Hey u guy dont u see the replay both tom and gordon were slow on the corner exit plato was comming fast he could do nothing. its not platos fault gordon was blocking him. Why every body blames plato. He is a natural racibg driver, we love him. This year plato was leading a BTCC race and tom boardman in fuckin blsck seat hit him from behind and he went into the barrier no complains. Every body does a bit of rubbing & hitting this is life. David Anstis go and watch boring V8 supercars
@buddyboy68 That is the worst excuse I've ever seen a Plato fan use. Plato should know you can not go up the inside up to Surtees, but becuase it is a honda, he thinks there is. In my view, Neal should be warned for dangerous driving, but Plato should be banned.
After watching many years of touring car racing, Jason Plato's name keeps coming up again & again when it comes to the cause of a crash. I am amazed he still has a race license to be fair...but there are drivers in all forms of motor sport that shouldn't be allowed to compete.
@DavidAnstis its touring cars, rubbing is racing, if you don't like it go watch F1 or powerboat racing. There is a reason Plato is a multiple time champion, he's a brillaint driver.
I hate all this "OMG He hit him!" talk, it's touring cars, this happens a lot so deal with it and move on from digging at one driver because he made one mistake.
@edomloge I watch BTCC most times it's on and i've been to oulton park for the past 5 years anyway I wasn't defending Plato I was just saying that placing the blame on one guy isn't fair sometimes. Touring Cars is a sport where cars touch a lot so crashes like this happen a lot but you have to take into account that if your drivingat 100mph+ then it's hard to get out of someones way or to make a fast change of position on track. So next time think of a better argument than that.
The worst thing is Plato's complete hipocracy. When he shunts someone off the track he simply says 'racing incident' or some other such crap. Yet when anyone collides with him he acts like it is the single greatest crime in all of human history...
wow its all platos fault blah blah blah, wouldnt be saying the same if it was darren turner! (nothing against darren at all, love the bloke, great driver, but he's a good example in this instance)
I was marshalling at this event. I was at the post that was just below where the camera was. Bloody scary cause I saw it happening and thought something was gonna happen nearer to our post.
But it didn't and he walked away, which is what counts.
This was a genuine racing accident. No one to blame. James went all the way to the left and accidentally, two further cars RIGHT in front of him did the same abreast. If there is ANYONE to blame (and I don't think there is), it is Gordon himself, because he moved in front of James when James was already too close to be able to do anything about it...
I think Plato deliberately steered in the opposite way of the corner just to put Gordon out of the way, it's one of his typical moves. Of course he did not want to start the crash, but sometimes he should think more before doing stuff like that...
Well, in that situation, with many cars immediately around, I don't think that anyone would push another car intentionally, especially in a fast corner like this. Don't forget there are cameras everywhere. He'd risk TOO much. He just tried to pass. Gordon overreacted a bit to Tom's swift left move. So in the end, it looks Gordon's and Tom's role was just as big as Plato's here, Tom's probably the biggest - it's "nice" to block, but not in a corner, especially when you are on the outside...
Plus, this view doesn't provide us with the most important information - speed and distance - to be able to properly judge who could have done what and when... Jason surely is a ruthless driver, but I just don't believe he's over the top. The position of the faster guy behind is always tons more difficult than the position of the slower guy ahead... The guy ahead just blocks while picking an optimal line, the guy behind needs to find a way around AND still be faster in order to succeed...
The problem (and that's the same in F1) is always with the rules and their checking = officials. If they let stuff happen without appropriate punishment, the drivers would be stupid not to exploit that. Michael Schumacher once said exactly that - he complained that many British people think that he's doing illegal things (apart from those he was punished for), but if that was true, the officials would punish him... And yes, the closer to the top, the more borderline stuff... They're humans...
What I mean is that the officials (in F1 and to some extent in all of motorsport) have ALL the data needed (telemetry, video, witnesses among spectators, marshalls, drivers, the cars involved etc.) and sometimes they STILL OBVIOUSLY FAIL TO PUNISH ADEQUATELY... It is COMPLETELY their fault. Plus, driver tricks are only the tip of the iceberg - cheated cars, secret agreements etc. are MUCH more common and disgusting (and difficult to police)...
I will rather have lots of on track borderline contacts and moves than a "smooth" championship full of behind-the-scenes cheating - resulting in a completely undeserving "champion"...
Well, I must admit that it's quite an interesting point of view; but I still believe that rules are necessary.
I live in Italy, where the "borderline" attitude to make tricky moves and borderline actions to gain advantages is a way of life in everything, and let me say that this "freedom of choice" is not helping us being better.
My fear is that Btcc, by not punishing extreme contacts, would slowly change into a "Destruction Derby"...
When I mentioned rules and their checking, I meant that there are rules, but the officials are often very "lazy" to properly enforce the rules. Rules are EVERYTHING. If every driver races according to a different rule set (his own), there is no racing, just a comedy...
And yes, I find destruction derby etc. VERY stupid. Why people do it/watch it is completely beyond me... Racing is what vehicles are made for, not destruction... If people want to destroy stuff, let them start with their heads... :-))))
It was a racing incident and was no1s flaut. Tom Onslow Cole also said that. Plato is no way near as dirty as he was. Giovanardi was the real dirty driver at Silverstone this wkend if anyone went and saw the moves he made!!
your are the thick cunts. if you had been watching this sport for as long as some of you would reliase that plato is, was, and always will be a dirty fucker

Okay, I correct myself. It was Plato's fault. For some reason I thought Plato was in the car that hit Cole.

Wasn't Plato's fault. He was tagged by the RAC car at first. Plus this is what BTCC is all about, it's unfair most of the time.

I hope he didn't do that intentionally, but he will always be quite "too ruthless" for me, I've seen too much "borderline" moves.
