I live in Oyen. I'm one of the shield's boys.I was sad to see the elevator go. Everythings falling apart here. The tracks will be taken out soon,the elevators been torn down by now. The hotel burned down. They MOVED b&js, not exactly a bad thing,and they put in a wall between v&s and maclouds. Then it got changed to true value, and now it is tru test or something. It makes me sad and within the last 3 weeks,every building in town is being robbed. :(
@CowboyUp2221 Come on back. I'm not sure what remains up at Peers, but there is still lots to see at Acadia Valley and Oyen, Cereal, Youngstown and Empress.
@SkyleoFiets I am coming back to AB next year with the girlfriend to show her where I am from. She is a city girl from CALI, so this is gonna be a big wake up call for her. None of this "camping in a hotel shit" get out there are rough it. Muddin, swimming in the river, bonfires, hunting, oh yeah...down home country living. Big change for her compared to Starbucks and the mall. We want to go shopping at the mall, drive for 2 hrs on way. This is gonna be interesting.

NICE towns. Many didn't live up to all hopes, got blown out, ran out of water, lost their railroad, Dying slowly. But some prospered and are fine places to live.
@SkyleoFiets Consort was growing really good for a while and some bad people got there and it's all to heck now, were starting that communities in bloom project but that won't stop people from destroying our poor village!!
Nope. Still a vacant lot. The blue 'motel' behind it is partly occupied (I think) by permanent residents. The Antelope Inn and the new Super 8 out at the cross-roads accommodate visitors to Oyen these days. (At Xmas 2008 there is a large pipeline construction camp near the Super 8.)
