Professional level picture editing software. It,s simple to use and has lots of features similar to adobe photo shop. I have both but I use paintshop Pro most of the time as it much easier and faster for this type of edit.

Knowing how to get number position in local search is huge, for obvious reasons. SEO as we know it (if anyone ever did) is changing as we speak. What I like about local maps search optimization is that you can help those little businesses who can't afford SEO firms out there, who charge an arm and a leg and are now using tactics that don't work. It's a win/win. Small businesses can become competitive with larger ones, and you can support your local community. :)

@IamStevenVargas Hi Steve I would agree with that. This is an area of marketing I have become very familiar with from my early experiments in Local search Optimization. It requires a lot of time and effort, but, the time to get in is right is NOW.

search engine Optimization is becoming so huge now, I never really realized until recently that there was an actual "science" or formula to reach Google #1. It wasn't until recently, working on my School's website that i had to learn how important local search was and how to work with it.

@1marcusroman Hi there Roman, Yes I recon you maybe right. I have been doing this type of positioning my clients for a Long time and have had some great results. Early adapters are going to be the early catchers.. just send me the money now guys whilst there is still time to gain an unasailable top position, before the Big guys work it out and "steal" the top slots...
