  • I love IONA band! great music & artists from Uk & Ireland! I've discovered them few years ago. The fate wants they have to be heard all over the world! :D

  • Just heard a couple of bars of it on youtube. That will do for rest of my life.

  • I just want to apologise to Iona because I did something that wasn't allowed, I sent Chao the song, HOWEVER, he would not stop PMing me on this so I really had to link him before I seriously raged at him, its not pretty when I'm angry chao

  • And don't forget the royalties for Iona!

  • Ha ha! Now at last I know why I keep hearing Iona in my local branch of Wilkinson's!

I thought I was imagining it for years....

  • I love Iona! I just wonder why this song plays. How did it get selected to play?

  • @Q88Neo Probably cause it's 11:57 minutes long and its nice on the ears.

  • Aaaah, so that's why I keep hearing a bit of my fave bits of prog rock wandering around my local garden centre. I'd always wondered - a 12 minute prog extravaganza isn't the usual port of call for "in store radio". Still, always welcome to hear. And hopefully the licensing will keep some pennies trickling into one of the UK's best and most under-rated bands! (me? a fan? surely not!!)

  • @TrevorandThea Check out my poundland video. Imagesound have made a cover version. Ahh is it B&Q or Wickes?

  • @TrevorandThea Hahahaha B&Q will get the £8000 charge from PRS and PPL (They play cover version)

  • @TrevorandThea the band are getting nada / zilch / noppes / zero from this according to a post the made on their facebook page today !!!! They are even urging people to report where and when they have heard it by email them at band[at]iona[dot]uk[dot]com

  • @ChrisEchoes It's because the ignorant, crap, rude company Imagesound took this song, and converted it into an "Error" song-now everyone seems to hate it :|

  • The instrumental track is Matthew - Tthe Man by Christian Celtic/Prog/Rock fusion band Iona. From their second album the Book of Kells. Iona are a class band; some of the highest quality muscianship you will ever come across. Music is full of power, energy and soul. Don't be put off by the Christian tag. You don't have to be a blleiever to enjoy the quality of their music (but it does help).

  • @divvydavey Well I must like it if I turn the internet connection hotspot off at the wall sometimes?

  • That was amazing. I can't believe eveyone else is suffering through this as well.

  • @lavabats SHHHHH! The creators of the song are on the comments page! ;)

  • @RediffusionMusic Yes they are!

  • @lavabats But yeah, It comes up on the display as "ATTENTION NEEDED-PLEASE CHECK INTERNET CONNECTION" and then its throws up "RE-CONNECTING" and fades this song out.

  • I'm asking you kindly, upload the full 11:57 track on the Imagesound please?

  • @Chao772VersionIV If I can get the guts to pull the HDD out, I will. But im scared I break it.

  • @RediffusionMusic The Imagesound unit or the HDD?

  • @RediffusionMusic Can you upload it on Megaupload so that you can send the link on the YouTube messages and I can download it Okay!

  • @Chao772VersionIV okay, I have been very busy lately

  • Lol, i've head this music in all the exact places listed in the video but nowhere else, and it was really bugging me, but now i know i hear it so often :p

  • Hi again, I got this sent to me by Dave Bainbridge (not sure how he got to see/hear this?). It is a bit of a mystery really, not what I had in mind when first considering 'The Book of Kells' as a project! ;-)

  • RediffusionMusic could you upload the entire instrimental music track which is 11:57 long and include an MP3 link please?

  • Thanks for this, I am also one of the founder members of Iona (and play Saxophones & Flutes/Whistles on this piece - called 'Matthew - The Man', from the album 'Book Of Kells'). This music seems to follow me all over the UK in all kinds of places!

  • @Davidftz where did you hear it? it is amazing because i never thought anyone would watch this video, let alone the band members! :D

oh and sorry about the last "oh no" bit on the end! ;)

  • I'd rather hear the track that's 11:57 long (and more music like that). The other stuff is annoying!

  • @jilliemc Ask @Chao772VersionIV for the link.

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm Dave Bainbridge from the band IONA. I wrote the 'default' 11.57 piece of music (along with Joanne Hogg - lyrics). It is indeed 'Matthew - The Man' from our 1992 album 'Book of Kells'! There is also a live version of the piece with the band and The All Souls Orchestra on our 1999 album 'Woven Cord'. Both albums and all the rest of the bands albums which include our new double release 'Another Realm' are available directly from the band's website.

  • @ionaband Such a pleasure to meet you, never knew that IONA had a youtube channel! LOVE this song and it seems to annoy everyone when it comes on, but I will tell you, it is a treat to hear in our local B&Q store- because they play really really bad cover versions, In our local poundland "where everything is £1!" store, they play this under their announcement.... but it is not the original, I will try and get a copy when im in store, I am a geek when it comes to sound systems.

  • @RediffusionMusic Hi - yes we have - quite a recent thing. Glad you like the song - have you heard any more of our music - we have several songs around this length! Yes not very good cover versions through rubbish sounding speaker systems don't entice me to want to spend a lot of time in stores! You say there is a COVER version of 'Matthew-The Man'? Would be very interested to hear that!

  • @ionaband I will take a recording of it, GET TOP VALUE THAT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY- AT POUNDLAND! yeah, if you cant afford to play music, good music, for 15 seconds that the announcement plays. then you are in a cheap store.

this is from a forum i found"I hope you're not talking about my favourite! I love the one thats just music, its like drums and a bit of ethereal strings and like 3 times it goes really quiet for a bit then comes back in again. unless it gets cut off by a flippin' Wickes advert)

  • @RediffusionMusic This may very well be your song. They do use Imagesound for their music.

  • @ionaband I also can't help but wonder- how did Imagesound approach you to use the bit of music? If i'm in Mcdonalds or burger king I always go round the back and turn on their Imagesound AHD1 because the monkeys in there dont know how to! hahaha!!! I set the holding stream louder to make it more enjoyable, but because it is on a 100V line amplifier, both stereo channels are bridged into one channel, so there is no stereo effect. :(

  • @RediffusionMusic They didn't approach us - no-one did...but the track has been on some kind of compilation for a number of years now. Ironically we re-mastered the album it's on in 2001 and spent some time on this track widening the stereo image in places - not much use if it's played in mono lol

  • most tannoy amplifiers have left and right inputs and squeeze both of them, except Rediffusion ones. DIN PLUGS yum. so if you hear "bohemian rhapsody" by queen for example, you can hear everything in the song through one speaker, oh and yeah, I sit in the seats where the speakers are located, and always jump out my seat if your song plays, even if im eating my chicken selects!!! ;)

Did you reply to my PM i sent you? BTW i took my AHD1 to our computer shop and they didnt know what the thing was!
