  • They need to rephrase this and say "death is possible".

  • @tahj677 No they need to rephrase and say "death is likely"

  • aahh not safe

  • Not safe without the side bag. Check out the IIHS Prius side test WITH the bag. That one did well. Side bags were standard starting in 07.

  • even with air bag the test is poor.

  • it got good with side airbags

  • I still wouldnt buy one. I dont like the way they look, or drive. So I went with The Ford Fusion Hybrid instead.

  • And i have worked at a VW dealership, Now the cost of and the frequency of repairs to a VW would make you broke worse than the current economy would.

I have also worked in a toyota dealership and overall, The toyota wins by in terms of customer satisfaction and in low cost, reliable ownership.

  • Well since the current model prius has been out since 2003 with no mechanical changes and the jetta tdi has only just come out i would have expected someone to match the fuel economy of a prius by now. It took VW long enough.

The new model prius is out this year with even better fuel ecomomy than the jetta.

  • check out these videos jetta tdi vs prius challange on you tube

  • I work for nations largest car company as a ase tech and we always have problems with these toyotas every single light that exist goes on and costs are thousands of dollars. If you really want a good car that is good on gas check out the new jetta diesel it does 58mpg on highway and beating prius in every test.

  • The Prius has much better warranty and long term reliability records than anything from VW even the diesel Jetta. The statistics are resounding. Prius wins.

  • So what you dont know how to make a HYBRID?

  • why would airbags not be a option?

    seriously

  • They weren't standard until 2007 because before that not enough customers saw these videos and knew they should want them. Toyota and all car makers could save $500 per vehicle not having side bags and keep the price lower for customers who didn't know better.

  • Grrrr... When will you understand that cars without side airbags will do worse, IIHS? At least set less-demanding standards for cars without them...

  • IIHS can't set lower standards for cars without airbags. If they did, what would be the incentive to make them standard? We'd just have more Pontiac Trans Sport death machines on the road.

  • Does better with the airbags
