The new 'upgrade' is a thinly disguided downgrade to save youtube / google money. It's a cheap and sloppy set up that doesn't allow for proper wallpaper, is over complicated and makes it difficult to navigate through a channel's videos. YouTube offers the option of having your own background choice...the only trouble is, YOU CAN'T SEE IT! all the modules block it out and you can't make the modules a little transparent so it shows...I find it very dictorial...I don't like it...I changed last night...but it is not workable...you can't even vary the colours if you wish and be truly creative and individual with YOUR OWN channel!
