  • Best western of all time barr none. And yes I've seen em all.

  • @Ebeneezerable

    I agree.

  • something i always said to my kids growing up "I AINT CHURRR PAWWWW" lol, and they laughed hard when i finally showed them that part in the movie

  • Shoulda listened to Lidge,,,

  • @bender1011001 Yeah after my first impression of True Grit died down a little, I came to my senses and realized that no matter how noble the effort, there's no replacing Eastwood's work in the "Spaghetti Westerns."

  • Abe can't get lanch to shut up! He tells him 4 times to shut up but he still keeps bumping his gums. I hope old Abe gets ready to be spit on, 'cause Josey is getting ready to do the deed. "Now,damn you!" "Now, ease them pistols out." Great lines. "Now you say them horses belong to them there pilgrims, huh?" No anymore.

  • I remember when videos were just invented aout 1976 and those huge VCR's that costs $600 bucks, I bought one and this was the first video I bought. I watched that movie over and over and over. I remember how I felt at have the ability to control the movie theater in my own home. I also remember when there was only three channels on T.V. and even when there was no color T.V.

  • well mr carpetbagger. we got somet in this territory called a missouri boat ride

    BAM

  • Clint best actor ever,we luv u clint.

  • "Dieing aint much of a living boy!" CLASSIC

  • classic Clint, my favourite..... thank you

  • The greatest western ever made, hands down. Clint outdid himself with this movie. It has it all including subtle humor with all the spitting, expecially on the guy's heads he has just killed. He spit on a dog, a carpetbagger's coat and a scorpion. My favorite part is in the outback store where the fat man says, "Now, ease them pistols out". An invitation to his own death.

  • 2:00 to 4:00 is Uncle Leo from Seinfeld

  • @slimithy12 its dixie

  • Just watched the new "True Grit" and loved it. Was thinking of having it replace TOJW as my all time favorite Western, but I don't know. This is just too vintage.

  • "you gonna pull your pistols or whistle dixy?"....lol.

  • solid snake?

  • Dude, great job. Very motivational.

  • Haha when I was really really young I used to think Clint Eastwood was a real cowboy for some reason

  • @biagiotti2006 he is. he can ride a horse, and he's super republican.

  • Fuck, YEAH!!!!

  • shit yeah

  • "Dying ain't much of a living" Very cool.

  • Clint is a life-long BADASS!!

  • I've eaten alots of beef jerky ever since I first saw this movie back in 1978 and I still love them damn things to this day...THANKS A LOT, WALES!!!

  • The best Western film ever made?... I reckon so!

  • Mr.Jay Blue Lighting His Self....

Were really gonna show these Pale Faces something....No Offense.....

  • @HippieJimi "None taken..."

  • @Cionaodh57 Gotta love the Chief.....

  • @HippieJimi I believe the line is "Mr. Chain Blue Lightnin' his self."

  • @stratman123 Is it really...I always thought it was jay.....well it still is,and always will be my fav.Clint Eastwood movie....thanks tho 123.... :-)

  • "Dyin' ain't much of a livin', boy!"

  • I can't believe Uncle Leo is in this!

  • Bounty Hunter: You're "Wanted" Wales.

Josey Wales: Reckon I'm right popular.

  • I notice when you get to dislikin' someone they ain't around for long.

    Lone Watie

  • i want some beef jerky

  • Six to one and and ain't one o' them mothers cud hit a barndoor from the inside !

  • When things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, you got to get mean, I mean plum mad dog mean

  • Dying aint much of a living boy

  • A great western with a terrible ending..That whole sword thing at the end was so bad...

  • @WiseGuy5674 Nah, there is nothing wrong with this movie.

  • @Robobbg ...The entire movie is awesome until they show the sword scene at the end..Are you seriously telling me you think it looked believable?...Come on man...Clint should have pulled out a buffalo skinning blade and passed it through Captain Terrel's wind pipe...That would have been an outstanding ending to an outstanding western, Clint style.

  • @WiseGuy5674 He wanted revenge and he wanted it slow. Imagine, if your family was tortured and finally you found the man who did it and he was powerless. Would you just stab him and that's it? No... you would want to see him suffer and make his last 45 seconds a real shit. Josie was able to see the red leg die slow and painfully which is what he wanted. It would not be as satisfying if it were quick.

  • @Robobbg, you know what? I agree. I just wish they had edited it better. It looked like Terrell's got his arm in the air and he's saying "ok, now grab my hand..lets get it into position...steady..ok, push"..It just looks so orchestrated and silly when the rest of the movie seemed so realistic..for a 70's western film, anyway.

I know that you know what I mean...Fugetaboutit!

  • @Robobbg ..also, the knife would not have made it too quick...He already dry fired atleast a half dozen pistols at his face.....He could have sliced though his wind pipe and watched his throat open and close, gasping for air while bleeding out and being stared down by Clint..It could have worked!..

  • Good compilation, would have been greater if you included his meeting with "Ten Bears" or whatever his name is...

  • Get ready little lady....... Hell is coming to breakfast.

  • pull Lemuel

  • For sure the best film that Clint made, and hes made some good ones.

  • @ 4:56 he killed 4 people in 0.9 seconds. Best movie ever!!!

  • @kepler240

    he killed two people...

  • dying aint much of a living boy. thats the hardest shit ever. i love this movie!

  • 4:13 uncle leo gets owned

  • Comment removed

  • excellent..the best parts of this movie...made my day.

  • 1 person isn't an outlaw

  • Missed the best line 'buzzards gotta eat, same as worms' priceless

  • @ConwayTwitty001 - Great Theology in that statement. My favorite line of my favorite western:)

  • I reckon so......

  • Don't piss down my back and tell me its rainin...classic

  • best dialogue in the movie around the 8 min mark between JW and the bounty hunter:

bh-a man's got to do something for a living these days

JW-dying aint much of a living boy. You know this isnt necessary, you can just ride on.

(bh leaves, returns a moment later)

bh- I had to come back.

    Josie- I know

  • nice post .. my favorite was 'BEST OF TUCO" too bad google had to delete it .. assholes .. oh i forgot ...is this where we censor ourselves?

  • My favorite line...."hows it with stains?" LMAO!

  • Very cool. I love this movie. Thanks.

  • die 'n ain't much of a live 'n boy

  • Mystery solved! I'm going as a carpet bagger with a tobacco stain for my Halloween costume. Then again perhaps I'll go as Latch. Don't mess with chained blue lightning pilgrims.

  • Lige, That`s what you get for listening to Abe. I`ll bet on there way to the gates Lige prolly asked "Think they`ll let us in?" and of course we all know the answer "Shut up Lige!"

  • How come everyones comments are so LOOOOOOOOOONG?

  • This is probably my all-time favorite movies, it got to have at least 12 to 15 GREAT scenes and dialouge exchanges. Not sure if " you gonnna pull those pistols or whistle DIXIE" or "well Mr. Carpet Bagger we got something called a Missoura boat ride", or "Dying ain't no way to make a living"! Classic, just F-hng Classic!

  • @keepnfaith44 One of my favorites also. ;)

  • if josey carried a wallet it would say "BAD MOTHERFUCKER"

  • Love the movie's transition close-ups, the way the faces glide right or left, right out of the frame.

  • Anybody notice the victim at 6:56 falls off his horse BEFORE the bullet hits him?!

  • "The hell with them fellows (spit). Buzzards gotta eat, same as the worms"

  • Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle dixie?

  • abe is uncle leo from seinfeld

  • "get ready little lady...hell's coming for breakfast..."

  • 3:14 - 4:18 Best scene

  • 2:20 the only thing you'll be counting is the seconds you have left to live.

  • "Die'in ain't much of a liv'in"....(that's when the bounty hunter shit his pants)

  • Clint's great "transitional" western, both traditional and modern. Exceptional.

  • "Pa? is that you pa?

  • Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for posting. This and Pale Rider are the two greatest westerns ever in my opinion.

  • best western ever!!!!

  • Jack - your right of all the great Clint westerns in the early days, this movie shines as his transformation into the great actor he is but retains some of the most minute mannerisms from the old days in his early career.

I justed watch this for the first time in maybe 5 years since the last time i saw it and it is so outstanding over and over again. Awesome everytime!

bye the way are going to pull those pistols or whistle dixie "classic line"

  • Watch him Abe! I've seen him do some things!! Shut up Ladge!! hahaha. Only Josey Wales has enough bad-assery to dual wield Colt Walker pistols like this. Those things were gigantic. They probably weighed over 4 pounds each. The heck with all these "chuck norris" phrases, Josey Wales is the real badass.

  • @cblackb "bad-assery"?? Love that. (And point taken)

  • The best western ever made to my mind. Skillfully conveys the toughness of post cvil war life while adding a gentle humour which sets it apart from others movies of the genre. Plus it has Eastwood in career best mode. Almost has the feel of a modern movie with all the set pieces timed to perfection. The scene with the wagon train always cracks me up. "...now if one of you has to, you can take that old woman over there. She may be worth....one donkey".

  • Excellent movie, and as real as a movie can get. This and Lonesome Dove are the only movies that show how the early cap-and-ball Colts were used in combat. Texan Comanche-fighters would carry as many as they could --- four or more --- and wade into the enemy on horseback at close range, pistols blasting black powder smoke, fire, lead, and sizzling lard. The lard was used to put a waterproof seal on the cylinder-chambers.

  • When I was a kid Bruce Lee and Evel Knievel were the two coolest guys in the universe; Chief Dan George was in that pantheon too. If I'd been just a little more sophisticated, Clint would've been, too.

  • 1:54 Uncle Leo!

  • This movie inspired my YouTube name. Damn what a great scene from a tough-as-coffin-nails western. "Got me the Josey Wales! Mr. Chain-Blue Lightning himself!" Clint strikes just like that cold, blue lightning. Once the flash is gone, all you see is the dead bodies of those back-stabbing soldiers. Love the desire to find that lovely ranch and just spend the rest of their lives living together, at peace with mother nature.

  • Great video, mate. "Dyin' aint much of a living, boy". Beauty.

  • wtf, red dead redemption copied of this movie so hard

  • This is definitely on my top movies list, and definitely the best western I've ever seen. Excellent movie.

  • Clint is badass in this one as always, just watched it for the first time.

  • THE greatest western of all time. I will stop what I am doing to watch this movie.

    "How is it with stains?"

  • "...Are You Gunna Pull Those Pistols Or Whistle Dixie?"

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLINT!

  • Well Mr Carpetbagger we got somethin in this territory called a Missouri boatride, and I also like the part where he spits on the white jacket and asks "how's it with stains".

  • best line in the movie..... "Dying ain't no livin'"..

  • @CE750 , Sure it's up there with:

    "Go ahead make my day"

"Ask yourself a question "Do I Feel Lucky?"...Well do ya PUNK!"

    "Get off my lawn"

    "Get 3 coffins ready"

"You said when the man with the 45 meets the man with the rifle the man with the pistols a dead man...lets see if thats true"

"My mule dont liek you laughin'"

and well....anything Clints ever said..lol, but its up there i'll give ya that

  • @elmarco1984 Sure, and I'd add: "We've all got it coming, kid" and "Deserves got nothin' to do with it" from Unforgiven, his toughest western yet.

  • @CE750 Dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy...

  • Now easeeee them pistols out bam bam best scene from any movie ever

  • I find most old Westerns very boring but found this movie very awesome.

  • " Nuthin personal Josey. Man's gotta make a livin ! "

" Yeah? Well dyin aint much of a livin - boy !! "

  • I saw this in the theater when it first came out. I bought the video tape and watched it until the tape wore out. I bought the DVD and watch it every chance I get. I love this movie.

  • Clint at his best. Damn good western. The standard to which other western are measured!

  • Poor ol' Billy, running around like that with a bullet in his stomach; heavy blood lost and a ruptured gland can shorten your lifespan fast! Rest in peace, Sam Button.

  • "SHOOT 'EM NOW, ABE, SHOOT 'EM NOW!!!...SHADDUP, LARGE!!!" Is that what you mean, wasp9?

  • You left out one of the best, when Lone Watie says: I notice when you get to disliken someone there not around for long neither..

  • I kind of liked Abe and Ladge. =/

  • @wasp9 Yea.. Uncle Leo is great. ;)

  • @davemelnick Yes , Uncle Leo , fuuuuny !

  • There was one more: "He ain't hard to track....leaves dead bodies where he goes."

  • You know l feel bad for Lige. He tried to warn Abe. "I seen him do some things Abe," "Shoot him now Abe...Shoot him now!" If Abe had just listened to Lige they would be shittin' in tall cotton with that sweet re-ward money.

  • @Huboons Yeah, I felt bad when he killed them. They didn't seem like bad people, just misinformed.

  • ...I can watch the movie a million times!

  • i had to come back...

    ...i know.

  • " lighe, take a look under that there blanket ..."

  • Mr chain blue lighnin hiself!

  • its UNCLE LEOOOOOOOOOOOOO HELLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I think this movie has Clint's highest kill count

  • The Ten Bears scene is the best scene in cinematic history. God that makes my ass wet.

  • 6:21 "Get ready little Lady, hell is coming to breakfast" (LOL)

  • 1:44 (UNCLE LEO!)

  • Go Clint! He had 56 kills as he played Josey Wales. He did Gran Torino in 2008.

  • Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.

  • I agree; this is the best western ever made; shootem up Missouri Raiders; run those jayhawkers outta town!!!!

  • Love Eastwood's screen persona. He's probably a lovely guy in reality, but in the movies, he is the Pale Rider, The Angel of Death, the Saint of Killers.

Nobody else has ever made being dangerously cool look so effortless.

  • "Get ready little lady. Hell is comin' to breakfast."

    Best line ever.

  • I prefer, "To Hell with them fellas. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms." (spit) This is my favorite movie ever!

  • Remember the scene where Clint had just made sweet love to Laura Lee and he's having a nightmare and he wakes up to the sound of his poor dead son crying "PAAAA!!!"?

    I get a little chill...

That's the moment he realizes that he can't stick around and endanger the ones he cares about.

  • 2:14 Shut up Lige!!! LOL!!!!

  • man this is the best Western of all only one as good as this one MAYBE....... Tombstone

  • 4:57 is the most bad-ass move EVER.

  • @rob062388

    Wrong!!

    5:33

"why you gonna pull those pistols or whistle dixie?"

    Cmon Josey Wales!!

    Cymru am Byth!!

  • clint needs to be in another western

  • This is the best goddamn western ever made, hands down. No other western even comes close, even touches this. Not even in the same building never mind the same room. I must have watched this movie 9000 times. "I had to come back"..."I know"

  • @JackHauss The Greatest Western was: Once Upon a Time in the West; then the Dollars Triolgy; then Shane. But this is among the best with not only Eastwood but with John Vernon--who really plays the supporting "hero" part, Will Sampson and Paula Trueman.

  • @JackHauss The only Eastwood movie I really dislike is "High Plains Drifter"-hate to say it but I agree with the Duke on that one.

  • @RPenta Did you see Bronco Billy?
