Haha fail at putting the food in the boiling water, your meant put the food in the pan first, boil some water (easiest is from a kettle) or just fill it with cold water and let it boil with the food in it but never put food in it while it's boiling haha. To be honest boiling water in the kettle is quickest :P.

Cassandra, you were right! You can warp the burner on an electric stove if you put a small pan in the middle of a large burner and turn it on high because of the uneven heat distribution. Put a small pan on a small burner. Not turning the burner on high (like you suggested) also works.
