was it just a cheap tv tuner (video capture) card you put into your dell? I like this segment as it's something of a tutorial for me so I can make a decent but cheap htpc setup.
Cool videos, excellent quality and clarity. Are you a gadget-head for fun or professionally. I started to laugh to myself when you were discussing how you were able to utilize the Satellite DVR with an OTA antenna and still use the PS3 for streaming, etc... I could just imagine myself trying to explain this to my gadget-challenged father on a weekend when he is house sitting. He usually has an overall look of pathetic blankness when I try to explain my current (rather basic) system.
Great Video, yes, I never thought about the ps3 which I tried your idea and it's great. Well, I am waiting for your next project on xbox. Well, I already invested in ps3 which blue tooth is great and I followed your directions on having one open aea to watch everything... Yes, when you want to watch tv that is all you want to do.. Keep it simple..
And if you thought the $6milion dollar home theatre was ultimate LOL then chances are you havent seen a real cinema in 10 years! You Americans are funny sometimes LOL
LMAO click a button and veg? It sure shows! LOL Id get down the gym more and work off that fat from all that rubbish junk food youve been stuffing yourself with. LOL You cant hide that double chin behind that George Lucas false beard! LOL Oh, my good talk about sight line! Its miles up in the air! LOL Also the reverberation in the room I can hear it!
@mcardenas23 you get what you pay for, however expensive does not always equal better, as it could be someone being a dick and price gouging their stuff. it'd be nice of the 360 had blue ray but it makes me wonder if anyone's hack it with a blue ray drive and have it work perfectly in one.
I don't have a popcorn hour so I'm not their fanboys, and the PS3 is certainly sexier than a popcorn hour. But because of it being locked down it cannot directly play HD movies/TV. So if he wants to play the hidef content he mentioned in part one then he would have to use something else.
Way to go! Might have to get a Playstation 3 now.... I picked up an old used Xbox for $40 at my local gaming store, and got Xbmc working on it, streaming videos from my computer through Samba/UDNP. If you want a Boxee invite, just shoot me a message or something!
i got a ps3 and now i got to switch to xbmc because the ps3 have cinavia crap !!!

but the 360 sucks. can you play blu-rays on it?
NO!

So his ps3 doesn't play HD tv? Why doesn't he just buy a popcorn hour for $199?

I'm not sure where you say that... I play back HD videos through my PS3 all the time. MPEG, h.264, WMV, AVCHD.. etc

you do realise that libdvdcss is not legal in the US...
and some of the codecs are not either...
and that is because of the DMCA and patents

Interesting stuff. I would like to get better home entertainment equipment, but I am just a poor student after all, so that'll just have to wait.
