i always respected and loved Taiwan. I really want to see Taiwan someday and i recently discovered Chthonic. I have never been a fan of black metal music and implementation of Asian musical folklore is pretty rare because most of the Asian folklore music doesn't fit heavy metal and rock standards but Chthnonic somehow has managed an amazing musical formula of extreme metal and Asian folklore music + history and mythology! This is so fkn awesome! Hail Chthonic! And all the best to Taiwan! \m/
The PRC's claim of owning Taiwan is based on bullying, verbosity, and fraud. Consider the Treaty of Taipei and Treaty of San Francisco. The PRC believes Taiwan is a PRC Province - a "renegade" Province, but part of China nevertheless. Quite an odd Province, one would think! This Taiwan "Province" has their own currency, elects their own leaders, enjoys freedom of the press, unfettered Internet access, and a significant level of prosperity. Long live the sovereign Taiwan republic!!
The reason that my comments receive so many thumbs down is because censorship is easier than debate. If enough people give my comments a thumbs down, then less people will read them because they are automatically hidden.
taiwan's constitution says taiwan is a part of china. Some taiwanese wants wants to reunites with mainland china (pro blues), some don't (pro greens). Different opinions should be respected but law is law, nobody is above it. right now the pro blues has a majority in congress so the pro greens don't have enough votes to change the constitutuion. to the pro greens: good luck in the next election, you are going to need it.
Taiwan's constitution is bullshit constitution imposed by the KMT when they fled to Taiwan like a bunch of chickens without head. It was forced on to Taiwanese people and was never formally accepted by Taiwanese. My feeling is that if the Chinese people in Taiwan love China so much, why don't they go the hell back to China. I am so confused!
PRC has never ruled Taiwan. Chiang Kai-Shek was allowed to come to Taiwan for his refuge. The 23 million people on the island deserve the rights of self-determination and the rights of what name they want to be called. ROC is dead, and do not use this stinky name to label Taiwan. The fact is that you can't go to Taiwan if you don't have visa issued by Taiwan. Try to get it from China; then you will be stuck in the airport--- going nowhere no matter how loud China claims Taiwan.
taiwan is already represented in the UN by republic of China, which is a founding member of UN. In the UN chapter ROC is still the permanent security council member. ROC's seat is now transfered to the new China, as well as representation of taiwan in international organizations. For example if there is a health crisis arise in taiwan or other local regions of China, WHO can go to taiwan to assist with the permission of the central government. This is the same procedure for all countries.
Taiwanese are a cruel and inhumane race. They killed thousands of their own people on Feb 28,1947 in the famous Taiwan 228 masaccre. They are all pigs that should die killing each other.
Yes, it is complicated, even inside taiwan, not to mention internationally. People in taiwan do not have a single voice over this matter. Some maintain that taiwan is a part of China (the pro blues), some do not (the pro greens). The fact is that the pro blues have a majority in the parliament and the pro greens do not have enough votes to push for independence from China.
Only Aboriginals (about 2% of Taiwan's 23 million people) are true original inhabitants of Taiwan. Min-nan & Hakka people who emigrated to Taiwan were originated from mainland. Their heritage traced back to China. The use of word "Chink" is an ethnic slur for a person of Chinese descent. This video ended with message of PEACE, yet some folks are creating hatred amongst people on the already small island and shamefully attempted to disassociate with their roots to support political views.
Part 1: Usually, I am all about peace and would not easily let out a racial slur like that. However, it infuriates me when a bunch of Chinese got kicked out of Mainland China due to their corruption and their incompetance. They unlawfully took over Taiwan and govern Taiwn with martial law using torture and extreme cruelty. They treated Taiwanese including Hakka, Min-Nan and the Aboriginal people like second class citizens.
part 2: Yet you attack my discontent toward the Chinese with a statement that seems to be filled with high ethical virtue. If you are a virtuous person that supports peace and human rights. You will without a doubt join me in the march against the Chinese in both China and Taiwan to forever leave the Taiwan alone! (and also Tibet!)
Honesty, I am confused about the people in Taiwan why they would want to be with the Government that has one of the worst human rights record in the world. A government that is completely corrupt. I feel sorry for the Pro Blues and hope that one day they realize that they had built something much better in Taiwan.
All about peace? You are promoting hate as form of patriotism to serve political cause. The bitterness toward political parties (KMT & Chinese Communist) has directed your hatred to the Chinese race instead, the race & ancestry of majority of Taiwan people. Yes, adopted trademarks of DPP last 8 years. It virtually destroyed Taiwan's once powerful economy and isolated itself with rest of the world. I get the point now. Taiwan should get rid of evil KMT, declares Independence and run by DPP's own corrupted officials instead.

Confused about why Taiwan people ran back to KMT (with quite a few Min-nan members & supporters as you evidently acknowledged)? Many of them have never even been to mainland. They are Taiwan citizens as well. Why shouldn't they be regarded as such? If you believed in Democracy, then they also have the right to voice views as part of Taiwan people. You despise it when KMT discriminated Aboriginals, yet you adopted the same manner back to those who disagree with you. Unlike Tibet, which is ruled under Chinese Communists, Taiwan is a self-governed island.

The ROC constitution says that they are part of China, because they used to be the government of China. They currently cannot change their constitution under military threat from China.
However, legally, neither the ROC nor the PRC has sovereignty over the Formosa (Taiwan) island.
The whole China/Taiwan situation is far too complicated to fully discuss here, but it is fascinating, and I encourage anyone interested to take a couple of hours and research the subject. Make up your own mind.
Taiwan's constitution says taiwan is a part of China. In Taiwan some people think Taiwan is a part of China some do not. People are entitle to their opinions but no body is above the law, not even the president.
So unfortunate, for troublemakers in Taiwan province, that satanic rock ChToniC cannot make the decision. Next step, invocate Satan and all the dark forces so that war erupts!!!
I don't know about what it says in the Republic of China (ROC) constitution. It may state that they are part of China, because they considered themselves the legitimate government of China (until 1991).
Taiwan is not a province of China, and has not been part of China since 1895.
The ROC is one of the five founding members of the UN, and was the official representative of China until the People's Republic of China (PRC) was recognized in 1971. They should have a seat in the UN.
"Taiwan is not a province of China, and has not been part of China since 1895." This sentence annihilates all your comment.
ROC is China and Taiwan is part of China as then-KMT led Nanking-based ROC central goverment recovered the province on behalf of China on October 25, 1945.

In 1895, the Qing dynasty lost a war with Japan, and gave Taiwan to Japan.
In 1945, the U.S. occupied Taiwan during WWII and put the ROC in charge of administering the occupied territory.
In 1952, Japan signed a peace treaty relinquishing claim to Taiwan, but they did not give it to the PRC or the ROC.
Taiwan was never reunified with China in any official capacity, no mater what Chiang-kai Shek said in 1945. In 1945, Taiwan was a U.S. occupied part of Japan.
(1) tmundar, I'm not avoiding a debate with you. Nevertheless, you're only parroting clichés extracted from a much more complex issue, and if the situation is as simplistic as put out here, this province of China -- whether you like it or not -- should either, retain its seat, or gain another one at UN.
(2)That said, I don't have more time to waste with a parrot who did not read -- or understand the meaning -- of my former post. BTW, you don't understand what means a "unilateral act of sovereignty" (by R.O.C.)and to some point, what means a "successor state" (from R.O.C. to P.R.C.).
In international law, there are only a few ways that sovereignty changes. The primary way is through a peace treaty. Just because the ROC occupied the Taiwan island of Japan in 1945, didn't change the sovereignty of the island. Until Japan signed the treaty giving up control of Taiwan, it was still part of Japan.
Since Japan gave up control of Taiwan without naming a recipient nation, Taiwan was never reunified with China.
Don't write me off as ignorant just because I don't agree with you.

(I'm used to intellectual controversy and therefore can quickly assess the ability of the person I'm dealing with.) I also know from what original source your "statements" stemmed from.
screw the intellectual debate. There lies the fact that the ROC government came over to Taiwan with tail between their legs. They then ruled Taiwan using extreme oppression (human rights violating torture). What is the intellectual justification of that? Screw your torture supporting and human rights violating intellect. I may not be of your "intellectual ability" when it comes to debating about the logistics of whether Taiwan belong to China. However, I know right from wrong.
Doesn't taiwan have a constitution that says taiwan is a part of China? They should change it before joining UN, if they can get the taiwanese people to pass a constitution that does not say taiwan is a part of China. In the recent times when the taiwanese people modify their constitution it has maintained that taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan should join UN as a province of China. But it is unfair to other countries. That's why the rest of the world is against a province of China joining UN.
You made an excellent point. Strongly second you. Unfortunately, the problem is that unscrupulous local politicians are using the membership issue as a springboard for their ambitions, at any costs to everybody.
