  • i love Thom

  • well, i can hear piano..

  • There is piano?

  • HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • "This is for the jerks" said Yorke here in Brazil before playin' this song. xD

  • This is so good

  • come on

  • dude radiohead stated in an interview they will never stop making music. I remember them laughing at an interviewee when asked if they would have a greatest hits album. which implies the obvious never because radiohead will live foreverrrrrr

  • radiohead does have a greatest hits album. its called "the best of radiohead" google it

  • Radiohead did not release that album. Their old record label did.

  • its still a radiohead greatest hits album

  • i actually own that album, and there's 16 tracks (not enough IMO).

  • i feel ya

  • well i'm sure they, like every other popular band, will at some point release a greatest hits album. but it will probably be at least a double cd and will come out after they all die

  • There already is a greatest hits, it's just not THEIR greatest hits.

  • yeah, its the "most favorite by MTV" BS.

  • if it comes out after "they" die, how could "they" possibly release it?

  • stfu your basically saying music is dead now?

  • Not me.

  • Good lord they are special

When they stop making music, my lfe will be different knowing i wil never hear a new Radiohead song

  • anyhow, there's been dystopian How-to's & treatises long before either book. 'The Protocols of Zion' for instance,

  • Brave New World is 1984's flipside. From where i'm sitting, Brave New World is more accurate. Were drugged on excess, not enforced with armies....yet :P

  • Guyz, take anything wrong about our society and you'll see a link to 1984. That book is so brilliant and prophetic that it's still a big threat to all governments (imaginary war overseas, anyone? terrorism, hmm?).

What I "see" in this song are opressed people yelling and spitting at the tanks and bombs of their opressors. And then dieing. In slow motion.

Anyway, why the heck is Amnesiac considered a B Sides album? I think it's their best and darkest album.

  • Amnesiac is the greatest thing to ever come out of anything, anywhere, period. >.>;

  • One of my, if not my favorite song from Amnesiac. wellm 'cept Pyramid Song.

  • without trying to sound like a sap there's just this crazy intensity and sincerity to everything they do, it's amazing and so overwhelming especially live,I think that's what really separates them from the rest

  • radiohead are the best band ever the only other band to come close would be the beatles

  • I agree with that

  • i hate it when people moan at the last lyrics ghost horses it is suppose to create an atmosphere like just imagin that image in your now

  • WE RIDE TONIGHT!!!

  • This song is so awesome.

Radiohead is awesome. I love how EVERY song can be taken in A MILLLION different ways. People take the lyrics for what they feel and that is one quality that Radiohead has over the rest of the bands in the world. Past, Present, and most likely Future. I love hearing what other people think of the songs. I think the only thing they all have in common, is that they all take you to a different world. They immerse you in something totally alien, yet strangely familiar.

  • Pastybaby,

Very true...Kurt Cobain once said when questioned about the "meaning" of his nebulous lyrics, "good art leaves you asking". And Thom and Company do that to perfection.

It's a mistake of the unartistic- filtering art through the lens of common communication- to thinking lyrics have to have a sharply defined singular meaning. That's as silly as claiming abstract art is trash unless it's a clear drawing.

Great lyrics often invoke a half-lit world, without ever fully lighting it.

  • Indeed well said. Couldnt have expressed myself better

  • i could bang ur mother a million diffrent ways

  • And she still wouldn't come.

  • i always thought this song was liked to 1984 because of the lines "you forget so easy" and obviously the title of "you and whose army" which i thought related to statistical sanity in the book.I also thought that "You and your cronies " was you and your prolies but after reading the actual lyrics i'm thinking differently.I've got no idea what the horses bit's about.

  • It is linked to the book 1984.

  • and it's not the only song connected to 1984...

    2+2=5

    fitter happier

there might be some other radiohead songs connceted, these are the ones that I can think of right now...

  • wth fitter happier connnected to 1984??

  • I wouldn't say Fitter Happier is connected to 1984, but it might have been inspired by 1984 just a bit. Both Fitter Happier and 1984 jump on the utopian to dystopian society idea.

  • Je crois que chaque album de radiohead a sa place. Il m'arrive parfois de redécouvrir des chansons d'anciens albums. Amnesiac est un excellent album indispensable à l'évolution de la musique.

  • perfect

  • the song is about thoms angry feeling towards new labour and tony blair.

  • this song is a triumph of the human spirit..

  • To Igot40movies: I think Radiohead is challenging the establishments and institutions that govern our lives i.e. the church (or religion), government, and even institutions of psychology and status quo that hinder our culture & humanity. "Come on...Come on...You and whose army??...You & your cronies....Holy Roman Empire....."

  • what a polite crowed, i would have killed to have been there

  • excuse my ignorance but can someone explain what the song is about, ive never understood it

  • To be completley honest its been said that the lyrics on Amnesiac and Kid A were "picked out of a hat." aka random, however all the songs on Kid A according to Thom Yorke portray a traumatic event, and all the songs on Amnesiac are like a look back on those events.

  • not all songs.... and those that were, they were not that random, he put em together nicely

  • Tony Blair, his former power over England, and how the people can form an uprising any time they want (You forget so easy, we ride tonight.)

  • I agree.

Radiohead is of course always open to interpretation but I think this song is quite political without being specific.

Amnesiac and Kid A were written and recorded during the very beginning, and at the most disturbing points of the Bush/ Blair years.

  • they were both written pre-9/11 so not sure thats true

  • I think it's about a rebellion, but who knows... these guys are the kings of cryptic lyrics

  • My feeling is the song's for anyone who feels backed into a corner, hemmed in, pinned down, etc, and the bit when all hell breaks loose halfway through is the trapped person saying, 'Fuck it, over the top, chaps, let give these bastards what-for!'

  • esto es del AMNESIAC

EL DISCO MAS LOKO A MI PARECEER D RADIOHEAD

KNIVES OUT PRUEBA ALGO D LO KE DIGO

    JAAAHA

  • tienes toda la razón,Amnesiac es un disco muy,muy extraño,yo no lo entiendo, aunque me gustan algunas de las canciones,no es de mis favoritos de Radiohead, pero igual los adoro.

  • The lyrics, which seem to taunt authority into cracking down on the rabble, could have been given a completely different meaning had they been set to more triumphant music. (You can practically hear Bono delivering a song like this without a shred of irony). But here, Yorke sounds defeated, as if even he's not confident that an insurgency would succeed.

  • Plagiarize much?

    @lejuames

  • probably best song on amnesiac, this song is so imfuckingpressive when you see live!

  • what concert is it?

  • This song makes me want Amnesiac. And I would like the "we ride tonight" part to be forever.

  • get it dude.. i finally got it a week ago.. it's great

  • we ride totally for ever YA

  • no i know

    there a double whammy

  • This is truly beautiful, This song inspires me so much. Bad ass i say.

  • singing this song makes you feel badass

  • i LOVE this song

  • mmm Kid A

    what a mindfuck

the best albums are made by stoners

  • this is actually from amnesiac, even MORE drug-inspired than kid A..

  • thom doesn't do drugs i think ... he is tripping from music + creative brain = win

  • he definately has at one point.

  • we ride tonight

  • "you forget so easy" ... just makes you feel cool when you sing that line... fucking great song... best band this side of pluto

  • *dunno

  • i thought it was just that Floyd seemed to be the scary, ominous art rock band of its time and radiohead is ours

    maybe thats simplistic, i dunoo

  • icantfindanamethis (1 week ago)

"i thought it was just that Floyd seemed to be the scary, ominous art rock band of its time and radiohead is ours".

You forgot to add "original" :)

  • pink floyd was a ground breaking band for its time, as is radiohead for its time, thats about as far as that comparison goes.

  • Come on, come on..

you think you'll drive me crazy, but..

    come on, come on..

    You and whose, army?

  • Pink Floyd has some good work, but they are a bit pretentious, Radiohead just kills.

  • floaty32, you're an idiot ;)

  • You sir are the loser. Seems you have missed out on some great music from a great band.

  • oh, come on! It's RADioHeAd. Do I need to say more.

  • This version is so mutch better than the CD.

  • you guys are kidding about yorke backing up the backstreet boys right?

  • You would think so...

  • one of my favorites by radiohead

  • this song makes our soul high. i don´t know if i would like feel what radiohead felt to write some of their songs. This song makes me stronger. Thanks Tom. sorry for my english

  • If you are a talking heads fan, then you should be able to see a little David Byrne in Thom Yorke. Musically it isn't the same. But his physicalities and lyrically seems similar to me. Hell, they got their name Radiohead from a Talking Heads song "Radio Head." Look at the lyrics for that song and tell me that is not them.

  • pretty sure they have been influenced by bands like the pixies. not positive though.

  • "You forget so easily" and "We ride tonight" are just such cool lines.. and Thom's got them both in the same song..

    Magic.

  • you gotta love this shit

  • what vocal effects does he use?

  • Just a slight reverb, the harmony isn't produced.

  • he uses his underpants

  • i love radiohead

    and

    backstreet boys

    but radiohead more

    obviously

  • oO

this is the first I've ever seen with backstreet boys and radiohead in same sentence...

  • I'm talking about how it's the first sentence I've seen that consists of both Radiohead and backstreet boys.

How could I have not known that? Well, I can only think of bunch of reasons.

and you said THOM that filled in for BSB not RADIOHEAD

I'm giving you a thumbs down for being an ignorant stupid fanboy prick to an annoying degree. (as much as I love radiohead that is)

  • wait huh? Thom was a back up singer for the bsb

and incase u didnt know, Thom Yorke is the lead singer of radiohead.

im just letting you know that he was a back up singer for the bsb

  • es necesario una musica tan perfecta?

    si ctm

  • the best song in the world for me

  • please guys, you CAN'T compare radiohead and pink floyd.

both are great and both in my opinion will be listened to in a hundred year if people will still listen to music in a hundred years.

however even if radiohead said that pink floyd aren't a strong influence in their music, they've been influenced by artists who were inspired by pink floyd, so at the end of the day radiohead wouldn't be the same if pink floyd didn't exist. AND don't freak out thinking who's best, just enjoy the music!!!

  • Now this guy knows what he's talking about

  • thanks, I'm a girl though :p

  • Oops :p

  • OMG!!!! this guys make my mind fly away... there isnt a song that i dont like!

  • pink floyd and radiohead are completely incompatible. both are awesome, they can't compared

  • You ought to knooooooooow... You ought to knoooooooow... I'm so sad, I'm so sad.

    Thom Yorke is a genius.

  • We ride toniiiiiiight. We ride toniiiiight. Ghost horses. Ghost horses.

We're riiiiiiight. We're riiiiiight. Most are still here. Most are still here.

  • Omg this is sooo much cooler live. And I don't mind Pink Floyd but personally I think they're so fuking overated, all that shit about all their lyrics having all that "meaning". If you want meaning, listen to radiohead, can't get much deeper than that.

  • Pink Floyd are fck great! But personnly I think Radiohead is better...I know I shouldn't say that :(

  • no you should definatly say that radiohead are fkn amazing just the way this song builds up is fkn amazing!

  • better than Pink Floyd? Are we talking about the same Pink Floyd? The leading, legendary band? Show some respect when you take them to your mouth you blasphemous!

  • no, pink floyd are borign for a lot of people, like me.

  • yeah of course guys, i understand what you are saying and how you feel, most of the people like you feel the same. I dont blame you or your taste, anyway it's your taste! i am sure that you like backstreet boys as well yes?

  • no, i like alternative rock like radiohead, rem, sigur ros, mogwai.. blablabla.. and grunge.Sorry, i dont like backstreet boys, they are a little gay for me...

    *bad english, im brazillian*

  • im not trying to dis pink floyd, but when i compare both bands, it seems radiohead has more essense. Pink Floyd has some legendary songs- the key word is SOME. Radiohead has many famous songs, over 20 songs that are top notch. I agree that the music cant be compared but it is obvious which band is more prolific. and come on, how did it take pink floyd 2 years to make dark side of the moon, what kind of loafing stoners are they!!?

  • I would have to disagree. I respect your opinion, but I think that there shouldnt be a comparison between Pink Floyd and Radiohead, besides that they are the best bands of their generation. Plus, PF have more then just some good songs, and you have to realize that they made their albums not for singles, but as one BIG song. You have to listen to the whole album through without stopping to get the whole experience. Also, most bands take about 2 years to come out with a new album, because of tours

  • how long did in rainbows take?

ok comp was released in 97; kid A in 2000. thats three years

and dark side of the moon was in the top 200 best selling albums for 14 years.

  • 421, I'm afraid your point isn't valid. the music industry was worlds different then from now.

radioheading321 is right, both ground breaking bands for their generation, that's as far as the comparision can go.

  • i was replying to Fathomthepower.

he complained that one of the greatest albums of all time was made by "loafing st
