  • In Daves book he speaks so fondly of Nick Menza in his early days as a talented drummer with so much youth and energy, now he is a complete wreck...such a tragedy

  • @MrSmashman1981 i mt dave at a signing and i asked him about nick menza to get his insight, and he said "he's a great drummer and i still consider him a close friend, but drugs man, they ruin you *dave mustaine laugh, and advice on not doing drugs*"

  • @soadratmetc

Marvin the martian to be precise :)

  • @soadratmetc

    haha yea

  • 5:58

Is that an ORIGINAL bogner triple giant I spy?!?!?!

One of only 25 made *drools*

THAT's where marty's tones came from!

  • @mcconnachiea YES SIR, BOGNER( BONER??) HAFLER TRIPLE GIANT+VHT 2150

  • @anahowana so was Rust in Peace recorded with the triple giant?

  • @UnixStudios during the recording of rip dave&marty used boosted JCM800, but the lead tone(specialy marty's one) is so special, so aquatic, round, beefy&tight at the same time, anyway, mustaine have always talked about marshall when asked about the gear for rip.

but on stage both friedman&mustaine have had hafler triple giants into vht2150s

this configuration was used from 1990 to 1992. mics are shure sm57& sennheiser 421

  • @anahowana I know Marty talked about all marshal amps for RiP in his personal page; but was there any type of outboard EQ used at all? or compressors when you talk about round and tight? short reverb or slap delay for solos? 1992? so that includes Countdown? how about the recording gear for Countdown? I remember Guitar World referred to it as the "death metal sound". thanks for the info,

P.S. I just finished watching Clash of the Titans in Florida '91 and Hammersmith Odeon, London '92 all VHS
